Chapter 1503: Lead scientists
Chapter 1503: Lead scientists
Khan woke up at the sound of roaring thunder, his sleepy eyes opening, only for the unnatural catastrophe above him to claim them.
The mass of crackling clouds Khan had created during the battle against the King was still there, raging near the bottom of the gargantuan cavity, illuminating the bedrock and protecting it from unwanted inspections.
Khan quickly lost interest in the storm, rubbing his eyes, but still sent a silent command through the symphony, which reached the clouds and made them give up on their structural integrity.
The vast mass of crackling purple-red mana shook once before dispersing, melting into the world symphony and granting the gargantuan cavity a peaceful silence, as well as clearing the view of the sky past it.
The rubbing dispersed the last traces of Khan’s drowsiness, allowing him to enjoy the clear, sunny sky above. It was probably already late into the morning, but he mostly focused on the gargantuan cavity’s peaceful silence, the same silence he had experienced while asleep.
That had been Khan’s third time sleeping after the trip to the Nak’s home world, as well as the third time without nightmares. He had yet to experience normal dreams, but the matter seemed pretty much solved. The curse was truly gone.
An annoyed moan resounded from Khan’s right during his silent contemplation, making him pull closer his trapped arm and rub the cold figure it was wrapped around. He even adjusted the Thilku cape, or blanket, so that only a head full of white hair peeked out of it.
"[Is it morning already]?" Liiza whined in her native language, snuggling under the fluffy blanket to get closer to Khan.
"[It was morning when we came here]," Khan chuckled. "[The Sun was up by the time you felt satisfied showing us around]."
"[I had to abide by my species’ traditions]," Liiza pouted.
"[I’m pretty sure we didn’t have to pass everyone multiple times]," Khan teased.
"[Yes, we did]," Liiza stated, diving what little of her head that peeked out of the blanket under it. "[Mornings are too bright on Earth]."
"[It’s Nitis that is always dark]," Khan reminded, "[But I agree. Earth gets too bright too soon]."
Liiza didn’t miss the real meaning behind Khan’s words. While political, the previous night’s party had been a break from the mess the regulated universe was caught in.
Yet, the party was over now, and Khan and Liiza had even taken some time for themselves afterward. They had exceeded how long people in their position could stay gone, meaning they had to resurface and start dealing with their duties, as well as recover their daughter before she flew away again.
Therefore, Liiza groaned, straightening herself and slipping past the blanket, yawning. Some of her nakedness came out in the open, but Khan could only focus on her childish expression and the evident blush that afflicted it.
"[Good morning]," Liiza muttered, her voice still drowsy as she climbed onto Khan’s lap, wrapping her arms around his neck to kiss him.
Khan’s mind defaulted to his most primitive urges. Before he knew it, his hands had clung to Liiza’s waist, pulling her closer, accompanied by the sensual, tempting rubbing she engaged in.
However, Liiza interrupted the kiss before things could get too dangerous, retracting her face to show the lip between her teeth, before leaving Khan’s lap altogether.
Liiza could never get enough of Khan’s captivated and eager gaze, and she enjoyed how it followed her as she slipped from under the Thilku cape to retrieve her clothes lying a few meters away.
Dressing up forced Liiza to turn at times, but the blue light never stopped shining on her, and she threw a knowing look at its source once she was done. A giggle even escaped her mouth when she found Khan supporting his head with his hand, appearing completely engrossed in the spectacle.
"[You’ve seen me naked plenty of times]," Liiza commented.
"[And it’s never enough]," Khan sighed dramatically. "[I must have developed a condition. I feel unwell whenever I can’t see your rack]."
"[Wasn’t it more about my legs and butt]?" Liiza wondered, adjusting her clothes while returning to Khan.
"[I’m switching it around]," Khan admitted, "[So you never know what to expect]."
"[Stupid]," Liiza scoffed, leaning down to grab Khan’s face, giving him a quick kiss. "[And good. You should have this condition at the very least]."
"[Does this mean I get to see your rack again]?" Khan wondered, making Liiza burst into a laugh.
"[Get dressed]," Liiza ordered, still laughing. "[I’ll retrieve Yeza and come to find you]."
"[Using these opportunities to spend more time with our daughter]," Khan sighed again, shaking his head, but finally standing up. "[You can try all you want. She’ll always be Papa’s little Princess]."
"[I’d be mad if she weren’t]," Liiza scoffed, crossing her arms. "[She’ll hear from me if she makes her Papa sad]."
Liiza leaned backward when warm arms hugged her from behind. She smiled at the kiss that landed on her neck, and giggled when Khan whispered in her ear. "[By the way, it’s always your legs]."
It took a few more minutes, but the couple eventually managed to leave the gargantuan gorge. Liiza went to find Yeza, while Khan flew high in the sky, scratching his head while looking at the mess still crowding the white sand.
Despite the late hour, most guests were still asleep, dealing with the consequences of the party, bound to awaken with splitting headaches.
Of course, that was only true for the weaker guests. The stronger warriors among them had already gotten into action, starting to address the various topics discussed at the meeting.
Khan could sense the Emperor and the other evolved representatives from his position. They were still in the quadrant, dealing with their respective species, a task he also had to address.
Yet, something else had to come first in Khan’s case.
After a quick call, Khan headed for one of the intact buildings past the desert, swiftly entering it and reaching its top floor, featuring a vast flat repurposed into a control room.
That repurposed flat had been the work of Khan’s forces. Technically, Aynor still belonged to the Global Army, but the current situation gave Khan’s troops and scientists some leeway, allowing them to operate on Earth.
Obviously, Khan had become aware of that location only after the call, and the figures that joined him mere minutes after his arrival had been the ones to suggest it. After all, what they needed to discuss was highly classified and required privacy.
Nevertheless, despite the call, Khan was surprised to see three people instead of two joining him in the flat. He had almost forgotten about that new addition, but he clearly didn’t, and for obvious reasons.
The order of business demanded Khan’s top scientists’ attention, and they weren’t limited to Garret and Abraham anymore. Those two still walked in the flat, but Raymond Cobsend was with them.
