Chapter 1496: Everything
Chapter 1496: Everything
Azni was still as voluptuous as Khan recalled, which the white robe that covered her completely did a poor job at hiding. Yet, she had lost any trace of the facial and spiritual immaturity that still existed in Khan’s memory, becoming a proper and beautiful mature woman.
Time obviously was to blame for that, but Khan guessed Azni’s maturity had two greater driving forces in the form of the terrifyingly cute children holding her hands.
The little boy and girl were incredibly similar, almost looking like twins. However, the latter was slightly taller than her brother, her glowing white eyes occasionally showing traces of mature awareness when they inspected the area.
Still, the similarities outnumbered the differences. Both children had long white hair, slender frames, and delicate facial features, so soft that Khan had to actively refrain from rushing forward to pinch their cheeks.
"You weren’t lying, alright," Khan muttered.
"I told you," Liiza responded, as awestruck as her husband despite already knowing those children. "They are so cute it’s terrifying."
The Niqols matured earlier than humans, but Azni’s children still looked a few years younger than Tamara. However, they already seemed to possess a certain level of control over their inborn mana, making them safe against the possible mutating radiation of that alien planet.
Khan didn’t know if that was due to how the Niqols had adjusted their education of their youth after the sunlight, but his thoughts hardly dwelled on those dark topics. He was mostly interested in the happy reunion and the aspects that even time and children couldn’t change.
Doku’s stiff smile was new, but Azni’s cold expression wasn’t. If anything, it looked more dangerous than what Khan recalled, as if she had learned something from the Niqols between his arms.
"[Everything happened too quickly]," Doku explained, trying to justify himself. "[I had to rush to Earth to lead the rescue teams. It was a critical situation]."
"[It’s exactly because it was a critical situation that I teleported to Coravis]," Azni responded, "[Worried about you, but I see you are doing more than fine]."
Doku had spoken the truth. The sudden invasion and subsequent chaos had forced him to focus on his duties, which had involved escorting Yeza back to her parents.
Yet, everything that had followed had been quite distracting. The various reunions and the cauldrons had required Doku’s attention, making him forget that his family on the other side of the universe might have been worried about him.
Or, rather than forgetting, Doku had and was having too much of a good time that he had lost track of the passage of time, ending up failing to reassure his family for over half a day.
"[I’m sorry]," Doku quickly admitted defeat. "[You know how I am when duty calls]."
"[I know]," Azni smiled, but her expression carried no reassurance as she looked down at her kids. "[Go on. Greet your father. He’ll need you since he won’t get anything from me for the next year]."
Doku’s smile stiffened even further, but his kids ignored the meaning behind Azni’s words, their faces lighting up as they erupted in an identical, simultaneous exclamation. "[Dad]!"
The two terrifyingly cute children became even more adorable as they let go of their mother’s hands and rushed toward their father. Doku’s smile couldn’t help but become genuine as he kneeled to the sand, spreading his arms to welcome them.
"[How have I missed you]!" Doku shouted as soon as his kids fell into his arms, laughing as he trapped them in a hug. "[I was so lonely without you]!"
Doku secured his grip on his children and stood up, lifting them in the process. The two started storming him with questions and statements, at which he mostly laughed and feigned surprise to play along.
Azni’s cold smile sweetened at the scene, but her face suddenly snapped in Khan and Liiza’s direction, almost sending a chill down his spine. She didn’t even stop there, walking in their direction, her pace accelerating as if drawn by a gravitational force.
"[Hello, Az]-" Khan began to say, only for Azni to fling herself down, slamming her knees on the sand and sliding over it until she stopped right before the sitting couple.
"[Look at you two]," Azni cried, summoning the most high-pitched voice Khan had ever heard in his life. "[Let me see. Let me see]."
Azni had asked for permission, but her hands had grabbed Khan and Liiza’s arms before her request could finish resounding in the area. She pulled those tattooed limbs toward her, her eyes almost shining with newfound intensity while she inspected their every detail.
"[They are so beautiful]!" Azni exclaimed, threatening to rob the married couple of their arms. "[I watched your marriage so many times, but nothing beats the real deal]."
Khan blinked, just recalling how addicted to gossip Azni was. He had expected a different kind of reunion, too, but seeing how happy his wife looked made him put those thoughts aside.
"[And would you look at this little one]," Azni continued, reaching for the child on Liiza’s shoulder, leaning sideways so that she could look at her face. "[Hi. Aren’t you beautiful]?"
Yeza realized that someone else had joined her at that point, but still released happy sounds at that white light. She even grabbed the careful cold finger reaching for her face, seemingly wanting to squeeze it while it performed soft caresses.
"[She is so warm]," Azni gasped, switching to a childish voice. "[Just like her father]."
Azni finally gave Khan a knowing look, adding something. "[But the beauty is all her mother]."
"[Why do you think I married her]?" Khan said, winking.
"[Just come here]," Azni scoffed, disregarding her own words by leaning forward, trapping both Khan and Liiza in her arms. "[I was so happy when I heard you stopped Liiza from going through with that foolishness]."
"[You want to know every detail, don’t you]?" Liiza teased.
"[Obviously]!" Azni exclaimed, snapping back to inspect the couple. "[Who do you think your best friend i-]?"
Azni couldn’t finish her question since something else caught her attention. She had been too focused on her husband and that happy reunion with Khan and Liiza to notice it before, but she finally spotted Ilman now, as well as the green figure snuggling on his shoulder.
Azni was still holding Khan and Liiza by their shoulders, and her grip grew several times firmer, as if wanting to trap the two there with her.
"[I need to know everything]," Azni muttered, throwing a threatening glance at Khan and Liiza. "[And I mean everything]."
