Chapter 555: Chapter 553: Mother...

I just stood, body unmoving, thoughts frozen.

I didn’t even register the loud shout. Not a single boisterous declaration made its way into my ears as my entire being stood transfixed, looking at the two people who had appeared.

...

...

WHAM!!

"OWW!!!! Hey!! What’s that for?" The blonde man complained, his hand rubbing the back of his head as he gave the woman beside him a look.

"Shut up. You’ll make me go deaf. Why are you yelling like a madman?" Her voice was soothing, calm, and beautiful. Even while chastising someone, it could still captivate the soul.

"Sera, we just got out. At least I’m allowed a little bit of freedom to express myself," the golden-haired man pleaded his case.

"What do you mean ’we just got out?’ Regulus, we were dead. Like, dead-dead. And somehow, someone has brought us back. The least you can do is try to appreciate the person before going off like a wild animal."

"Pooh... why should I, though? The guy already promised to bring us back; he’d have been a little bitch if he couldn’t even stick to his words, humph!"

WHAM!!!

"Owwww!!! SERA!!!!"

"Stop saying stupid things about our benefactor! What if he takes it as you being ungrateful? What then?"

"But... but I’m not ungrateful... he was definitely going to bring us back. He’s too much of a mama’s boy to let you stay away when he can finally do something about it."

"What are you talking about? And where even are we? This doesn’t look like—" The woman’s voice cut out as she finally focused on her surroundings, ignoring the loud man beside her, only for her eyes to widen and her mouth to tremble.

"No..." Her words came out shaky, disbelief clearly in her voice. "It can’t be..." Her hands went straight to her mouth as her eyes teared up.

"Ahh... and here comes the waterworks." The golden-haired man sighed, a helpless smile on his face as he wisely stepped aside just fast enough before—

WOOSH!!

A figure bolted right past him, trying to get to the person she’d just seen. But space was a fickle mistress, and she could only stumble, almost losing her footing. Yet before she could pitch forward—

"Mother..." A hand wrapped tightly around her waist as a head came to rest on her bosom. The figure was trembling like a leaf in a storm, the raw emotions pouring off of him felt deep in the woman’s bones.

Her knees gave out as she knelt in the hardened space, her arms wrapping tightly around the figure, her eyes already a waterfall of crystalline tears.

"My baby..." Her words came out jumbled, choked on her sobs. "My baby... my baby..." She cried, pulling him in closer, tighter, almost as though wishing she could fuse his being with hers.

"My baby..."

The two stayed locked in their embrace, words failing them as they cried and held onto each other for dear life, both afraid that if they let go, the other person might just disappear once more.

"Ahh... shit. So much for a warm welcome." Regulus smiled, a warm expression appearing on his face as he watched Seraphina and Dante get some far overdue closure, both figures unwilling to even budge or move from their positions.

At that moment, the world, outer space, everything around them stopped existing, because right there, right then, only Seraphina mattered. Only Dante Draven mattered.

...

...

I didn’t know how long Mother and I had been locked in our own world, and I really couldn’t care less.

Finally... finally... it was no longer a wish, no longer a distant dream. No longer just me saying words that held no weight. She was finally here, in the flesh, and I could finally, once again, take solace in my mother’s embrace.

So yes, I didn’t care. The world can wait, just let me enjoy this moment—was what I would’ve loved to say, but sadly, all good things must come to an end.

"Man, how long has it been? You’re still such a mama’s boy? I thought you’d be so much harder than that. Tsk, tsk, tsk. I’m disappointed in you, kid."

I heard the irritating voice of someone I had missed dearly, though in that instant, I started to wonder if maybe I should’ve just brought one person back.

"Haaa... Old man, if you’re jealous, just say it. What? Now that I’m all grown, you can’t handle that I’m better looking and more deserving of Mother?"

I didn’t even bother to get out of Mother’s embrace, not in the mood to look at that old man’s face right now; he could wait.

"Ehhh!? Look at this guy. All grown up and now you think you can talk back to Father, eyy?"

"Hmm?" I slowly, reluctantly, left Mother’s embrace as I stood to my full, nearly nine-foot height, looking down at the old man with a smirk.

"Damn, boy!! You’re tall!! What the fuck!?"

"Heh! Old man, still think I can’t talk back?"

"No. No. That’s not the point here. How the fuck are you this tall? What the fuck have you been eating since we were gone? And where the fuck can I find some?"

"Oi! Since when did you start cursing this much, old man? I thought you were some stoic old fuck with age-old wisdom and shit?"

"Meh.. meh.. your mother always went off about me not being ’mature’ or that I ’played too much,’ so I had to put up an act and be the bold figure. Pretty good, wasn’t I? Hehehe.."

"Yea, you were. Almost had me fooled for a moment, and then I saw all the records, and your fraudulent ass was properly revealed."

"What!!! Who!! Who the fuck ruined Regulus’s reputation?!"

"Old man, only people with reputations should bother asking such a question. You were literally one second away from becoming the next disaster to happen to Terra."

"Meh... you live, you learn."

"But you somehow never learn, old man."

"BITCH!! Say that again, I dare you."

"Old fuck! You think I won’t?"

WHAM!!! WHAM!!!

"Owww!!! Seraphina!!"

"Mother!!"

"You two! It’s barely been what? A few minutes since you’ve seen each other. What’s all this about?"

""HE STARTED IT!!""

"I don’t want to hear it."

"Pfft..." A small laugh cut through our conversation as Mother and Father finally registered the presence of the others around.

"Eyy? What the hell? Clarissa? Ravena?? What? What are you two doing here?"

"Ravena... Clarissa... my dear sisters, it’s been a long time." Mother smiled, a beautiful expression that somehow lit up the darkness of space, while both Clarissa and Aunt V smiled, relief and joy clear on their faces.

"Sera... it’s really been too long." Aunt V.

"Fufufufu... finally... the squad is complete." Clarissa.

A/N: Welp! I don’t think anyone is surprised by Dante and Regulus’s banter. And to think it’ll only get worse from here on out, damn... anyways...
