Chaos and Order - A Multiverse Fanfic
Chapter 1161: Enhanced Muggles? Goblins’ Craft? - Momo’s Fury!
High Priestess Momo saw her future, her ambitions, and her world getting decimated right in front of her eyes.
Her heart pounded so hard in her chest that even against the booms that tore through her army, she could hear her heartbeat, blood gurgling across her body, flushing her pale skin red.
What... What must she do?
Just who were these ten men?
From where and how had Dumbledore pulled them out?
The entire fiasco of her playing out the part of a double agent, becoming a member of the Order of the Black Phoenix, instead of outright coming to support Voldemort, was to keep an eye on Lord Black Phoenix’s deranged activities.
When she had seen him bring Muggles, of all people, into the picture, she had realized that her decision had been the right one.
Soon, Momo had also found out how Dumbledore had asked the researchers, from both the wizarding and Muggle worlds, to come up with ways to make Muggle technology and Magic work together for their upcoming war with the Dark Lord and the Dark Alliance.
She knew of the experiments going on in the Hogwarts Dungeons.
She knew how the Order of the Black Phoenix’s most trusted Wizards and Witches were trying to elevate the Muggles’ strength so that they could use their military training further, especially when paired against a Dark Wizard’s magic.
She also knew of the use of Charms and Goblins’ craft to strengthen the Muggle weapons, making them even more deadly than they already were.
However, none of it had bothered either her or Voldemort.
First, no matter how desperately Dumbledore tried to include Muggles in the picture, the War he was preparing them for would fall upon him sooner than he was imagining it, making most of his efforts fruitless.
Second, strengthening Muggles like Giants so that they could take on a few Spells without outright getting obliterated, especially with them not being able to use a Shield Charm, was only solving half the problem. Not all Muggles would be able to effectively use such strength in the War because of their lack of experience with it; experience that they would never get the time to acquire.
Third, and perhaps the most crucial, were the Goblins.
Dumbledore still believed that the Goblins would help him to restructure the Muggle weapons technology, completely ignoring that they were the same Goblins who had outright revolted against the social oppression forced upon them by the Wizards.
To force the Goblins to use their most prized knowledge and craft... and that, too, to help Muggles — people whose existence didn’t even matter to the Goblins... was nothing but Dumbledore’s foolishness, as Voldemort had put it.
It was this foolishness that the Dark Lord had capitalized upon to bring nine out of ten Goblins to his side, riling them up against the Order of the Black Phoenix.
And so, Momo could not fathom how the small number of Goblins on Dumbledore’s side could have crafted such armor and weapons, especially with her knowing nothing about it.
Even if by some miracle those Goblins had crafted these weapons, working secretly in some corner of the world all this time, she could not fathom how the Muggle soldiers had adapted so quickly to them; adapted so much, in fact, that they were butchering her Death Eaters... including Giants and Dragons!
Nothing made sense.
Momo looked as half her army lay dead... killed by a mere ten Muggles.
Bellatrix screamed by her side, complaining that she couldn’t contact Voldemort.
Momo looked up and saw Wizards and Witches, the cowards among them, using broomsticks to run away, but getting repelled by a field; a field so vast that it seemingly covered an entire city.
No.
This was not just a calculated attack.
These soldiers had arrived knowing exactly that Voldemort’s army lacked military discipline, knowing the strengths and weaknesses of Wizards and Magical Creatures alike.
Dumbledore, no matter how cruel he had become after attaining the title of Lord Black Phoenix, couldn’t have sent these men... to slaughter all these Death Eaters, not when he could trap everyone and capture them.
Then there was the fact that Voldemort wasn’t here.
So, the question became — was Dumbledore keeping Voldemort from returning or...
In that moment, after seeing death in a form that she had never imagined seeing, Momo realized a bitter truth.
She, the High Priestess, one of the Top Echelons in the World, had absolutely no idea who these men were, where they had come from, and who had sent them.
And, as she realized that, fury danced in her eyes like never before.
"Forces of the world!" Momo shouted, wielding her priestly Staff forward with both hands. "Heed my command. Earth!"
The blue-armored soldiers seemed to have no weakness.
But she had seen them fight, kill, and advance.
She knew what their weakness was.
The enemy’s strength was not in their weaponry, but in their discipline.
They fought as one.
They killed as one.
So... let them die as one as well...
A great RUMBLE rocked the world as she kept mumbling, chanting the ancient Spell passed down by the ancestors of the oldest School of Magic.
Fissures ran down from the cliff like snakes, advancing on the plain, swallowing a few Death Eaters and Magical Creatures before reaching the ten soldiers who had their backs to each other.
Before they could even react to those fissures, with a loud BOOM, lava erupted, sending the ten soldiers flying in ten different directions... hundreds of meters from each other.
In a moment, the battlefield that was choking on filth and blood became a fiery land, streams of lava running in all directions.
And, separated by those lava streams, were the ten armored giants, surrounded by Death Eaters and Magical Creatures from all sides, some hesitating in fear, some hungry for their blood.
High Priestess Momo panted, her chest rising high with every breath.
No.
This was not her end.
Nor was it the end of her ambitions.
"Do not allow them to regroup!" she roared. "Surround them! Kill them! Kill every last one of these Muggles!"
