The next day, as soon as the morning classes ended, the students either headed to the cafeteria for lunch or took out the lunches they had brought from home.

Kotone Asaba had only just gotten to his feet when he heard class president Fumina Ankyu call out to him.

"Asaba, the student council president says she needs to talk to you. She’s waiting outside the classroom."

Hearing that, Kotone immediately turned toward the front door and, sure enough, spotted Fami standing there.

Naturally, quite a few other students had already noticed the student council president waiting outside as well.

"Why is the student council president here? It looks like she came to see Asaba about something."

The other students weren’t the only ones curious. Asa Mitaka was also paying close attention.

Under the gazes of Asa and the rest of the class, Kotone walked outside and said to Fami, "You came here because you want me to take you out for lunch, didn’t you?"

"That’s right."

Fami nodded.

"I knew it... Give me a minute."

After saying that, Kotone went over to tell Makima.

In fact, he had already told Makima the previous night that he and Fami had reached an agreement to cooperate.

Thinking back to last night, Makima hadn’t had any objections. Reze, on the other hand, had immediately noticed something and hit him with a devastating question.

"With your strength, you shouldn’t actually need to cooperate with the Famine Devil, right?"

Reze narrowed her eyes. "I heard the Famine Devil looks like a human girl just like Makima, and apparently she’s pretty cute too. Don’t tell me you’re trying to win her over?"

That question caught Kotone completely off guard.

He honestly couldn’t come up with a particularly convincing rebuttal.

After all, one of the main reasons he had approached Fami in the first place was to fulfill the Affinity requirements.

After casually letting Makima know where he was going, Kotone left the classroom together with Fami.

With an appetite as enormous as hers, eating in the school cafeteria was obviously out of the question, so they naturally headed off campus.

There were far more options outside the school anyway, and they didn’t have to keep eating at the same restaurant every time.

Partway there, however, Kotone suddenly noticed that an eating contest was being held on the street.

An eating contest?

Wasn’t this practically made for Fami?

For today’s lunch, all he had to do was sign her up for the contest and let her eat there.

Better yet, if she won, she could even get prize money.

What could possibly be better?

Kotone barely hesitated before dragging Fami over to register for the eating contest.

"You two... look like students. Are you sure you really want to enter?"

The staff member looked at Kotone and Fami. Both of them were wearing school uniforms, and they obviously looked like students.

"We’re sure."

Kotone nodded.

Fami didn’t know much about eating contests, so she simply stood beside Kotone without saying anything.

"Just so you know beforehand, every contestant has to pay an entry fee of two thousand yen. If you place, there are cash prizes, and first place receives one hundred thousand yen..."

The staff member briefly explained the general rules to Kotone and Fami.

That also gave Fami a chance to learn what an eating contest actually was.

Kotone then paid Fami’s two-thousand-yen entry fee.

"She’ll be the only one competing. I’m not entering."

Compared to the well over one hundred thousand yen Fami could casually eat through in a single meal, what was a measly two-thousand-yen entry fee?

Besides, the winner received a decent cash prize.

And as far as Fami was concerned, winning that one-hundred-thousand-yen prize should be practically effortless.
