But now that Makima had come directly to him, Kotone Asaba could hardly refuse her.

Makima, the War Devil, and the Famine Devil were bound to meet sooner or later anyway. There was no harm in letting it happen early.

That was how Kotone reassured himself.

"Then I’ll take you to speak with the principal right now."

Kotone brought Makima through the Kamui dimension and teleported back to Imperial Senior High School.

They appeared directly inside the principal’s office.

"This is my colleague, Makima. As an added precaution, she’ll also be going undercover at the school with me," Kotone told the principal frankly.

"Of course. That won’t be a problem."

The principal was somewhat surprised.

There was no question that these two were Devil Hunters from Tokyo Public Safety, but they both looked far too young.

He could place them in practically any class in the high school division, and no one would suspect a thing. They looked exactly the same age as the other students.

"Would you like to be assigned to separate classes, or should I place you both in the same one?" the principal asked.

Before Kotone could answer, Makima spoke first.

"Put us in the same class."

"Very well. You can begin attending school normally tomorrow."

The principal nodded.

Kotone and the principal had already decided on the specific class during their first meeting, Class 2-4.

It was also the class Asa Mitaka currently attended.

This was Kotone’s second visit to the principal’s office.

Since the principal had agreed to place Makima in the same class, she would naturally join Class 2-4 as well.

The following morning, Kotone and Makima entered Class 2-4 as transfer students, just as they had done before.

Inside the high school division of Imperial Senior High School, a pretty, delicate-looking girl with black twin tails was walking down the hallway toward her classroom. She was wearing the high school division’s uniform.

However, three boys were walking side by side in front of her, completely blocking the hallway.

Her expression immediately darkened as she stared coldly at the three boys ahead.

"Don’t walk side by side like that. How is anyone supposed to get past you?"

She complained inwardly.

Although she did not say anything aloud, one of the boys suddenly felt an icy gaze on his back, sending a faint chill down his spine.

He instinctively glanced over his shoulder and saw a pretty girl behind him with a gloomy expression.

"Move over. We’re blocking someone," he hurriedly whispered to the other two boys.

Only then did the other two quickly move aside, leaving enough space for her to pass.

The darkness on the black-haired girl’s face eased slightly, but she still looked displeased. She found their behavior extremely irritating.

"Uh... We should probably pay more attention next time. We got so caught up in our conversation that we didn’t even notice we were blocking the hallway. Should we catch up and apologize to her?"

"Forget it. We don’t even know her, and she doesn’t exactly look approachable."

"Did she really have to get that angry, though? It’s not like we did it on purpose... Whatever. We were still the ones in the wrong."

The three boys quietly discussed the black-haired girl behind her back.

When she reached the stairwell around the corner, she was still distracted by her thoughts and nearly walked straight into someone.

That person was Kotone Asaba.
