Chapter 2797 It’s Fake

Brooke Black curled her lips into a smile, and then she and Jane Sampson left the hotel first. Next to the hotel, Oscar Wilson started chatting with James Carter about George Gates’s matters.

Back at the Black Residence, Jane Sampson got busy, with Aunt helping her. Jane almost took on all the dishes for tonight’s dinner.

She initially thought James Black might not have time to return tonight to dine with everyone, and he might even have to cancel the planned outing to the home stay.

Unexpectedly, while Jane was still busy in the kitchen, James came back, even earlier than Old Master Black.

"Jane~"

James instinctively went upstairs to find Jane upon entering, but he couldn’t find her after searching around and only started calling out her name loudly on his way downstairs.

Jane heard James’s voice from inside the kitchen and realized he was back, quickly responding to him, "I’m in the kitchen!"

James turned around and walked into the kitchen, saw Jane with an apron, bustling by the stove, and he felt relieved, walking over to her.

Being able to bustle by the stove indicated she was in a good mood, and indeed not scared by today’s incident.

Even though after the incident everyone told James that Jane was fine and doing well, not having seen her with his own eyes made James somewhat uneasy.

After all, he knew all too well that Jane was someone who tends to pretend to be strong and doesn’t want to trouble others.

"What are you cooking?"

James stood behind Jane and asked.

Aunt noticed James coming in and made an excuse to leave the kitchen with a smile. That was when James hugged Jane from behind, his broad palm resting right on her lower abdomen.

"I’ve cooked so much." Jane began counting with her fingers the number of dishes she made tonight to James.

"Are you tired?" James asked, "If you’re tired, just make a few dishes. Let Aunt handle the rest, and you can go upstairs to rest for a while. After dinner, there’s still quite a bit of car ride time before reaching the place to rest."

"No, I’m not tired. I haven’t done anything all day, nothing could tire me out." Jane shook her head, then looked up at James and asked, "Can you come along with us tonight?"

"Aren’t I back already?" James replied with a smile, then bent down to peck Jane’s lips, "I’ve packed my stuff before leaving this morning, so we can go straight after dinner."

Jane’s gaze clearly brightened, very pleasantly surprised.

"Has the auction event heist incident been resolved?" Jane curiously asked.

"Yes, it’s been resolved." James nodded, "I also found that pregnant woman who bumped into you."

"Is she a fake pregnant woman? After returning to the hotel and talking with everyone, I kept thinking this pregnant woman seemed fake." Jane said, "She didn’t look like someone who was going to be a mother at all."

"Yes, she’s a fake pregnant woman. That person could never be a mother, never a child’s mother." James laughed.

Jane didn’t understand the hidden meaning in James’s laugh. Upon hearing, a word popped into her mind, "Infertility?"

"No," James shook his head, chuckling, "He is a man."

Jane was stunned for a second and then burst into laughter, finding it quite funny and shaking her head.

"Thought she was a fake pregnant woman, but turns out she’s a fake woman." Jane held her forehead, "These thieves are really creative in stealing, even coming up with the idea of cross-dressing."
