Chapter 89: Chapter 89: Go Clean the Toilets

Surprised, Han Biwei, who was waiting in line, walked over. "Hello. Yes, that’s me."

Wang Xiaoshuang looked her over and quickly introduced herself, "I’m from the HR department of the Dongshen Financial Group. You can just call me Xiaowang."

Han Biwei felt a little nervous. "Is there a problem with my eligibility for the interview?"

Wang Xiaoshuang smiled. "There is a bit of a problem."

After saying that, she took Weiwei’s hand and pulled her aside.

"Sister Han, let me ask you something."

"Ah, go ahead."

"Sister Han, do you have connections in our Dongshen Financial Group?"

Han Biwei was stunned by the question. "No, I don’t. I just sent in my resume through email after seeing a job posting."

Wang Xiaoshuang frowned. "Sister Han, do you know any of the bigwigs at our Dongshen Financial Group? Like the chairmen, CEOs, CFOs, or anyone like that from the top brass?"

Han Biwei couldn’t help but laugh. "How could I? If I had those kinds of connections, I would’ve used the VIP entrance over there. Why would I be waiting in line?"

That made sense, but Wang Xiaoshuang trusted herself. She was sure she hadn’t misread the name on that note.

She’d even gotten on the floor to rearrange the torn pieces of the note.

Unfortunately, too many pieces were missing, and she couldn’t make out the name in the end.

’Should I call the top floor again to ask? Probably no chance. Besides, the bigwigs are in a meeting.’

Wang Xiaoshuang hesitated.

Han Biwei glanced at the time. "I have to get back in line."

"Wait, Sister Han, I’ll go with you."

Wang Xiaoshuang followed Han Biwei and stood with her at the back of the long line.

’My job today, assigned by the higher-ups, is to make sure Sister Han’s interview goes well. I can’t have gotten it wrong!’

Han Biwei was grateful, but she was sure the other woman had made a mistake. "The girl who came in earlier is my cousin. Her name is Han Qianqian. I’m certain the note from the executives was for her!"

Hearing even Han Biwei say this, Wang Xiaoshuang began to doubt herself and wonder if she had indeed made a mistake.

But her conscientious and responsible nature was unchangeable. The young woman insisted on accompanying Han Biwei through the interview process.

She had to get to the bottom of this.

Finally, after a painfully long wait, it was Han Biwei’s turn for the first round of interviews.

An interviewer sat arrogantly behind the desk, took one look at Han Biwei’s resume, and frowned.

"What kind of educational background is this? You didn’t even graduate from college? Were you expelled?"

Han Biwei quickly explained, "I wasn’t in good health when I was in school, so I took a formal leave of absence. I wasn’t expelled. I plan to complete my studies while working and will definitely earn my degree."

All four interviewers laughed.

It was a mocking laugh.

"Young lady, do you know the minimum requirement for a job at the Dongshen Financial Group? It’s a bachelor’s degree or higher! Even postgraduates who join us have to start from the bottom. Someone like you... is absolutely out of the question!"

The other candidates waiting behind her lowered their heads and snickered.

’Where did this foolish woman come from? She probably thinks she can land a position just because she’s pretty.’

’Doesn’t she know how powerful the Dongshen Financial Group is? Or how strict the hiring process is?’

The interviewer threw Han Biwei’s resume to the floor.

She didn’t get angry. She bent down, picked it up, and said slowly, "I’m willing to start with the most basic entry-level work. Although my educational background is lacking, I’m a fast learner. I’ve held many positions over the years and even secured a deal worth over a million for a sales company!"

Han Biwei had the confidence to say this. The fact that she could give Qin Tianxuan 300,000 in one go was a testament to her years of hard work and capability.

But the Dongshen interviewer waved his hand impatiently. "There are plenty of people more capable than you. Here, we screen by educational qualifications. Now hurry up and leave. Honestly, you don’t even know the basic rules."

Han Biwei sighed and turned to leave.

"Wait!" Wang Xiaoshuang appeared, her voice cold. "The company has twelve positions that don’t have educational requirements and are based solely on ability. I’m Wang Xiaoshuang from the HR department, and I’ve read the recruitment documents!"

’Damn it. Those twelve positions without educational requirements are hot commodities, almost all of them snatched up by people with connections inside the company. This Wang Xiaoshuang really knows how to touch a nerve!’

However, no matter how low her position was, she was still an employee of the HR department.

The interviewers’ faces turned ugly. They exchanged glances, then stood up coldly. "Wang Xiaoshuang, you’re overstepping your authority! It’s not the place of a junior employee like you to tell us how to conduct an interview."

Wang Xiaoshuang didn’t back down an inch. "Bring out the list of those twelve positions. I’m willing to be Han Biwei’s recommender!"

The interviewers were at a loss for what to do.

’If we make a scene now, the whole business with the nepotism hires will be exposed.’

’This is so damn frustrating!’

They shot Wang Xiaoshuang a vicious glare, picked up a list of positions, turned away and muttered amongst themselves for a moment, then threw a job description sheet onto the floor with a cold smile.

"There’s still an opening for a janitor to clean the first-floor restrooms. Han Biwei, if you’re willing, you can go through the hiring process right now and start today!"

As he spoke, his laughter grew louder. "So many people are here for interviews today, the toilets are probably getting clogged!"

Wang Xiaoshuang was furious. "That position is outsourced! Do you think I don’t know? You’re just trying to make things difficult for her! Among the positions with no educational requirements, the lowest one is a sales associate! You guys..."

BANG!

The interviewer slammed his hand on the table. "Keep causing trouble and I’ll report this immediately. Shall we go have a talk with Supervisor Yang?"

Wang Xiaoshuang was still indignant, but Han Biwei suddenly stepped forward. "Excuse me, is the janitorial position a full-time employee role? Does it have opportunities for promotion?"

The interviewers chuckled. "Of course. The company has monthly performance reviews and all sorts of exams. As long as you have the ability, even a janitor can climb the ladder!"

The whole room burst into laughter, especially the other candidates.

There was schadenfreude, morbid curiosity, and all sorts of other thoughts in their minds.

But the one thing they all had in common was that none of them, at their young age, would ever stoop to cleaning toilets.

’This stunningly beautiful Han Biwei will probably just throw up her hands and walk out any second now!’

But they were all wrong.

Han Biwei bowed earnestly. "Thank you for giving me this opportunity. I can start right now!"

Huh?!

Wang Xiaoshuang was dumbfounded. "Sister Han, it’s cleaning toilets! You... you can’t take this job!"
