Chapter 715: Chapter 66: All Subdued

The three Fighters inside the room were suddenly hit by a Spiritual Shock, their bodies faltering for a moment.

However, all three were elite Black Steel Level Fighters from Lianwei Zhongyu, handpicked from their ranks.

The standard required each of them to possess a fully transformed level of strength, enough to confront and suppress one of the Old Imperial Family’s Duty Captains in the Merging Land.

These Fighters all cultivated Spiritual Power. A simple Spiritual Shock, rather than an attack using Spiritual Techniques, was not enough to take them down.

Chen Chuan’s goal with this attack wasn’t to overwhelm them, but to confirm their presence and exact number.

And now that their minds had connected, he would be able to sense them even if they tried to retreat, as long as they remained within a certain distance.

As he launched the spiritual attack, he surged forward, closing the distance to within two or three hundred meters of the trio.

In the eyes of a Third Limit Fighter, this distance could be covered in an instant.

The three inside knew it was impossible to escape now, but they had no intention of retreating. Instead, they planned to face Chen Chuan head-on.

This choice wasn’t a mistake. For one, they didn’t know the newcomer’s identity or background, nor did they know if more enemies waited outside. Although their attacker seemed powerful, there was only one of him. They could focus their strength to take him down, then decide on their next move based on the circumstances.

Moreover, as long as they weren’t immediately surrounded by a large number of Fighters and armed personnel, they were confident in their ability to escape.

They couldn’t maneuver freely inside the building, so they immediately stepped outside. Spreading out, they saw a blade-wielding figure approaching from the end of the street.

The short, stocky Fighter pulled a metal sphere from his waist and hurled it at the approaching figure.

After crossing more than two hundred meters, the sphere arrived above Chen Chuan’s head, then unfurled into a large net in mid-air with a sharp POP.

At the same time, the other two flicked their wrists, throwing two daggers at him in an attempt to cut off his path of evasion.

Chen Chuan gave it a single glance. The Snow Monarch Blade left its sheath in a flash. With a glint of steel, the entire net was instantly shredded.

As he brought the blade down, he lunged forward. One of the incoming daggers struck his body and was instantly shattered by the sheer Power he radiated, its fragments flying outward.

Chen Chuan had no intention of getting bogged down in a fight with the three of them. The area was too populated, and when a Third Limit Fighter unleashes their full power, the range and destruction are immense. He needed to end this quickly.

So, he merged with his Second Self from the very beginning. In the same instant his blade flashed, he materialized in front of the short, stocky Fighter, the Snow Monarch Blade descending once more.

The Fighter was ready for a confrontation, but he never expected Chen Chuan to be so fast; for an instant, he had vanished completely from his senses.

He could sense Chen Chuan was targeting him and hastily tried to sidestep, but he was a step too slow. A flash of the blade streaked past, and the man froze in place, his expression going slack.

After the single strike, Chen Chuan moved past him. He spun his long blade and swept it horizontally toward the second person nearby.

This was the gaunt-faced Fighter with the sinister eyes from the first photograph. His Spiritual Power seemed considerable; as the blade swept toward him, a sharp light glinted in his eyes, and he was somehow able to track its precise movements.

But seeing it didn’t mean he could dodge it. His mind could react, but his body couldn’t move in time. He could only watch as the flash of the blade cut across him, the metal rod in his hand raised only halfway to block.

But he wasn’t about to give up. He judged that the strike would, at worst, slice him in two, which wouldn’t completely rob him of his ability to fight. He let out a vicious hiss, straightened his back, and tried to surge forward for another attack.

Just then, however, a hand landed on his shoulder. There was no Power behind it; it was simply resting there.

Yet this simple gesture instantly disrupted the balance of his internal flow, preventing him from Emitting Force. He froze. A thin line of blood began to gush from his waist, quickly forming a large pool on the ground.

With his hand still on the man’s shoulder, Chen Chuan looked up at the final opponent.

The tall, powerfully built, bear-like woman stood there, a Crane-Beaked Hammer in her grasp.

Her aura was deep and steady. He could sense that her powerful muscles were interwoven with tough, mutated tissue. She was undoubtedly the strongest of the three.

The powerful woman bent low and then leaped forward with explosive force. Despite her size, she was incredibly agile.

A glint of light flashed in Chen Chuan’s eyes. He saw with perfect clarity that the charging figure was actually an illusion created with Spiritual Power. Her real body lagged a step behind, pushing off a moment later to rush forward.

The distance between the illusion and her real body was short, and her charge was incredibly fast. Because of this, even someone with superior Spiritual Power might not notice the feint in time. This could lead to a miscalculation of attack range, which would create an opening. It wouldn’t be impossible for her to land a decisive blow.

In response, he took a single step back. This new position was just outside her projected landing zone—a spot where she could still reach him, but not exert her full power.

The woman saw his new position and was instantly thrown off balance. Mid-charge, she had no choice but to make a minor adjustment, stretching her body to try and get better leverage for her attack.

But at that exact moment, Chen Chuan stepped forward, returning to his original spot. He used the momentum of the forward step to launch a kick.

His retreat and advance completely shattered his opponent’s rhythm. The woman had no more time to adjust. All she could do was watch as the swift, vicious kick whipped toward her and connected with her chin with a sickening CRACK.

The force of the blow shattered the ground beneath Chen Chuan’s feet. The point of impact erupted with a shockwave that made one’s eardrums ache.

The woman’s chin snapped up, her head pulled back violently. Chen Chuan spun on the spot and delivered another kick to her chest. With another explosive BOOM, her powerful frame was sent flying sideways. She smashed through a wall and landed heavily in a pile of rubble, silent.

Chen Chuan slowly lowered his leg. His other hand was still resting on the second Fighter’s shoulder, and he could feel the man trembling slightly.

He had dispatched all three in the blink of an eye, injuring them but leaving them alive. This was far more difficult than simply killing them.

He was able to achieve this because after merging with his Second Self, his speed and power completely overwhelmed his opponents. Furthermore, with his formidable Spiritual Power, the paths of their Emitted Force were perfectly clear to him; they were practically transparent.

His eyes flickered. ‘Lianwei Zhongyu can’t possibly think these three are enough to operate in the Merging Land,’ he thought. ‘They are nowhere near qualified. Of the three, only the woman had barely touched upon Heart Force.’

‘Pioneer Teams that can survive in the Merging Land are made up of Fighters who possess Heart Force, like Chen Bitong, Old Hu, and Yang Shen. They also need to be well-coordinated, which these three clearly weren’t.’

‘This means there are likely other members besides these three. But I’ll worry about that later. First, I need to take these three back for interrogation.’

He touched his Realm Token and spoke to his team members outside. “I’ve handled it on my end. Someone tipped them off before I got here, so there should be more of their people in the area. I don’t have a headcount yet, so be careful.”

There were too many civilians nearby for him to risk a large-scale Spiritual Shock, so some were bound to slip through the cracks.

The team outside could handle them.

He glanced at the Chaoming still hovering in the sky, then released the Fighter’s shoulder and walked toward the house the trio had been in.

The Fighter remained frozen in place, not daring to move an inch. He could feel a thread of Power coiling within him. If he made the slightest move, it would surge into his skull, and he would die a horrific death.

Once inside, Chen Chuan’s gaze swept the room. It was mostly filled with the trio’s training gear and equipment. A map of Central City lay on a table, with a radio set underneath it. A few scattered tubes of Nutrition Paste were nearby.

He headed toward the back of the house. In the rearmost room, he found a metal container about half his height. It was empty, its purpose unknown.

He approached it, gave it a look, and touched his Realm Token. “An Shield, take a look at this. What is it?”

“ANALYZING… BASED ON THE CONTAINER’S DIMENSIONS AND RESIDUAL MATTER ON THE INNER WALLS, IT PREVIOUSLY HELD A LARGE-SCALE COMBAT ORGANISM NOT IN MARKET CIRCULATION.”

‘A large-scale combat organism?’

Chen Chuan glanced at it again. The container was half the height of a man. Combat organisms were typically transported in a curled-up state, so he could only imagine how large this thing must be when fully extended.

He asked, “An Shield, can you tell how long ago it left?”

“TRACE ANALYSIS INDICATES DEPARTURE WAS BETWEEN THREE AND FIVE HOURS AGO.”

‘Three to five hours ago… That would be this morning,’ Chen Chuan thought, raising an eyebrow. ‘And Huang Weiyi’s surveillance team didn’t notice a thing.’

‘Something this large couldn’t have been moved without any trace.’

‘So…’

He reached out and, with a casual shove, pushed the metal container aside. Beneath it, a deep hole was revealed.
