Chapter 977: Where are you?
Chapter 977: Where are you?
Yue silently joined one of the lines in the Hall. Unlike the others, who did not hide their power and let all see their laws, she kept her natural laws suppressed when it was her turn to receive her identity card.
As her slender fingers touched the orb on the counter, she noticed how it attempted to probe her Celestial Lake. So she quickly severed that connection, stopping the orb from sensing all of her laws and breaking.
Only after leaving the Golden Hall of Light and stepping into the Celestial Realm, with no further attention drawn, did she relax.
She drew in a slow breath, feeling the dense, vibrant natural energy around.
It was far purer and more potent than anything she had ever encountered.
"I can feel the natural laws in the air."
"So different from our Universe."
She murmured softly to herself, lifting her gaze to the vast, powerful expanse before her, scanning the endless stretching land.
Finally, she whispered.
"Where are you?"
A faint trace of grievance slipped into her voice as she tightened her fingers slightly.
"I’m here... yet you’re not."
She said more quietly, her amber gaze lingering on the vast, silent horizon.
"You should have known the moment I came here—didn’t you leave a mark for that? Or have you forgotten... already?"
A bitter smile curled at her lips, hidden behind the white veil. Shaking her head slightly, she descended onto the ground and discovered Amon’s location through the artifact they both carried—meant to help her and her son locate each other.
It was a tracking artifact gifted by Elder Odiak. It had no other use. Still, it was a reliable device for ensuring the well-being of the three kids who liked to run around.
Her fingers shifted suddenly, idly playing with the pair of silver rings hanging from the ordinary chain around her wrist. They were meant as a gift—something she had created. Since a certain man had forgotten to give her a ring after their wedding, Yue had taken the matter into her own hands.
Her eyes narrowed dangerously.
She would make sure he liked them.
By the time Yue reached Amon and the group with the kids, something big had already happened. Inside a building, Jian and Asher were at the throat of a group of Celestials, both of them visibly tense, their killing intent barely restrained. Whatever the strangers had said had clearly hit a nerve, enough to shatter their usual composure and push them to the edge of violence.
Alec, Nine, and Sinon were attempting to stop the two, yet it looked like Asher and Jian were intent on shedding blood today.
The group of strangers opposite the two was not weak either. They too were ready for a life-and-death battle, refusing to take back whatever they had declared earlier.
Yue hurried into the building.
It appeared to be a dining establishment, with numerous tables scattered across the lobby. The staff inside were loudly ordering those involved in the dispute to leave and take it to a nearby arena instead. Without wasting time, Yue quickly joined Mia and Elli, inquiring in a serious, hurried tone.
"What’s going on?"
However, strangely enough, they gave no response. Instead, they avoided her gaze.
Yue’s heart sank immediately as a bad premonition gripped her entire being.
Her eyes slowly moved toward Amon, standing in the distance with Leon and Caria. His trembling fists were clenched tightly, and his head was lowered as if he was trying to hide. It was the first time Yue had ever seen her son like this—so fragile and shaken. Her heart clenched painfully, as though it might stop at any moment.
And then she noticed Bia. The Phoenix’s eyes were red-rimmed as she glared at the group of Celestials Jian and Asher wanted to fight, as if she wanted to murder them.
Amidst the commotion, Yue’s calm voice echoed as she gazed back at Mia and Elli.
"Is this about Kyle?"
Once again, she was met with silence.
All of a sudden, her voice rose sharply as she fixed a cold stare on Jian, Asher, and the group of strangers causing the noise.
"Keep quiet, all of you!"
Usually, her voice was soft, gentle, almost soothing to hear, but the moment it rose, it carried a cold authority that froze everyone.
Finally, complete silence fell over the area.
All eyes turned toward the woman in veil, but her gaze had returned to Mia and Elli.
"Now, tell me, is this about Kyle?"
Again, her question got no reply from the two women. Everyone around her clenched their fists. Even the air felt heavier, as if the space itself were tense. James, Odiak, and Elizabeth wanted to intervene, but at that moment, a cold snort rang through the air.
It came from one of those Celestials still seething from his earlier clash with Asher and Jian. The humiliation of being forcibly kicked out of his chair by Jian—merely for discussing some old rumors—had left him bitter, so now he didn’t bother hiding it. His voice was rough, dripping with contempt.
"So it’s not just those two lunatics—you all follow that power-hungry, crazy Celestial?!"
A faint, mocking laugh escaped him as his eyes swept at everyone, who stared at him as though they wanted to tear him apart.
"What, I’m not allowed to say it? It’s the truth! That guy lost himself to greed and ambition. Everyone in the realm knows it! Maybe you all follow the faction that tries to paint him as some kind of paragon of good, but that doesn’t change the truth!"
The temperature in the building seemed to drop even further. Still, the man didn’t stop. It was as if he couldn’t feel the killing intent directed at him from all directions at all.
"Good thing he’s already dead. Killed before he could destroy the entire realm and wipe out every Celestial in existence. We should be thanking the kind Rulers for ridding—"
He failed to finish his words. Jian broke free from Alec’s grip and shot forward, his fist slamming straight into the man’s face.
"You bastard... shut your mouth!"
