Celestial Beast Taming
Chapter 371 - 218: Su Sheng
Chapter 371: Chapter 218: Su Sheng
"If Su Sheng’s Healing Ability doesn’t reach the level I described, I’ll give you the Eternal Night Feathered Dragon Egg I have."
"Even if this Eternal Night Feathered Dragon Egg can’t be hatched, it shouldn’t be hard to trade it for five hundred Divine Origin Value points on the Virtual Source Network.
When he heard Star Night mention the Holy Healing Celestial Wood, Xian Zhe’s first impulse was to refuse.
The Holy Healing Celestial Wood was a Guardian Beast unique to the Senyu Federation—or rather, it was the Federation’s national guardian beast.
The Senyu Federation’s capital city was built around the Holy Healing Celestial Wood.
The Holy Healing Celestial Wood was a wild, plant-type Guardian Beast in the Senyu Federation that had never been bound by a Contractor.
By absorbing the Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi and natural rain and dew, it had reached the level of the Peak of Ten Thousand Nations all on its own.
Every ten years, the Holy Healing Celestial Wood produced a piece of bark, and every hundred years, a section of its core.
The Senyu Federation poured its national resources into nurturing the Holy Healing Celestial Wood, and the Wood, in turn, would unconditionally heal the Federation’s wounded and gift its products to them.
If Star Night had asked for a piece of the Holy Healing Celestial Wood’s bark, Xian Zhe would have gladly given it to him, considering their relationship.
But the Holy Healing Celestial Wood only produced a section of its core every hundred years, and the Senyu Federation’s entire stockpile currently consisted of just three sections.
As the Senyu Federation’s only other expert at the Peak of Ten Thousand Nations besides the Holy Healing Celestial Wood, Xian Zhe had the power and authority to dispose of these products.
However, on the Virtual Source Network, a section of the Holy Healing Celestial Wood’s core could fetch a conservative price of 120 Divine Origin Value points.
If someone happened to be in urgent need of such a Healing Element material, it wouldn’t be impossible for the Holy Healing Celestial Wood’s core to sell for as much as 150 Divine Origin Value points.
No matter how good his relationship with Star Night was, Xian Zhe couldn’t be frivolous with 150 Divine Origin Value points.
But upon hearing Star Night offer up the Eternal Night Feathered Dragon Egg, Xian Zhe immediately changed his mind.
Even if the Eternal Night Feathered Dragon Egg in Star Night’s possession couldn’t be hatched, someone from the Ancestral Research School had already made an offer for it.
The offer was precisely the 500 Divine Origin Value points Star Night had just mentioned, and the buyer was even willing to cover the five-point fee for Star Night to use the Energy Transmission Platform.
When the buyer learned that Star Night didn’t intend to sell the Eternal Night Feathered Dragon Egg, they raised the price to 520 Divine Origin Value points.
This offer was made with the buyer’s full knowledge that the Eternal Night Feathered Dragon Egg was supposedly unhatchable.
But Xian Zhe had personally seen Star Night’s Eternal Night Feathered Dragon Egg, and it wasn’t completely devoid of life inside.
If he got his hands on this Eternal Night Feathered Dragon Egg and asked the Holy Healing Celestial Wood for help, with the immense life force the Wood contained, he could hatch it. Once hatched, it would easily be worth 5,000 Divine Origin Value points, if not more.
At the Peak of Ten Thousand Nations, which corresponded to the Sixth Level on the Virtual Source Network, the rules were different. When participating in the Divine Origin Slaughter Secret Realm, the initial Divine Origin Value each person carried was no longer the two points from the First Level Divine Origin Slaughter Secret Realm, but a full two hundred points!
If one could fight until the very end in a Sixth Level Divine Origin Slaughter Secret Realm, earning several thousand Divine Origin Value points was not a problem.
Xian Zhe had entered the Sixth Level Divine Origin Slaughter Secret Realm many times, eliminating one or two opponents on each occasion.
But even on his best run, he failed to last until the third day before being killed by another participant.
Since being killed meant losing half of one’s Divine Origin Value, the net gain from Xian Zhe’s various forays into the Sixth Level Divine Origin Slaughter Secret Realm amounted to less than 100 points in total.
There was no reason to refuse a low-risk, high-reward gamble. The only thing was, Star Night was the one who had proposed it.
The fact that Star Night had proposed this bet meant he had complete confidence in Su Sheng.
With this in mind, Xian Zhe said slyly,
"Star Night, I’m sure you’ve tested Su Sheng’s Healing Ability before."
"The Immortal Tier must be no challenge for him. Why don’t we bet on whether his Healing Ability can reach the Eternal Tier instead?"
"If it can reach the Eternal Tier, I’ll give you not just a section of the Holy Healing Celestial Wood’s core, but also two pieces of its bark. How about it?"
Upon hearing this, Star Night smiled and looked toward Zhong Yi.
"Su Sheng, didn’t you say you wanted a material that could enhance the level of your Healing Energy?"
"Among materials of this type, none is more exceptional than the core of the Holy Healing Celestial Wood."
"It’s up to you to earn the material your Order Beast needs to advance to the Extraordinary Tier."
"Besides the core, you can also use those two pieces of Holy Healing Celestial Wood bark in the future to strengthen other Healing-type Guardian Beasts."
Star Night never liked to gamble; if he did, it was only when he was absolutely certain of victory.
Long ago, Star Night had recommended Zhong Yi to the Tower of the Code.
This was right after Zhong Yi had finished healing Cui Heng’s Cloud-Stepping Immortal Leopard.
Therefore, what Star Night had told the Tower of the Code was that Zhong Yi, while at the Mortal Beast Tier, possessed the Ability to heal those at the Immortal Tier.
But then Zhong Yi had healed Tao En. Tao En was a Guardian Beast Master who possessed three Eternal Tier Guardian Beasts.
Healing Tao En’s injuries required a Healing Ability on par with the Eternal Tier.
If he hadn’t known for a fact that Zhong Yi had healed Tao En—and thus possessed an Eternal Tier Healing Ability—Star Night would never have wagered the Eternal Night Feathered Dragon Egg!
When Xian Zhe heard Star Night’s words, he cursed inwardly. ’This is bad.’
Su Sheng hadn’t even started the treatment, yet Star Night was already arranging how to use the winnings.
The bet for the Holy Healing Celestial Wood’s core was, in fact, so Su Sheng could strengthen his Order Beast.
Using a material of that caliber for an advancement to the Extraordinary Tier was truly a luxury.
However, if Su Sheng truly had the Healing Ability to treat someone at the Eternal Tier while he himself was only at the Mortal Beast Tier, then no investment of expensive materials would be too great.
If Su Sheng really did help Star Night win the bet, not only would Xian Zhe not feel the loss, he would instead start considering how to proactively build a relationship with Su Sheng.
Befriending and investing in a person like Su Sheng would be like giving himself a great opportunity.
The legendary realm above the Peak of Ten Thousand Nations, which corresponded to the Seventh Level on the Virtual Source Network, was known as the Divine Fire Level.
It was said that by igniting a wisp of divine flame within one’s Soul Base, one could develop it into a Divine Kingdom.
Rumors regarding power Tiers on the Virtual Source Network were more often true than not.
If Zhong Yi possessed the ability to heal a Seventh Level Divine Fire Level expert while being below the Peak of Ten Thousand Nations himself, then even if he wasn’t classified as a C Level Talent on the Virtual Source Network, every major power would undoubtedly treat him as an honored guest.
At this thought, Xian Zhe spoke up.
"If Su Sheng has an Eternal Tier Healing Ability, I’ll do more than just offer a section of the Holy Healing Celestial Wood’s core and two pieces of its bark."
"I’ll cover all the materials needed for Su Sheng’s Order Beast to advance to the Fantasy Tier."
Star Night gave Xian Zhe a meaningful glance but did not reject his proposal.
Star Night could have afforded the materials for Zhong Yi’s Order Beast to advance to the Fantasy Tier himself.
The reason he didn’t refuse Xian Zhe’s proposal was that he was more than happy to see Xian Zhe, a genuine master at the Peak of Ten Thousand Nations, form a bond with Zhong Yi.
With the Blazing Kite Federation’s motives currently unclear, the Dragon’s Roost Continent was destined for a long period of turmoil.
Having another master from the Peak of Ten Thousand Nations backing him would allow Zhong Yi to develop more safely.
Zhong Yi could clearly sense Star Night’s concern for him, as well as the motive behind Xian Zhe’s sudden offer to provide materials.
Zhong Yi summoned the Resurrection Celestial Lord and, holding nothing back, had it project two Cores of Resurgence toward the wound on Xian Zhe’s arm.
Xian Zhe was just preparing to carefully gauge the strength of Zhong Yi’s healing...
...when the wound on his arm unexpectedly healed at an incredible speed!
This made both Xian Zhe’s and Star Night’s pupils constrict. They exchanged a shocked glance.
Neither of them had expected that Zhong Yi, while only at the Mortal Beast Tier, could use his Order Beast to heal an injury on someone at the Peak of Ten Thousand Nations.
It was important to understand that at the Peak of Ten Thousand Nations, one’s physical fortitude was far beyond that of the Eternal Tier.
An Eternal Tier Healing Ability would struggle to have any effect on an expert at the Peak of Ten Thousand Nations.
Even someone as emotionally reserved as Star Night couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
"Su Sheng, you’ve truly given me a wonderful surprise."
