274 Cat Dad’s Bully Meet Solomon’s Demon
Chapter 274 – Cat Dad’s Bully Meet Solomon’s Demon
After securing the Manila Room, the Einherjars stopped exploring. They changed shifts, telling the other reinforcements to replace them while the first batch of explorers retreated outside the dungeon to restore their sanity.
Because Joan went off on her own, the chain of command was in chaos. The Einherjars decided to take a break and saved their sanity potions.
As the exploration was on halt, players got to get in and play.
.
.
Meanwhile, Shu Han Guild camped at the same place. They had heard about the casualty on the first day of exploration and the destruction of Claymore and Spartan’s parties.
“What a shame,” Liu Bei lamented. “I wish we could have picked up the loot in the dungeon. The monsters must have stolen the items or eaten them all already.”
p anda nOvel.cO,m It was common knowledge that NPCs and monsters in this game could steal a player’s dropped items or utilize the environment. In the past, elite gnolls used to steal spellbooks in the dungeon and changed their classes, which gave Xiaomao a slight headache. And in this case, the local monsters were no different.
Jiang Wei disagreed, “No. It’s too early to jump into the fray. Let Joan and her arrogant Einherjars take the blunt first. Once the battle goes into a stalemate, it will be safe to go in.”
“Haiz. Whatever you say, chief.”
Liu Bei stopped talking to Jiang Wei and checked the guild chat. In his guild, players, who were all his classmates, suddenly stopped chatting even though they were always noisy. The girl, who used to hit on Xiaomao, was also a guild member. She always bragged about her boyfriend’s generosity and their sex life, but she also stopped talking.
‘Isn’t that bitch online? The boys, too. We agreed to skip school today and go online together. But how come they stop chatting?’
Suspicious, Liu Bei typed in a few words to the guild chat.
“Are you guys farming somewhere? The chat is quiet.”
Out of 100 guild members, 80 were online. Despite that, nobody talked or responded to Liu Bei’s words.
‘Have they devolved into nerds? They always bullied silent losers, but they’re now acting like one of them. What is happening?’
Unable to get a response, Liu Bei decided to log out and call his friends, who were not online.
.
Liu Bei opened his eyes and opened the game hatch. He stepped out of the game capsule and gazed at the glass window.
The 30th-floor view in a luxurious apartment always calmed Liu Bei whenever he woke up or got back from the game. He stared at the other buildings and the busy roads below, scoffing at the pedestrians.
“Sucks to be you. You are all slaves of society. Soon, I’ll succeed my father and enter the political field. You all can be my slaves by then!”
After laughing enough, Liu Bei picked up his phone and called one of his friends, who weren’t in the game.
DRUUUU
No one picked up the phone. After a minute of waiting, Liu Bei called another guy.
DRUUUU
Again, his friend didn’t pick up the phone.
“Dafuq is wrong with them?!”
Liu Bei was confused. He opened the local chat app and texted everybody he knew, including the online people in the game.
DING
The message was ticked. Someone read it. However, after a minute of waiting, nobody responded.
“Those idiots!”
Fed up and frustrated, Liu Bei changed his clothes and left his apartment. He got on his bike and rode to school.
At school, the students resumed their activities as usual. It was already 18:00, but many sports clubs were still operating. Boys and girls were jogging around the track. Soccer players still practiced their things, and many regular students still stayed in their classes, attending the “homework” and “self-study” classes.
Liu Bei rudely parked his bike in the school’s yard. He strode toward a goalkeeper nearby and yelled at him.
“Jian Yong! Why didn’t you respond to my freaking call?!”
The goalkeeper slowly turned to Liu Bei, staring at him with dull eyes. He muttered, “Player detected. Identity found. Liu Bei, affiliated with the Pangu Church. Non-Hostile.”
“What’s the matter with you?! Talk to me, asshole!”
Everyone on the track and field stopped moving and stared at Liu Bei. Their eyes turned pitch black, but they didn’t pounce on him like how they did on Wei Zhi.
While Liu Bei was yelling and making a ruckus, a towering burly man approached him. His big hand, bigger than Shaq’s, grabbed Liu Bei’s right shoulder.
The mysterious big guy leaned closer to Liu Bei and whispered, “Don’t disrespect your friends. Keep it down, can’t you?”
Liu Bei jumped away from the big man. He looked up and found someone, who shouldn’t exist in the modern world.
He was an embodiment of Hulk. His skin was blacker than native Africans, but his facial outline and features belonged to the South Asian. Most importantly, he was over three meters tall!
“Who… are… you?” Liu Bei was shocked and baffled. Someone as tall as this guy could have been a celebrity. He could have joined the basketball circle and made a lot of money.
The big guy coldly smiled, “I am Bathin, one of Solomon’s 72 Great Demons. Nice to meet you, little player.”
“Wut?”
Liu Bei wasn’t into mythos and folklore. The name was foreign to him.
Seeing Liu Bei’s reaction, Bathin was disappointed. “Shame. I thought at least one or two would know about me. It turns out that you’re illiterate. Shame!”
Bathin sighed, but he still smiled at Liu Bei, “Since you’re our ally, you have two choices. First, cooperate with us and pretend that demons don’t exist. Or two, spread words about our existence, and we will do everything in our power to silence you.”
“Hah?!” Liu Bei raised his brows. He didn’t believe in this huge guy, “Who do you think you are? Do you even realize who you are messing with?!”
“A son of a loser, I know.”
“You…”
Liu Bei was aware of the superpower perk from the game as he had recently upgraded his game character to ultra-rare. Believing in his 10% synchro rate, he threw a punch at the guy’s nuts.
PU
It connected, but Liu Bei’s wrist was dislocated.
“AAAHHH!! WHAT THE HELL?!”
Bathin burst into laughter, “Are you stupid? I’m a 99 star immortal. Obviously, a mortal’s punch can’t possibly hurt me!”
“YOU! WHAT ARE YOU?!” Liu Bei kept screaming.
Bathin sighed as he had enough of this farce. He flicked his fingers, and a shadow pool manifested under Liu Bei’s feet.
“AAAAHHH!!”
Liu Bei fell into the shadow pit. The pool instantly vanished.
Several minutes later, a silhouette of a human climbed out of Bathin’s shadow. His entire body was covered in crude-oil-like substances, but he didn’t seem to be disgusted by the fluid.
The person stood up and looked around for a moment. But when he found Bathin, he immediately kowtowed in fear.
“Liu Bei greets Your Excellency Bathin!”
Bathin laughed at the new appearance of Liu Bei. He swiped his face with an index finger and leaned closer.
“How was my stellar star? How many years did you get stuck in there, junior?”
Liu Bei shivered in fear. He muttered, “T-Ten years, Your Excellency!”
“Only ten years? I thought you lived there for a century. Did I miscalculate?”
“I-It was really ten years, Your Excellency! I was repeatedly killed for the past months before a horse kicked me out of that place!”
Bathin cackled and nodded, “You’re right. My dantian universe’s time dilation is a bit weird lately since my Time Law is not as good as the Cathulhus and Mao Miaomiao’s family. One minute over here is one year over there. Did you have fun in my private world?”
“N-no, sir!”
“No?” Bathin sneered and was about to snap his fingers.
“YES! YES, YOUR EXCELLENCY! Your universe is the greatest, sir!”
“Oh! I see. I see.”
Bathin coldly smirked and nodded in approval, “It’s a shame that I can’t replace you with my underlings since your soul belongs to Pangu. Anyway, let’s work together from now on, shall we?”
“Y-Yes, Your Excellency!”
“Good. Now, let’s talk for real. Come with me.”
Bathin laughed and invited Liu Bei to the school office. Liu Bei, still soaked with black goo, staggered and obediently followed the demon.
