.
The list went on for other elements. However, it cost PACT to learn these spells even though some of them could be acquired for free if Xiaomao had a proper mentor like Magdalene.
Still, it was a lot better than letting a mentor design a spell for him. After all, there was a limit to how many spells Xiaomao could learn in the beginning.
He checked the PACT balance in his account.
615,755 PACT
Xiaomao frowned and scratched his head. He didn’t remember adding so many PACTs to his account, but it increased on its own..
Curious, Xiaomao checked the backlog to see who added PACT to his wallet.
<Shepherd has given you a stack of PACT Bonds.>
<PACT Bond have been converted to 10,000 PACTs.>
<PACT Bond have been converted to 10,000 PACTs.>
<PACT Bond have been converted to 10,000 PACTs.>
<PACT Bond have been converted to 10,000 PACTs.>
<PACT Bond have been….>
“…”
It was Shepherd. That guy did something unnecessary.
Xiaomao’s favorability of Shepherd rose to 3 stars. He had the urge to browse the cash shop to buy fancy fashion clothes for the guy and Magdalene as rewards.
‘Alright. I have enough, but it doesn’t hurt to start <anno data-annotation-id=”f6d5e06f-873c-a412-e448-53c43e422e8e”>DCAing</anno> PACT tokens now.’
As Xiaomao had 4 million USDT in his crypto wallet, it was easy to convert them to another cryptocurrency. He switched his game menu to the coin-swap menu and exchanged one million dollars for PACTs!
CHA-CHING
<You have obtained 20,029,141 PACTs!>
Twenty million PACTs!
The average price of PACT was 0.049 dollars per token. It was still dirt cheap!
Xiaomao had the urge to buy more. However, because of his purchase, the token price jumped to 0.051 a few seconds later.
The cryptocurrency price always fluctuated as millions of traders were buying and selling tokens in real-time.
Xiaomao stared at the graph and pursed his lips. His trembling tentacle allocated two million dollars and exchanged more tokens. After all, he would need every token for the years to come, and it wouldn’t hurt buying it now!
CHA-CHING
<You have obtained 35,087,719 PACTs!>
This time, Xiaomao got the average price of 0.057 dollars per token. The PACT price was rising.
Xiaomao bit the tip of his tongue and closed the crypto exchange menu. He steeled his heart not to look at the current price and succumb to greed.
It took him a minute to pace his breathing and racing heart. He managed to save the last one million USDT to be exchanged into real money.
Thinking of the one million USDT in his crypto wallet, Xiaomao curled his tentacles like how he clenched his fists.
He won!
He defeated his greedy heart demon!
He earned a million dollars!
He now had 55,732,615 PACTs, and the price would increase to billions of dollars next year!
He was rich!
Xiaomao forgot about his objectives in life for a moment, savoring the taste of having a million dollars in the bank for the first time in his life. No one could remain calm after they realized that they won in life.
“You seem to be in good mood,” the nun giggled.
“Oh, excuse me, munya. I’ll decide now!”
Xiaomao snapped back to his sense and coughed, hiding his embarrassment. He began pressing the Light Element intermediate spells to add to the shopping cart.
Although it was counterintuitive to stack one type of element as an elemental mage, Xiaomao picked all basic white magic spells as everything was useful in the future. Then, he picked Party Heal and Area Heal.
He grabbed the three basic spells because they could evolve into intermediate spells later on. Self-Heal would evolve into Fast Heal. Heal could become High Heal, and Cure could turn into Purification. As for the group-heal spells, they couldn’t be obtained like the other three spells.
After picking the white magic, Xiaomao could only get two more intermediate spells or five basic spells of other elements.
Xiaomao switched to the Lightning Element category. He ignored the other elements as he had something else in his mind.
The super rare spell, Lightning Storm, could synergize with one of the intermediate spells, and that spell could bring more power to the table.
.
<strong>Basic Spells – Lightning Magic</strong> (100 PACT per Spell)
Bzz Bzz
Lightning Ball
Static Enchantment
<strong>Intermediate Spells – Lightning Magic</strong> (1,000 PACT per Spell)
Zappy Zap
Lightning Bolt
Electric Enchantment
Did You Swear?
.
Xiaomao giggled when he found the desired spell’s name. He remembered how the player community complained that a certain lightning spell was so overpowered that it became a meme.
.
<strong>Did You Swear?</strong>
Once upon a time, a man swore to Heaven that he would never cheat his wife, but he cheated nonetheless. He was struck by the tribulation lightning of heaven, but he didn’t die on the spot. The man regretted that he didn’t die since that day. Every time he heard the sound of thunder, he always hid underground, praying to heaven to forgive him.

.
The spell seemed weak at glance, and it didn’t look like it belonged to the intermediate category. However, this spell was deadliest when multiple lightning mages grouped together.
The meme debuff, [You Swore, Right?], was something that all victims always raged and complained about. Everybody that got hit with this abnormal status effect always swore in the real world for its unfairness.
Did You Swear?
Of course, all players who received that attack swore and cursed the casters’ parents for raising such troll children.
.
<strong>You Swore, Right?</strong>
You did, right? You sure did. It would have been wrong if you didn’t. Good for you!
<strong>Effect: </strong>
– All lightning spells have a 100% chance of hitting you regardless of the target and conditions.
– The damage is always critical.
– You cannot dodge or defend any lightning element spell.
– Lightning damage ignores all magic defense and physical defense.
.
Xiaomao couldn’t help but laugh when he checked the detail of the debuff effect. He immediately added the [Did you Swear?] spell to the shopping cart.
He swiped the teardrop on his face, but he couldn’t stop giggling. He couldn’t wait to see the reactions of his victims in the future.
Now, he had one more intermediate spell or three basic spells to choose from the shop.
‘I have long-ranged spells, but I don’t have a crowd-control spell yet. Oh, right. I forgot about that combo. It’s going to be hilarious!’
Xiaomao cackled as he picked three basic spells from other elements.
