Cast as the Foil, She Went Viral on a Military Reality Show
Chapter 163: The End
Chapter 163: Chapter 163: The End
Money is important to everyone, and they’re no exception. It’s just that they can earn this money back, so it doesn’t make a huge impression on them.
Zara Chapman looked at Renee Morgan, who was surrounded by everyone, and instantly averted her gaze. She turned around to say goodbye to the director. The competition was over, the show was coming to an end, and as for the celebration party afterwards, she decided not to attend.
"Prescott, please arrange for me to return to my country first." She didn’t want to stay another minute.
The director noticed that her complexion didn’t look well, thinking he might have delayed her other work. He got anxious and quickly said, "Miss Chapman, don’t worry. The celebration party will be held back home. Once the program ends, we will immediately arrange for everyone to return. At that time, the officers will escort us back, so you can absolutely rest assured about safety."
Zara Chapman didn’t want to travel with them.
It’s just that coming and going from the base required an officer to lead the way. Otherwise, none of the crew, including the director, could leave. They couldn’t exactly have the officer personally escort her alone to the airport.
She might be bold in her imagination, but she didn’t have the guts to ask. After all, being an officer wasn’t an ordinary job—one misstep, and she’d probably never be able to show her face again in the future.
Fortunately, it was late at night. Zara couldn’t keep up her expression any longer, so she lied about not being able to stay up, and quickly escaped the scene.
Miles Yates looked at the girl surrounded by the crowd, a gentle and heartwarming smile appearing at the corner of his mouth.
It wasn’t until everyone else had left that he finally moved his hesitant steps toward her.
Everyone was so enthusiastic that Renee Morgan nearly lost her breath. When she saw Miles Yates—the only one she hadn’t hugged yet—she proactively opened her arms, "Mr. Yates."
Miles Yates’s hug was very gentlemanly, just a light embrace, and then he took a step back, raising both hands slightly, a smile on his lips: "Morgan, you’re the brightest star—not just tonight."
The brightest star.
This was the most touching and sincere blessing from a senior in the entertainment industry.
All of Renee Morgan’s exhaustion vanished. She gave him a smile that could turn the world upside down and replied with equal sincerity, "Thank you, Mr. Yates. I will keep forging ahead."
By the time she returned to her dorm, it was already past one in the morning.
Renee Morgan grabbed her clothes and toiletries and hurried to the bathhouse.
By the time she walked out, an hour had passed. She had changed into fresh clothes and was casually drying her damp hair with a towel, looking refreshed and energetic.
Seeing Zayed waiting in the corridor, Renee Morgan was both surprised and not.
Because of the base pass recommendation quota, Zayed had approached her a few times before, but Renee had never given him a clear answer.
It was only after the base competition that she suddenly figured something out.
The officers had explained to them that the base involved various powers, not just their own country, Z, but also other countries, including M country.
Just one base pass could make all sorts of organizations from different countries vie for it. The complexities involved were not something ordinary people could understand quickly.
In such a situation, if she rashly gave out a recommendation, she might not even know how she’d end up.
Renee Morgan had made up her mind, so she decided to speak frankly with him: "Zack, I’m from Z country. Acting is my profession. Getting this pass was completely by chance. I don’t intend to use it for profit, nor will I use it lightly. I’m sorry."
This result was within expectations, so Zayed wasn’t disappointed. Knowing they would soon part ways, he asked with some nervousness, "Morgan, after you return to Z country, will we still be friends?"
Renee Morgan’s gaze was gentle as she answered with a tone of determination, "As long as you don’t do anything illegal or immoral, of course we’re friends. That will never change."
Her words were a bit blunt, but it was better to make things clear from the start. The words may sound harsh but the meaning was right.
Whether you’re an ordinary person or an artist, it’s not wrong to value your own reputation. On matters of principle, you must always have your own stance.
Especially since her profession was as a public figure—a role model for the public—she could never be friends with dangerous people.
Zayed admired Renee Morgan’s frankness. He flashed a smile, revealing a set of clean white teeth. His clear eyes held a young man’s fearless courage: "Alright, I’ll listen to you—I’ll earn the cleanest money."
"..."
After saying goodbye to Zayed and hanging her clothes out to dry, Renee finally picked up her washbasin and returned to her room.
It was already past two in the morning. Just as she was about to climb into bed and rest, there was a knock at the door—the voice outside belonged to one of the officers.
Renee quickly got up, changed into a clean uniform, tied her hair up high, put on her hat, and only opened the door after confirming that she was presentable.
There were three people at the door in total. Besides the officer in the Z country uniform, the other two were probably from the base, since their uniforms had the base’s logo.
"Hello, officer..." Renee greeted the officer first, then looked at the other two and politely said, "Hello."
The officer’s gaze was filled with barely concealed admiration. He explained, "These two are base staff. Since you won the championship, your original base member status will be upgraded to senior member. You’ll need to come with them for the procedure."
Renee trusted the officer. She closed the door behind her and followed the three out of the dormitory building.
The four of them got into a car, and about ten minutes later stopped at a building.
Just before going in, the officer stopped her.
Renee looked back at him in confusion, "Officer, aren’t you coming in?"
The officer shook his head. His usually stern face broke into a rare smile as he gently replied, "I’m not a senior member, so I can’t go in."
Renee looked like she half understood, so she didn’t say anything for a moment.
The officer pressed his lips together, hiding his smile, then walked over to her and asked, "Are you scared?"
Renee shook her head, then nodded and said, "I feel more at ease with you here."
The officer’s eyes grew misty, but his expression became even more serious and stern as he continued, "Renee Morgan, you are the first senior member among all Z country representatives stationed at the base. There may be a second or third in the future...but for now, you’re the only one. So you must be brave, strong, and fearless. Do you understand?"
Renee didn’t know what this status meant, but could sense how important it was to her country. She nodded quickly, "Officer, I understand."
The officer’s strict expression softened a bit. He told her, "Go in, I’ll wait for you to come down."
"Thank you, officer." Renee broke into a smile and turned to head inside.
Renee had already known that winning the base competition would get her a reward, but she really didn’t know the specifics.
When it was announced that she’d won tonight, she was genuinely curious about how much she’d get.
But before she had a chance to ask the other contestants, the squad leader drove in and took her out right away.
As for the fact that getting the highest championship score meant she would become a senior base member, she had just found out from the officer.
Back then, she had struggled with everything she had, nearly losing her life, just to pass the forest assessment at the base and be accepted as a member.
