I wondered, with everything they knew about the Bloodrool Hybrids, how come the Seven Princes of Hell believed the story spun by the representative of the Bloodrool race?

Were they overwhelmed by the idea that they had been approached by an ancient, true ruler-class force and were just happy at the prospect of establishing trade with them?

I could see how the prospect of associating with an ancient, true ruler-class force could be attractive enough for a semi-ruler-class dark faction like the Seven Princes of Hell to develop blind spots in their judgment.

To begin with, they truly didn’t care what the Bloodrools planned to do with the Card World. The faction also dabbled in the slave trade, so they were more than happy to have a contact within the Bloodrool race, one of the biggest consumers in the slave market. And not to mention, the Bloodrool race was paying a premium price for the rights to the Card World. To them, they weren’t losing anything. As the saying goes, what you don’t know doesn’t hurt you.

But for me, the Bloodrools’ intentions were more important than what they were offering. So, the story the representative of the Bloodrool race sold to the faction leaders of the Seven Princes of Hell was not only full of holes but also made me more suspicious about their intentions. Because when had the strong ever given an explanation to the weak under the Demon Merchant Code?

The Bloodrools were clearly using the Seven Princes of Hell to spread the story to those who were eyeing their moves. You don’t go around telling people things you don’t want them to know under the guise of a flimsy non-disclosure agreement contract unless you want them to spread the information you were telling them.

It’s like when an acquaintance tells you something about themselves and then asks you not to tell anyone. But the thought never crosses your mind until they ask you not to, making it forbidden and more likely that you would share it with someone you trust not to share it with others, and so the chain continues. Before you know it, you are at the receiving end of the chain.

There were proven social experiments around it. No matter who you were, you would have a certain someone whom you trusted to keep your secrets unless you were a recluse or someone who was too busy to participate in such social norms.

Given the Seven Princes of Hell dark faction’s need to grow their reputation to keep up with the times, it was inevitable that they would brag about their connections to fellow forces, and very soon, the news would be out. This was clear considering the standard non-disclosure agreement contract that the seven faction leaders signed with the representative of the Bloodrool race.

Yes, the seven faction leaders didn’t sign a devil contract or swear an oath but a standard contract. When the seven faction leaders themselves eagerly proposed swearing an oath with the Origin Source of the Myriad Realms as the witness, the representative rejected the idea, saying he trusted them, flattering the seven faction leaders.

Yes, a hybrid who didn’t even bother to treat their own parents or siblings with the minimum respect due to a fellow being because they had lower bloodline purity had not only gone out of his way to explain his plans with the Card World to the seven faction leaders of the Seven Princes of Hell but had also flattered them by saying he trusted them, getting them to sign a standard contract that had no supernatural binding force and required the parties involved to follow the contract or face the consequences.

This whole deal stank to high heavens. The Bloodrools had bigger plans for the Card World than learning the cause of the blood rule storm across the Card World and implementing it in their realm.

To confirm my speculation, I decided to test the representative of the Bloodrool race.

“Mommon, share the recording of Belphegor’s protest against selling the rights to the Card World to the Bloodrool race, his private meeting with you, and his attempt to rally the faction leaders against selling the rights to the Card World to the Bloodrool race with the words, ‘We got a problem,'” I instructed Mommon while mentally ordering Hive Spirit to help him with the details.

I believed that the response of the representative of the Bloodrool race would confirm how truthful their story about buying the rights to the Card World was. Even if it didn’t, I would still be sending Belphegor an early present. The Bloodrool Hybrids had a very high inferiority complex, and their world’s social hierarchy thrived on it. They wouldn’t tolerate being undermined. I had no idea what Belphegor was planning, but he was in for a treat.

“Master, I have sent the text attached to both recordings to the representative of the Bloodrool race,” Mommon reported. Now, all we had to do was wait, or so I thought. The representative of the Bloodrool race replied instantly, making me wonder if they even read it properly let alone give a proper response to it: “We will handle it. Thank you for the tip. From today onwards, you are an ally of the Bloodrool Hegemony. If you’re free, please do grace us with your presence.”

The reply was attached to an invitation to a party for all the allies of the Bloodrool Hegemony in the Sunless Realm.

The response of the Bloodrool race representative was bigger than I expected. I didn’t think they would declare Mommon an ally of the Bloodrool Hegemony over something so trivial, unless it wasn’t as I had speculated.

Yep, this confirmed it: the story about learning the cause of the blood rule storm in the Card World and implementing it in the Sunless Realm was all a cover for something they planned to do with the Card World but didn’t want the rest of the Myriad Realms to find out about.
