Chapter 3203: Cosmic Calamity Seed
Date: Unspecified
Time: Unspecified
Location: Myriad Cosmos Corridor, Unknow
“Is this the cosmic balance you keep telling me about?”
I asked while looking around the Myriad Cosmos Corridor. I wondered if we were in a facility within a Myriad Cosmos Corridor. Was there more to it? Or was this white expanse what the Myriad Cosmos Corridor looked like?
“Yes, cosmic balance. Based on how the balance shifts, the expansion of the cosmos accelerates or decelerates—”
“Does that mean that there is an ideal rate of expansion at which an ideal cosmos would expand?” I cut in, asking BoBo if there was a standard for what an ideal cosmos in the Myriad Cosmos should be like.
“Even though all the cosmos are not the same, they all have an ideal state, a perfect balance, contributing to the expansion of the Myriad Cosmos, in turn expanding the Myriad Cosmos Corridor—”
“I expected as much. I’m guessing there are hundreds of cosmos dying and new cosmos being born every moment,” I blurted out my thoughts, interrupting BoBo again, excited that, just as I had guessed, the Myriad Cosmos was expanding too.
“Sorry!” I apologised to BoBo, who was patient enough not to snap back at me for interrupting her explanation twice in a row, as I scratched the back of my head.
“No, no, I like that you are so interested in learning the workings of Cosmos. Most World Calamity Trees that make it here don’t care about why, just do what they were created to do. I have to force them to listen so that they just don’t go destroying realms after realms, becoming a problem instead of being the solution they are meant to be. But with enough experience, they get wiser like all beings,” BoBo clarified, rejecting my apology.
“And it’s not hundreds, but millions of cosmos dying and new cosmos being born every moment. The Myriad Cosmos is very big, and it keeps growing bigger every moment.”
BoBo rolled and stretched in my hair in delight. The only thing she was missing was a satisfied purr. Unlike Dredre, who likes to rest there, BoBo seemed to love to play there. I guess the difference was because of the curse. One was healing while the other was enjoying herself.
“So, how does a myriad cosmos expand and why?” I asked, hoping BoBo would answer me in the flow, even though it meant going off topic for a bit. But I was wrong. She had caught on to my intent.
“I can tell you how the Myriad Cosmos expands. As for the other part of the question, I cannot. But if you are curious about how it evolved into a Cosmic Calamity Tree, I will tell you everything you want to know about the Myriad Cosmos. Until then, be satisfied with knowing about the Cosmos, deal?” BoBo offered, peeking down from my hair, causing her long golden-blonde hair to hang down.
That made me think of gravity and wonder where the gravity in the Myriad Cosmos Corridor was coming from. My first guess was that the white landscape I was in wasn’t the Myriad Cosmos Corridor, but a structure or facility built in the corridor capable of mimicking gravity. After all, the Myriad Cosmos Corridor was the gap with the ever-expanding cosmoses.
Otherwise, it meant that the Myriad Cosmos Corridor had its own gravity, which would mean that its gravity was pulling in the ever-expanding cosmos, which was definitely not the case.
Therefore, we were in a structure that was built by or for Primordial Pixies to monitor the Myriad Cosmos from myriad corridors. It had to be the Primordial Pixies. They built the cosmos, so building a nest in the Myriad Cosmos Corridor, like birds build nests, shouldn’t be hard for them.
BoBo did say that her entire tribe was here.
But why did they build it like a modern white landscape with nothing in it instead of their signature forests? Was it because this place was only for the Pixies and World Calamity Seeds? If other beings wanted to arrive here, did they need to possess the appropriate prowess?
I wanted to ask BoBo about this, but she had already made it clear that I could learn the workings of Cosmos but not the Myriad Cosmos and its Corridor unless it demanded it. Still, I decided to try my luck with her again. “What’s a Cosmic Calamity Tree?”
“That’s for a World Calamity Seed to figure out by themselves. Otherwise, it would not do its job unbiased and impartially, but instead seek out realms that would help its growth rather than maintain the balance of the cosmos. Its actions would no longer be to protect the cosmos but to serve itself.”
I failed again. I thought it would lead to a question demanding me to know about the Myriad Cosmos and its Corridor, but she shot me down without going into the details and just using moral grounds.
“But you told me that I had a choice, unlike the other World Calamity Trees,” I countered, believing that the Cosmic Calamity Tree was the transcendent equivalent of the World Calamity Tree.
“Yes, you are different from the other World Calamity Trees, but you still possess the prowess of the World Calamity Tree, which comes with responsibilities. You have the choice to bear them or not. It’s up to you how you will use that prowess, but I cannot be part of something where you end up using that prowess to harm the cosmos. Therefore, even if it’s you, I can’t tell you about the Cosmic Calamity Seed, except for the fact that you have the potential to become one,” BoBo explained, making it clear that though she might favour me, she would do anything to prevent the possibility of harming a cosmos. Basically, duty before friendship.
“Does that mean the answer to me evolving into the Cosmic Calamity Tree is within the Myriad Realms, unlike the path to transcendence, right? Or are there such things as Barred World Calamity Trees too?”
BoBo had already revealed to me that there wasn’t a path to transcendence in the Myriad Realms, so I feared that if the Cosmic Calamity Tree was the transcendent equivalent of the World Calamity Tree, the Myriad Realms also didn’t have the path for a World Calamity Seed to become a Cosmic Calamity Seed.
