Listening to Veerott plead with them to leave him alone, the frowns on Seraphina and Aqualas’s faces only deepened.

For perhaps the first time, the two found themselves confronting a problem they had no idea how to solve. What do you do when the person you’re trying to save doesn’t want to be saved?

What Seraphina and Aqualas failed to understand was that Veerott never had a problem with them helping him. He had a problem with the kind of help they were offering. It was like a man begging for water while his friends kept handing him cola.

Yes, both were drinks. But only one quenched the thirst he was feeling.

"Veerott, open your eyes." Seraphina stepped forward, unable to give up. "He’s not the kind of person you can trust. He’ll help himself and never help you—"

"Seraphina, enough!" Veerott’s sudden outburst interrupting Serahpina stunned everyone present.

Even Petra raised an eyebrow. The giant’s voice trembled with frustration. His gaze remained fixed on Seraphin, as he proposed, "Find me another person like him. Then we’ll talk."

Seraphina froze. For a moment, she had no response. She wanted to argue about morality, ethics, and trust. She wanted to explain why Southern Hope was dangerous, manipulative, and cruel. The kind of person no sane individual should willingly follow.

But what she failed to understand was that Veerott had already moved beyond those concerns. The moment Southern Hope faked his death, Veerott had realized something. He didn’t have a choice. Or perhaps more accurately... He wasn’t willing to give up this chance and wait for who knows how long for him to find a Viltornian as capable as him.

Despite being a Viltronian, Southern Hope was standing against the worlds strongest Card Apprentices and practically carving his empire out of the five regions. Veerott didn’t believe he would be able to find a Viltronian as capable as him.

Even if he could, he didn’t want to give up on this shiver of hope before him, not after searching for so long, after waiting for so many years, after carrying the burden of an extinct race alone.

Before him stood a living Viltronian. Perhaps the only other one in existence who could help him bring the Viltronian race back to its former glory but in a different shade. There was a possibility, a future, a hope, and Veerott refused to let that hope slip through his fingers.

He believed that once Southern Hope learned the truth about himself, his origins, and his people, everything would change. He believed they could stand together and rebuild together, carrying the burden together.

Perhaps he was being naive or he was simply desperate. Besides, Veerott had his reasons. Southern Hope might be ruthless, manipulative, and everything Seraphina said. But Veerott didn’t believe he was truly evil and heartless.

After all, two Supreme beings stood beside him. The Stone Supreme had risked her life to avenge him. Petra fought alongside him. trusted him. argued with him, yet protected him.

People capable of reaching the level of closeness with Supreme Beings could be bad At least, that was what Veerott believed. Plus, Petra’s trust in the Southern Hope, made one thing clear he wasn’t a liar. And so Veerott chose to believe in him.

Meanwhile, Petra, who still didn’t fully understand what was happening and had spent the last several minutes being ignored by her supposed ally, had finally had enough.

*Bam!* She marched up behind me and heavily patted my back, remarking, "Wyatt, come on. Let’s kill these fools already."

"Fuck!" I cursed as my entire body lurched forward.

For Petra, that had probably been a friendly pat. For everyone else, it looked like being struck by a siege weapon.

I felt as though an entire small mountain had landed on my back. If an ordinary card apprentice had been standing in my place, they would have died instantly. A slightly stronger one might have survived. Minus an arm and a few ribs.

Petra blinked innocently. Apparently, she still hadn’t fully adjusted to her own strength. Getting no response from me, she crossed her arms in irritation.

"Wyatt, why aren’t we killing them already and getting this over with?" She tilted her head. "I thought you were a busy guy."

This time, I answered. After all, she had risked her life trying to avenge me. That alone earned her an explanation. I glanced toward the trio and with an obvious disdain in my tone, I began, "Aqualas? I could’ve thrown her into the void and killed Seraphina dozens of times already."

Listening to my arrogant words, Seraphina’s expression darkened and Aqualas looked ready to start another fight. Both of them knew I wasn’t boasting. I had already demonstrated more than enough means to kill them.

The only reason they were still alive was because I had allowed it. Then I looked at Veerott. The giant immediately straightened. For some reason, he looked oddly proud. Honestly, I had no idea what was going on inside his head.

"I’m tolerating all this because of their giant friend," I continued pointing my gaze at Veerott. "He’s worth more than Aqualas and hundreds of Seraphinas combined."

"He is genuinely strong. I can see why you’re interested in him," Petra nodded, taking in my reasoning.

She had never seen a creature quite like Veerott—someone capable of neutralizing mineral crystallization within his own body using sheer internal pressure. How his body didn’t just burst like a volcano of blood from all that built-up pressure was completely beyond her.

Glancing over at Aqualas and Seraphina, who refused to leave Veerott’s side, Petra offered, "Do you want me to throw the other two out of your territory? That way, you can start training him as your subordinate."

"No," came the reply. "If he has the strength and resolve to deal with his past on his own, only then will he have the strength and resolve for the future that awaits him with me."
