Chapter 2793: Overclock Card

Date: Unspecified

Time: Unspecified

Location: Myriad Realms, Card World, Southern Region, Blossom District, Gideon Grim’s Camp

"Maybe they didn’t notice it," Corey quickly defended, turning to look at me as she undid her fusion form.

"You lit up the whole damn region like the sun had descended. One would have to be blind or an utter fool not to notice it," I refuted, but then I received a message from Gideon that the Supreme Leader had called him to check on him, asking about the sudden light. He avoided suspicion by blaming it on his devil reinforcements that had just arrived. Now, since all the preparations were done, they were preparing to march to the Sky Blossom city at the earliest.

Learning this, I couldn’t help but smile. Catching it, Corey asked, "What happened?"

"You were wrong again. They did notice, but they don’t suspect anything for now. Let us hurry back to Sansa’s camp and launch our attack as they are preparing to march to the Sky Blossom City," I informed, preparing to leave, but Corey paused, asking, "What about victims and the desolate dimension array formation? Can I have the array formation? My family can use it."

"Fine, I will ask Gideon to hand it to you when he is done with it," I agreed, but my answer confused Corey, who was looking at me, wondering if she heard me wrong or if I misspoke. "Wyatt, didn’t you kill Gideon?"

"No, I didn’t. He begged to join my criminal rehabilitation and reintegration program, promising to turn over a new leaf. And to prove he is prepared to atone, he is going to undo his brainwashing on his victims. He is also the reason the Supreme Leader and the Emissary of Light didn’t suspect anything from your earlier debacle," I explained as we hurried out over Sansa’s camp.

I rode the tension between my celestial force and the Card World’s ambient celestial fields, pushing against it just enough to lift myself off the ground. With a thin layer of force insulating me from air resistance, I cut through the sky with almost no drag, accelerating to several times the speed of sound without tearing myself apart.

Ahead of me, Corey lounged on Lil’Baem’s head, the massive snake deliberately slowing its pace to match mine. Making sure to fly a few feet in front of me. The damn thing was absurdly fast but stubborn as hell. She refused to let me ride her, and now she was taunting me. This made me make up my mind to contract a stronger and faster familiar/mount than Corey’s Lil’Baem. She was going to rue the day she dared to mess with me.

As I said that, it crossed my mind how absurd I sounded. Not because of the pettiness—I nurtured it—but because Lil’ Baem was a primordial being like the Pixies and the World Calamity Trees. There were hardly any primordial beings left in the myriad realms. Most were extinct, and even if some managed to survive, who knew in which corner of the myriad realms they were lurking in.

Nearing the enemy’s encampment, I used my dual presence to move to the spiritual plane and find the opening of Sansa’s spiritual channel, travelled through it, and appeared in her camp next to her. Meanwhile, Lil’Baem dashed in at its fastest speed, such that nobody noticed it as it entered the encampment through the main gate. It was incredibly fast over long stretches compared to short bursts.

"How did it go?" the Field Marshal asked, seeing us arrive. Corey excitedly informed them, "I killed two of my old comrades who used to be my subordinates in my past life, but now they are devils and work for the people who killed me. Meanwhile, Wyatt let Gideon Grim go free, as the latter promised to join his criminal rehabilitation and reintegration program. So, the usual."

The Field Marshal looked at her young lord and then at Sansa. She had no idea how he had the heart not to kill them, but also to give them a second chance, helping them redeem themselves in society’s eyes. What was more shocking was that it was already showing. Sansa, who was sitting before them, was an example of it. The Field Marshal was in awe of her young lord’s big heart. Even though every time he forgave someone and gave them a second chance, she couldn’t help but wonder if this was when he would fail and the dominoes would fall.

"Sansa, go do your thing with your Paw Clan as they gather forces to continue their march to the city," I ordered her, and then, turning to the Field Marshal, I asked, "Which one do you want? The Supreme Leader or the Emissary of Light? Either is fine by me, so choose the one you would like to test your strength against."

"I will take the Emissary of Light. This way, you can finish the Supreme Leader first and come join me against the Emissary of Light," the Field Marshal made her choice, giving a valid reason, but actually, she couldn’t wait to test her new strength and martial arts against the strongest of the new three mischiefs, the emissary of light.

"Alright," I nodded, going along with the Field Marshal’s choice even though I had unfinished business with the Emissary of Light. However, I had a bigger bone to pick with the Supreme Leader of the Circle.

"What about me?" Corey asked eagerly, but I shook my head, saying, "Make sure you stay out of our way. These guys will definitely use the time rule in the fight. They are out of your league."

"I too have equipped the Overclock card the Morningstar University sent. I can fight," Corey demanded. I shook my head at her, saying, "Corey, I have already explained this to you. Don’t make me repeat myself."

Knowing that Corey wasn’t going to listen to reason, I turned to Lil’Baem, coiled around her wrist, and said, "Your mother’s life is in your hands now. Stop her from doing something stupid. Or better yet, take her back to the city."

For once, the damn snake agreed with me. Before Corey could react, she swallowed her whole and vanished from the encampment.
