Cannon Fodder In Apocalypse: I Rule With Sanctuary Evolution System
Chapter 122: Flowers
Meng Xiaoni stood at the gate, silently watching Ni Mengxue as she entered the RV.
He didn’t say anything. He simply stood there.
Ni Mengxue, on the other hand, immediately got inside. She knew that if she stayed any longer, her resolve would waver.
She would probably rush toward Meng Xiaoni, hug him, and refuse to leave.
Once inside the RV, her expression became crestfallen.
Lu Yucai was already sitting in the living room. He clenched the armrest of his wheelchair before murmuring under his breath,
"I still have a chance. I shouldn’t waste it. I’m much closer to her now compared to the others."
With that thought strengthening his resolve, he wheeled himself toward the main room and began practicing walking.
He could already walk and even fight if necessary, but there were still some lingering side effects from his injuries that needed to be dealt with.
The RV soon started moving.
Ni Mengxue focused on absorbing the ice zombie crystals while constantly staying beside Lu Yucai.
Lu Yucai looked at her helplessly.
It had already been two days since they had started traveling, yet Ni Mengxue hadn’t left his side even once.
What hurt him even more was that whenever she needed to use the bathroom, she would take Lu Yucai into her space first and ask him to wait there.
She would hide every sharp object and had even gone as far as forbidding anyone from saying anything that might upset him.
She constantly chatted with him or told him about how life could still become better.
Lu Yucai observed everything in silence. He didn’t say much.
During those two days, Li Han had also been busy collecting various flowers.
One day, he proudly brought out a small yellow flower with a greenish tip and a hint of red at its center.
He showed it to everyone as if he had discovered a priceless treasure.
His other friends simply rolled their eyes.
They couldn’t understand what was so special about the flower.
Meanwhile, Ni Mengxue was sitting in the RV’s living room when she noticed Li Han eating while excitedly bragging about his latest discovery.
She walked over and casually took the flower from his hand.
Li Han immediately pouted.
His delicate, feminine features made the expression look almost more like a spoiled young lady’s tantrum than a man’s.
"Ni Mengxue, you’re even snatching things from me now. I’m starting to regret this. I genuinely wonder if you were sincere about opening a shop for me."
Ni Mengxue smiled.
"I would never give anyone false hope. I was only checking the flower. In fact, this flower is very special."
Li Han immediately asked with interest, "What special effect?"
Ni Mengxue directly explained, "This kind of flower can be crushed into powder. If you feed it to an animal, it will send the animal into extreme heat, causing its body to swell and eventually explode."
For a moment, everyone fell silent. They stared at Ni Mengxue.
She continued calmly, "Not only that, if this flower is mixed with a special perfume called Lily Perfume, it can produce a potion that can be used to make mutated animals faint."
Everyone quickly looked at her.
"Ni Mengxue, it seems like you have a lot of grudges against mutated animals."
Ni Mengxue’s lips twitched.
She wanted to tell them that in the interstellar era, humanity’s biggest problem wasn’t just food but the rifts that suddenly appeared throughout the universe, allowing monsters to invade their worlds.
Because of that, countless types of monster potions and mutated-animal potions had been developed specifically to deal with them.
Every interstellar citizen was even required to memorize the basic compositions of such potions as part of their survival education.
But she wasn’t going to explain all that.
Instead, she looked at the flower and asked, "How much of this do you have?"
Li Han immediately became guarded.
"Ni Mengxue, don’t you dare think about it. I have..."
"Almost a hundred jin," Ai Qing suddenly interrupted.
Li Han froze.
"This guy was fascinated by it and picked quite a lot."
Ni Mengxue looked at Li Han.
Li Han was glaring furiously at Ai Qing.
Ai Qing was the space ability user among Lu Yucai’s ten subordinates. He was usually a quiet person who rarely spoke, but for some reason, he seemed to have a particular grudge against Li Han.
Ni Mengxue didn’t know what had happened between them during this journey.
At the beginning of the trip, they had acted like close friends, constantly joking and laughing together. Yet, at some point, they had suddenly become enemies.
It was baffling, but Ni Mengxue didn’t pay much attention to it. She looked at Li Han seriously.
"I’m ready to trade items for it."
Li Han immediately waved his hand. "Even if you give me gold, I won’t sell it."
Ni Mengxue stared at him. "I’m ready to give you ten kilograms of pure rice."
Li Han’s lips twitched. "Well... now that I think about it, I suppose I can part with it. It’ll be difficult, though."
Everyone burst into laughter.
Ni Mengxue subconsciously glanced toward Fu Lin while laughing.
She was surprised to find that he looked much better than before. Suspicion immediately arose in her mind.
’If I’m not mistaken, Fu Lin was the one who overheard my conversation with Lu Yucai.’
So why was he acting so calm and composed now? It was suspicious.
’Unless he’s planning something and intends to execute it secretly.’
If that was the case, she would have to guard against him as well.
Just as she was thinking this, she felt someone tugging at her sleeve.
She turned around and saw Fu Jingg looking at her with a smile. "Sister Ni, I bought a lot of perfumes this time."
Ni Mengxue frowned. "Perfumes?"
Fu Jing nodded happily.
"I asked Brother Ai to keep them in his space. You know, my mother used to say that I smelled bad. So I bought a lot of perfumes to make sure I always smell nice. If we ever meet her again, she won’t be able to complain anymore."
