CAIUS: Crown of Threads and Shadows
CHAPTER 263: THE VEYUUN TOKEN
Caius narrowed his eyes slightly, activating the Eye of the Loom. Through the synchronized perception of Far Sight and Inner Sight, the physical world dissolved into radiant streams of raw energy. Deep within Commander Altan, five massive, glowing Pillar Mana Cores flared like ancient monoliths, channeling mana through a flawless, perpetual cycle, representing the unmistakable internal trajectory of the Path of Eternal Harmony.
A subtle curve touched Caius's lips, genuinely impressed. "You're a disciple of the Veyuun Sect?"
The atmosphere instantly plunged into a bone-chilling frost. Altan’s serene composure vanished, replaced by an edge of absolute, guarded lethality. "What do you know of the Veyuun Sect?" Altan demanded, frost creeping rapidly across the stone dais beneath his bare feet. "More importantly... how do you know that?"
At the silent aura shift, the surrounding twenty thousand Stormguard legionnaires responded with terrifying, machine-like unity. Forged of darksteel and aurichalcum alloy, their full-coverage Corinthian combat helms obscured every trace of human feature, leaving only narrow, expressionless eye slits staring out like motionless war-golems. Without a word, thousands of heavy round shields locked together with a thunderous crack, leveling a forest of long spears straight at Caius and Old Bones.
Old Bones moved before the steel even settled. Sensing the direct threat, his shadow tore open. Two sleek Vel'xul Stalkers stepped out from the abyss, manifesting as humanoid obsidian skeletons wrapped in black energy threads, their featureless masks pierced by four vertical eye slits glowing with dark violet mana. Blade-like dreadlocks flared behind them as their double-edged, poison-coated blade tails whipped through the air, their kinetic obsidian claws flexing to tear metal. Beside them, Old Bones’ own body dissolved into a writhing mist of a thousand shadow blades, primed to shred the hoplite ranks to ash.

"Wait! Master, stop!"
Nyzech and Bruga leapt frantically into the dead space between the forces, their faces completely drained of color. Having witnessed Caius wipe out the rot horde in the Red Realm like a god of war, the thought of an escalation horrified them to their core.
Caius merely chuckled, tossing a casual wave of his hand. "Ease up, Old Bones."
At his master's word, Old Bones re-materialized silently at Caius's right shoulder, recalling the two Vel'xul Stalkers back into shadow.
Reaching into his Dimension Bead, Caius produced a heavy, weathered token etched with cosmic runic script and held it out. "An old man down in the abyss gave me this. Told me if I ever ran into anyone from the Veyuun Sect, I just had to show it and they'd assist me with whatever knowledge I needed."
Altan’s eyes widened slightly as he stepped forward. "May I?"
Caius handed it over without hesitation. The moment Altan’s bare fingers touched the ancient metal, a resonant pulse of energy rushed through his veins, mirroring the exact, primordial aura of the Kharan Chasm, the forgotten, qi-dead depths where he had first begun his martial path and forged the Stormguard.
A quiet breath escaped Altan’s lips. The frost evaporated from the air, and he handed the token back with profound respect. "Please... come with me."
Altan gestured toward the grand military pavilion, walking side-by-side with Caius toward the army hall.
Trailing close behind, Supreme Warden Chaghan marched with his jaw tightly set, his granite-like glare fixed suspiciously on Old Bones through his darksteel helm.
Old Bones glanced sideways, his raspy voice deadpan and dry. "You're fast, wearing that grim helm."
Chaghan’s eyes narrowed behind the visor slit. "You're fast, drawing your blades."
Neither man spoke again, falling into a tense, silent march as they followed their commanders into the hall.
