CAIUS: Crown of Threads and Shadows
CHAPTER 181: THE OBSIDIAN ARCHANGEL
At the fifth outer court node, mirrored directly from the newly filled spiral slot, a blinding collision of dark mana and silver-black moonlight tore through the air.
The essence bled upward from the stone, but it did not take the shape of a mortal elf or a jagged shadow knight. Instead, guided by Caius's divine intent and sovereign will, the purified Solarian origin shifted into a terrifying, dark mirror of the divine Solarian archangels that had just bled upon the battlefield above.
The entity materialized as a majestic, eight-foot Obsidian Archangel. Its towering frame was encased in sleek, seamless obsidian plate that absorbed all surrounding light, lined with glowing violet-crimson runes that hummed with intense spatial frequency. Beneath its spired helm lay only a dark void, anchored by a pair of cold, flickering violet eyes.
From its back flared two majestic pairs of sweeping wings. These were not made of soft feathers, nor pale solar fire, but were composed entirely of hundreds of razor-thin obsidian blades. Each blade-feather vibrated with lethal, high-frequency energy, ready to shred the surrounding air into spatial ribbons at a moment's notice.
In its right hand, the Obsidian Archangel gripped a massive, double-edged broadsword forged from compressed dark plasma and silver lunar light.
The entity lowered its four blade-wings, sweeping them around its body like a cloak of razor-sharp obsidian, before sinking onto one knee before the Stone Table. It pressed the pommel of its dark plasma broadsword against the basalt floor in total, unquestioning submission.
Caius stepped forward, his cold violet eyes reflecting the lethal sheen of the entity's razor-sharp wings. Yet, his chest did not ease with satisfaction. A faint, bitter sneer touched the corner of his lips.
Trust was a weakness that killed fools. He had seen ancient lords betrayed by their most loyal retainers, and he had seen bound spirits break their oaths when the right pressure was applied. Even here, within the sanctum of his own mind sea, the shadow of the rebellious Shadow Knight remained a constant reminder that residual pride could linger in the deepest corners of an extracted soul. High Lord Lorien had been an arrogant, deceitful creature in life. Caius would leave no room for his essence to harbor a single seed of defiance.

"An extracted core is still a foreign core," Caius murmured, his voice echoing coldly across the dark waters of the mind sea. "Your strength belongs to me, but your will must be mine alone."
Reaching into his own spiritual origin, Caius mobilized the Black River flowing through his pathways. Guided by absolute intent, he forced a drop of his own soul foundation to coalesce at the tip of his fingers. He sculpted the dark, concentrated essence into a micro-bead of jet-black crystallization, a Sovereign's Essence Bead, imbued purely with his own unyielding will and authority.
With a swift, ruthless motion, Caius stepped closer and drove his hand directly into the forehead of the kneeling Obsidian Archangel.
CRACK!
The entity trembled violently as Caius bypassed its outer obsidian armor, reaching straight into the Crown Core at the center of its spiral slot. His dark fingers wrapped around the existing crown core derived from Lorien's origin, ripped it out, and crushed it into raw, unshaped mana.
In its place, Caius inserted his own Sovereign Essence Bead directly into the primary spiritual node of the archangel.
VRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
A violent shockwave of pure violet energy detonated from the fifth node. The obsidian blade-wings flared outward in a sudden, razor-sharp canopy, vibrating with high-frequency spatial shrieks as Caius’s personal mark forcefully erased every remaining trace of Lorien’s original identity. The pale amber-gold glow within the archangel’s chest was completely snuffed out, replaced by a deep, terrifying violet fire that burned with absolute, unshakeable subjugation.
The Obsidian Archangel’s helm clicked downward until its forehead touched the cold basalt stone at Caius's feet.
The entity was no longer just a bound spirit built from high elven essence. It was an extension of Caius’s own mind, an unthinking, unyielding instrument forged strictly from his own will. It would never question, never hesitate, and never rebel.
Caius slowly withdrew his hand, watching the violet light hum in perfect harmony with the fifth spiral slot of the Stone Table. He looked down at the absolute submission of the Obsidian Archangel with cold, quiet approval.
In a world filled with deceit, the only loyalty that truly existed was the loyalty he forged himself.
