Chapter 262

Alex was the one that finally made the first move.

The moment his feet pushed against the ground, the distance between him and George disappeared in an instant. Raising his right fist, he aimed directly at George’s face, making sure to put more than enough strength behind that punch to shatter the bastard’s skull into a million pieces.

However, just before the punch could land, Alex twisted his shoulder and pulled his fist back halfway, deliberately changing the angle of his attack. After all It was a feint, nothing more than a trick to draw out George’s reaction. His real punch was already coming from the opposite direction, his left fist was driving straight toward George’s face.

It was a simple combination, but the timing was excellent. George saw through it but couldn’t dodge it in time, or perhaps he didn’t bother trying to. So instead of blocking the second punch or moving his head out of the way like how a normal person would have done in that exact same situation, he simply stood there and allowed Alex’s fist to slam into his face.

BOOOOM!! The impact sent a powerful gust of wind across the ruined street, scattering loose stones and sending dust swirling around them. George’s head turned slightly from the force, but the rest of his body remained perfectly still.

He didn’t grunt or even stagger which caught Alex off guard. He just kept looking at him with that light smile while saying in a tone that sounded a bit disappointed.

"Huh? Is that really it? Please if you’re still holding back, I’ll tell you now not to hold back or you’ll definitely regret it."

Alex stared at him for half a second.

What the actual fuck? What is this guy made of?

He had put considerable strength into that punch, and he had aimed directly at George’s temple. Even an Ascendant with a strong defensive ability would have felt the impact, yet George didn’t even flinch.

Was his defense really that ridiculous?

Before Alex could think any further, George moved. He shot his right fist toward Alex’s chest without any warning, forcing Alex to cross both arms in front of himself. The punch landed against his guard, and the resulting force from the impact pushed him several meters backward until he finally managed to regain his balance and launched himself forward again.

He wasn’t about to give George time to recover. Alex drove a punch toward his throat, followed by a knee aimed at his ribs. When George shifted sideways to avoid the first attack, Alex immediately changed the angle of his knee, attempting to catch him before he could complete his movement.

But George caught his leg in the nick of time. His annoying smile remained unchanged as he held Alex’s knee in place with one hand while remarking casually.

"Good thinking, but you should be more careful about leaving yourself wide open like that."

He then pulled, causing Alex’s body to lurched forward. But before George could capitalize on the opening, Alex twisted his waist and swung his free leg toward George’s head. George released him just in time, ducking beneath the kick as Alex landed on his feet.

The instant his soles touched the ground, Alex spun around and unleashed another punch which George barely managed to block it with his forearm.

The collision produced a sharp crack, and both men moved at almost the same time. George countered with a straight punch toward Alex’s face, which Alex avoided by tilting his head aside. He retaliated with an elbow aimed at George’s jaw, only for the other man to raise his shoulder and absorb the blow.

Alex followed up with a sweeping kick, but George jumped over it. Before his feet could touch the ground again, Alex was already waiting for him, with his fist cutting through the air toward his stomach.

This time, George crossed his arms and blocked the attack. The force drove him backward, causing his shoes to carve deep lines through the dirt, but he quickly steadied himself and looked at Alex with an expression of mild approval.

"Excellent. Now you’re learning very quickly. I must say your adaptability in the heat of battle is really remarkable."

"Would it kill you to just shut the hell up."

"Ah, there it is. I was beginning to wonder whether you knew how to speak."

Alex answered by punching him in the face which George avoided shifting his head to the side.

In a couple of seconds, their fists collided repeatedly, producing a series of thunderous impacts that echoed throughout the ruined neighborhood. dust rose and craters formed around their feet as they exchanged blows, with each movement faster than what the human’s eyes could follow.

Alex aimed for the throat, the forehead, the ribs, and every other vulnerable point he could reach. He wasn’t interested in testing his opponent or enjoying a good fight. He just wanted to kill George as quickly as possible because dragging it too long could be dangerous.

Unfortunately, George seemed determined to make that task a very difficult one.

Whenever Alex found an opening, George would close it or whenever Alex tried to overwhelm him with speed, George responded with movements that were just as fast if not faster. His defense was tight, his positioning excellent, and his ability to read an opponent’s movements was far beyond anything Alex had encountered before.

Worse still, this sick bastard seemed to be enjoying every second of it.

"You know," George said, blocking another punch before slipping away from a kick, "I expected someone like you to be a little more experienced. Your strength is impressive, but your technique leaves something else to be desired."

Alex’s eyes narrowed and he sneered before throwing another punch. George leaned aside, allowing the fist to pass close to his cheek and hit a building behind, which turned the entire building into a pile of broken debris.

"See? You telegraphed that one."

Alex immediately followed with a left hook, but George caught his wrist and redirected the attack before releasing him.

"Much better," George said. "At least you’re trying."

Alex wanted to punch that smile off his face. Unfortunately, doing so was proving considerably more difficult than expected.

They clashed again, and this time Alex changed his approach. Instead of relying on straightforward punches and kicks, he began chaining his attacks together, using feints to conceal his intentions and changing his rhythm whenever George appeared to anticipate his next move.

For a while, it actually worked. One punch slipped past George’s guard and struck his ribs which earned a smile from Alex. Then another caught him on the shoulder, forcing him to take several steps backward. Alex followed with a vicious uppercut aimed at his chin...
