Building The Perfect Harem With My Heavenly Desire System
Chapter 209: What Are You Doing?!
Chapter 209
Celine’s eyes went wide open and her heart was full of shock.
He dodged it? He really dodged it.
For a second or so, she couldn’t believe what she had just witnessed. She had waited until just the perfect moment, concealed her attack until the last possible second, and aimed directly for his throat. Yet even with all those advantages, the man had somehow reacted quickly enough to escape the fatal blow.
But Celine recovered almost immediately thanks to all her time and experience as a seasoned Assassin. There was no time to be surprised, just act.
Since the man was still airborne, with his body having been forced backward by her attack, and his feet not touching the ground yet, that gave her exactly the opportunity she needed to launch another even more unavoidable attack and kill him as swiftly as possible.
Her primordial essence surged violently through her body and four obsidian-colored Deathfrost Blooms materialized around the airborne man almost simultaneously, with each one positioned at a different angle around his body.
One appeared above him. One at his lower legs, one to his left side, and another one to his right side.
The man’s expression changed the moment he noticed the four deadly ice shards surrounding him.
"What the—!"
Celine’s eyes narrowed as she carefully locked onto his position. She could already predict where he would land and instantaneously clenched her fist inward, making the four Deathfrost Blooms to immediately shoot toward the center from all different directions, trapping the man between them, with no way of escape.
The man’s eyes widened as he desperately tried twisting his body in midair and managed to shift his head sideways just in time to avoid one of the incoming shards. And surprisingly dodged another one
But unfortunately for him, he couldn’t avoid the rest. Two of the obsidian-colored shards struck him.The first slammed directly into his chest, just above his heart, causing a sharp burst of blood to erupt from the wound as the Deathfrost Bloom pierced deeply into his body, leaving behind a bloodied, gruesome hole.
The second shard struck lower. It pierced clean through his stomach, and came out through the back, tearing a hole through his lower spine.
Celine coldly watched as the man’s entire body convulsed because of the Deathfrost Bloom tearing a way through his spinal cord, destroying the nerves responsible for controlling the lower half of his body.
He crashed onto the floor with a heavy thud. And for several more seconds, he simply lay there, with bright red blood slowly spreading beneath him paired with a face twisted in pure venom from the earlier lecherous look. But he was powerless to do anything. It would take at least a day for him to recover from something like this.
"You dumb bitch! I’ll freaking kill you for...!"
A single petal-shaped shard of obsidian ice suddenly flashed through the air, piercing directly through his forehead and exited through the back of his skull. Silencing him once and for all.
Silence filled the room as Celine stared at the dead corpse for several seconds before slowly lowering her hand. It was at that moment the door behind her suddenly pushed open, and Alex walked inside.
He glanced at the dead Ascendant before looking toward Celine and said .
"Oh, it seems you really handled it yourself, and you did it pretty quickly."
Celine looked at him and nodded.
"Yes." She glanced toward the corpse. "I was lucky he was still in the air. If not, if he had already landed, it would’ve been much easier for him to dodge my second attack and launch an attack of his own."
Celine then turned to look around the room and said calmly.
"All we need to do now is hide the body because of how conspicuous it looks in the room. I suggest we..."
Before she could continue her words, a brilliant flash of dark blue lightning suddenly shot forward from Alex’s palm almost instantaneously, causing the entire room and some parts of the corridor to be illuminated by the intense blinding light.
Alex hadn’t used his Celestial lightning ability much and it seemed like the perfect way to incinerate the body, since Crimson Supernova would just end up making a deafening destruction.
So with a sizzZ... He increased the power of the Celestial lightning that struck the corpse, and in the next second, the man’s body was engulfed by a blazing darker blue lightning that burnt away at his clothes and also burnt his flesh slowly.
Within a couple of minutes, the once intact corpse had now been reduced to nothing more than blackened remains. Another wave of Celestial lightning passed through the body, and the charred remains crumbled into ashes that scattered across the floor.
Only a small, faintly glowing object that looked like a sphere remained. It was the guy’s primordial core.
Celine stared at the ashes before looking at Alex.
"...Or we could just do that, I guess."
Alex shrugged.
"It seemed much more convenient than anything at the moment."
Celine rolled her eyes but didn’t argue. She crouched down and picked up the small primordial core.
"Let’s not forget this."
Alex looked at her with curiosity, he knew monster cores were useful but only the bureau and other powerful people knew about them. Besides he figured the bureau only carried monster cores, so why was Celine interested in this thing? Especially when it was a human Awakened’s own and she knew nothing about monsters.
"Why are you picking it up?"
Celine raised an eyebrow.
"Are you serious? Primordial cores are extremely valuable. Especially on the black market."
"How valuable are we talking about?"
"Oh, anything from ten million dollars and above, depending on the realm of the core."
Alex’s eyebrows rose.
"Ten million?!"
Celine nodded.
"An Early Realm primordial core can usually sell for around ten to fifteen million dollars. A Vanguard Realm core can reach around fifty million or so. I don’t remember the exact figures because prices fluctuate, but powerful families and people in the black market are willing to pay ridiculous amounts for them."
Alex suddenly froze.
"Crap."
Celine looked at him strangely.
"Why did you just say crap?"
Alex’s expression became complicated. He suddenly remembered something, the guy with regenerative ability who was known as the Undying Fiend.
The crazy dude from Seoul he had fought previously when he and his accomplice tried to kidnap Nyx. He remembered that the man had been an Early Realm Awakened, and during their battle, After defeating him and giving him hope, Alex ruthlessly destroyed his primordial core completely.
At the time, Alex hadn’t thought much about it. Now, however, he realized what he had done. That was ten to fifteen million dollars.
He had literally destroyed ten to fifteen million dollars with his own hands. What a monumental waste!
"I was just surprised at how expensive they are."
Celine narrowed her eyes suspiciously but decided not to press him.
"Whatever. Let’s go."
Alex nodded. They left the room and began making their way toward the main meeting hall. The main event of tonight was waiting for them.
After walking through several corridors, they finally arrived before a massive reinforced door. The entrance was enormous, almost the size of three grown men stacked on top of one another, and thick metal plates covered its surface, like that of a dungeon door except this was made entirely out of reinforced metal.
With his incredible hearing, Alex could already hear voices coming from inside. And one voice in particular was unmistakable. It was that damned man Marcus.
"...which is why I don’t want any mistakes."
The man’s voice carried clearly through the reinforced doors.
"The shipment contains about several hundred million dollars’ worth of cocaine. The entire amount has to reach the docks within the next two days."
Several men murmured in response.
Marcus continued.
"I don’t care what problems arise along the way. I don’t care how many police checkpoints appear or how difficult the route becomes. Those packages must arrive safely." His voice became colder. "If even a single package goes missing, I’ll personally hold the people responsible and make that person and his entire family sleep forever."
Alex’s expression remained calm. So that was what they were discussing. Hmm... Five hundred million dollars worth of cocaine.
Beside him, Celine’s expression became increasingly cold. Every word coming from the room only reminded her of the kind of monster she had spent years working under.
Marcus continued speaking.
"Just so you know, Skull face should have already paid everyone along the route, so the drivers know what they’re carrying, and the men guarding the shipment have been instructed not to open the packages under any circumstances."
He paused.
"Nothing must happen to those packages. Is that understood?"
"Yes, boss."
"Good."
At the exact moment those words came out, a loud sound resounded as the gigantic door flew violently off its hinges, and crashed into the opposite wall with an earth-shaking explosion, sending dust and debris flying throughout the meeting hall.
Several men immediately jumped to their feet. All drawing their weapons, as confused shouts erupted from every corner of the room.
Marcus himself coughed as dust filled the room.
"Cough... What the hell?!"
He raised one hand and waved away the dust before squinting toward the destroyed entrance. Then his eyes widened slightly.
Standing within the doorway was Celine. And from afar her face looked completely devoid of emotion. She was always like this, but today it felt much more different.
"Black Rose. What are you doing?!"
