Chapter 213: Chapter 144: SSR-Level Talent, Master-Level Cooking Mastery
"Let those children work the fields."
Monday straightened up and said solemnly, "Yes, Lord!"
He turned around. "Everyone, please follow me."
Led by Monday, the group of newcomers headed toward the territory’s Outer City District.
Shen Xing had Reina push him to a vacant lot south of the Outer City District.
Then, next to the collective dormitory for the Slave Laborers, he had ten more residences built.
After all, he had promised to provide them with a place to live.
Next, he went to the west side of the Outer City District and chose an empty plot of land to build walls.
He joined these walls together, creating a square area of 20 by 20 meters.
The ground was also paved with stone bricks.
This was the place for raising the Finger Insects. It was completely enclosed on all four sides, with only a few openings left at the top.
This way, workers would only need to climb onto the walls to feed the Finger Insects.
After finishing all this, Shen Xing had Monday send a few female slaves over.
They held shovels and hoes in their hands, their heads lowered, not daring to look at the young Lord.
"Dig some pits in this area," Shen Xing said, pointing to the empty ground ahead.
"Yes."
The female slaves responded and got busy.
Shovels swung and dirt flew as one standard-sized pit after another appeared.
Shen Xing went over and planted the 33 Tree-man Warrior Seeds, 6 Ancient Tree Seeds, and 1 War Ancient Tree Seed he had obtained today.
He then had the female slaves bring over some red soil to cover them.
Next, he poured some Moon Well Water on top.
As a green glow flashed from the gaps in the soil and then vanished, the seeds were all successfully planted.
Now, he just had to wait two or three days for the first batch of Tree-man Warriors to break through the soil and become part of the territory’s fighting force.
After finishing these tasks, Shen Xing had Reina push him into the Food Processing Plant.
"Nimue, are you here?"
He called out as soon as he entered.
"H-Human Lord, I’m here..."
A flustered response came from a corner, along with the clatter of pots and pans.
Immediately after, a young maiden with the upper body of a human and a lower body tucked into a clam shell slowly emerged from the corner.
She wore a white apron covered in dark green slime, and her face was splattered with specks of red liquid, making her look like she had just come from an autopsy.
"What are you messing with now?" Shen Xing asked.
"Nothing... Nimue isn’t doing anything..." the Clam Maiden said with an innocent smile, her watery eyes filled with guiltlessness.
Shen Xing gave her a suspicious look but didn’t press the matter, instead pulling something directly from his inventory.
With a meaty THUD, a giant severed finger smashed onto the floor of the processing plant.
"Huh... Is this a finger from a Finger Insect?" Nimue recognized it at a glance.
"Yes. Can you process it into food?" Shen Xing asked.
"Let me think..." The Clam Maiden touched her lips, pondering for a moment.
Then she looked up and said, "Every part of this monster is valuable."
"If you slice the meat thinly and make it into dried meat strips, it can be preserved for a long time."
"The bones in the knuckles shouldn’t be wasted either. They can be boiled into a rich broth."
"After boiling, the bones can be taken out, ground into powder, and sprinkled on the fields to increase crop growth efficiency."
Shen Xing listened silently, thinking, ’This Finger Insect really is a treasure from head to toe.’
"Oh, right!"
The Clam Maiden suddenly remembered something. "I don’t know what happened recently, but a lot of new cooking-related knowledge has suddenly appeared in my mind."
"My cooking proficiency suddenly broke through to the Master Level, and I even unlocked new recipes."
"Among them is a food recipe for Finger Insects called ’Moonfire Fried Meat,’ but the production process is rather complicated."
"Oh? What’s the process exactly?" Shen Xing asked.
Nimue thought for a moment and continued, "First, you need to cut these severed fingers into equal-sized chunks of meat, then coat the surface with a layer of moonlight flour, and then fry them in a wok of oil."
"Next, you smoke it with Hellfire. When the surface turns a yellowish-green color, it’s considered complete."
Shen Xing pondered. ’It does sound quite troublesome, with a lot of steps.’
"Does such a complicated food recipe have any special effects?" he asked.
"It does," Nimue nodded. "Moonfire Fried Meat restores more satiety, and it also boosts Fire Attribute Resistance and increases Power for a certain period of time."
Shen Xing’s heart stirred. ’It can increase Power? That seems pretty good.’
"In that case, make most of the Finger Insect meat into dried strips."
"The rest can be made into Moonfire Fried Meat."
"I’ll send a few citizens with cooking experience over to help in a bit."
"Okay!" A happy smile appeared on Nimue’s face. "Perfect. I was getting a bit overwhelmed on my own."
Shen Xing nodded, then took out all the severed fingers and piled them in a corner of the processing plant.
Then, he went back outside and picked out those among the newly recruited refugees who had Intermediate Cooking Proficiency, sending them inside to help.
After all that was done, Shen Xing glanced at his phone. It was already past three in the afternoon.
Calculating the time, Qin Lang and Xu Jiayi should be arriving soon.
"Reina, you can go back. I need to leave for a while," Shen Xing said to the woman who never left his side.
The Red-haired Mage’s eyes trembled slightly before she gave a small nod. "Yes, Lord."
Shen Xing closed his eyes, and his consciousness withdrew from the Land of Mist.
BZZZ...
His vision changed in an instant. A white ceiling and a bright crystal chandelier came into view.
The air was filled with the damp scent of river water.
Meow~
A soft meow sounded by his ear.
Turning his head, he saw a small, cream-colored cat crouching by the coffee table, looking at him with curiosity.
