Chapter 188: Chapter 136: First on Both Lists, Upgraded Rewards
’Seriously, what in the world happened in there?’
’I was only out for two minutes. How does it feel like two hours have passed in there?’
HUM... HUM...
At the same time, several flashes of white light interrupted his thoughts once again.
As the light faded, four of his top champions appeared: Blood Roar, Hei, Black Arrow, and Reina.
The first three looked around blankly, staring wide-eyed at Hellish Roar and the others as if they had seen a ghost.
As for the last one, Reina, she was lying on the ground, pale-faced and seemingly unconscious.
Shen Xing looked down and saw that she looked like a completely different person.
The cloak she usually wore was gone, replaced by a fiery-red Mage’s Robe embroidered with lifelike flame patterns. A deep-red Magic Staff was clutched in her hand.
"Hey? Boss! You’re still alive!"
Seeing Shen Xing in the wheelchair, Blood Roar rushed forward. "Thank goodness! I thought I’d never see you again!"
Black Arrow and Hei were just as excited, gathering around their Lord.
Just moments ago, they had all thought Shen Xing was dead. Overcome with grief and fury, they had wanted nothing more than to tear Lachlan limb from limb.
Now, seeing their Lord appear before them again, a great weight was finally lifted from their hearts.
"Yeah, I’m not dead."
Shen Xing explained briefly, then looked at Reina on the ground and asked, "Tell me, what happened in there?"
"And what about Reina? How did she end up like this?"
The trio shook off their excitement, and after choosing their words carefully, recounted what had happened.
As Shen Xing listened, a look of understanding dawned in his eyes.
’So that’s what happened... Reina suddenly unleashed her power and wiped out all the Lords inside, along with the Rain God Avatar, in one fell swoop.’
He murmured to himself, "I never expected she had such powerful Flame Power hidden within her."
"Yeah, Boss, we were all terrified." There was a hint of lingering fear in Blood Roar’s voice. "The flames Miss Reina unleashed were horrifying. Their power was on par with my War Fire, and the range was immense."
"The only problem is, it doesn’t distinguish between friend and foe. She ended up burning us to death right along with them."
Hei chimed in from the side, "Those flames contain a special power. They burned right through my Power of Death, reducing me to ash in moments."
’It doesn’t distinguish between friend and foe...’
Shen Xing fell silent for a moment, then realized something. ’So, is that why you were never willing to use your Flame Power?’
He gazed at the woman on the ground, a complicated expression in his eyes.
Then, he reached out his right hand and made a grasping motion.
A large, transparent hand appeared, lifting Reina from the ground and gently placing her in his lap.
"Alright, all of you go get some rest. You’ve all worked hard today."
Shen Xing dismissed the group, then turned to the Bald Beastman at his side. "Hellish Roar, push me to the Outer City District."
"Yes, Lord!"
The men dispersed, their taut nerves finally loosening. Their departing figures looked more relaxed than ever before.
Hellish Roar, meanwhile, stood behind Shen Xing and began pushing his wheelchair along the Bluestone Street toward the Outer City District.
Soon, they arrived at a quiet little wooden cabin in an open area to the south.
He pushed open the door, revealing simple furnishings inside.
A small wooden bed, a thin blanket, and a wooden wardrobe.
Shen Xing summoned the Void Hand once more, gently lifting Reina and placing her on the bed.
"Hellish Roar, go get Nimue."
"Yes, Lord!"
The Bald Beastman turned and hurried away.
A short while later, the Clam Maiden glided to the door of the cabin.
"Human... Sir, you called for me?" She poked her head through the doorway, peering inside curiously.
Shen Xing turned and instructed, "Help me take care of Reina. She passed out from overexerting her power."
It couldn’t be helped. Men vastly outnumbered women in his territory right now.
Other than Nimue and Reina, there were no other women to be found.
Oh, wait. That wasn’t right.
There were a few female slaves among the group of Slave Laborers, but they weren’t the kind one might imagine.
Instead, they were a group of dark-skinned, burly, stout matrons.
They were fine for farming, but asking them to care for someone would be a tall order.
"Ah... Reina passed out?"
Worry flashed in Nimue’s big, watery Blue eyes. She glided over to the bedside and said softly, "Nimue is the best at taking care of people! I’ll make lots of delicious food for her, and she’ll wake up in no time."
Shen Xing glanced at her and added, "Don’t just feed her anything. Just give her some Moon Well Water or Moonlight Bread. That will be enough."
Nimue’s expression faltered. "Oh... alright..." she said, looking a little disappointed.
’It’s a shame I can’t make delicious food for Reina, but I have to listen to the human sir,’ the Clam Maiden thought to herself. ’Otherwise, he’ll kick me out, and then I won’t be able to take my nice baths.’
Once Reina was settled, Shen Xing turned his wheelchair and left the room.
He gazed up at the sky as the rain began to subside, a torrent of thoughts flooding his mind.
He’d never expected to take first place, much less so inexplicably. Nor had he ever imagined that the Heroic Mage under his command possessed such terrifying power.
Even though he hadn’t witnessed it himself, he could tell from the fragmented accounts of Blood Roar and the others that the scene must have been absolutely staggering.
This woman held far more secrets than he had imagined.
He just wondered if she would be willing to tell him.
’Forget it. I’ll worry about that later. First, I’ll check my rewards,’ Shen Xing thought, shaking his head to cast the thoughts aside.
The system had just notified him that his ’Rain God’s Blessing’ had been upgraded from its original Epic Level to the Legendary Level!
