Building a Perfect Territory in the Mist
Chapter 181 - 132: The Key to Slaying the Rain God Avatar
Chapter 181: Chapter 132: The Key to Slaying the Rain God Avatar
Lords from all over the world stared at the livestream, speculating about who would claim the first kill on a Rain God Avatar.
But after five whole minutes had passed, the crowd’s expressions had shifted from anticipation to confusion, and then from confusion to utter shock.
After all this time, the one hundred strongest Novice Lords in the world hadn’t managed to take down even a single avatar!
Everyone was stunned.
「Inside the Rain God Illusion Realm.」
With a wave of his right hand, Shen Xing materialized a massive Hellfire Ball and sent it hurtling down.
BOOM!!
The deafening explosion reverberated as eerie green waves of fire surged across the platform.
The terrifying heat of the Hellfire crashed against the Rain God Avatar, kicking up clouds of white steam.
TSSSSS... TSSSSS...
When the flames died down, half of the Rain God Avatar’s body had been vaporized, leaving only its two feet standing in place.
Just then, the surrounding lake water churned and began to surge, converging on the platform.
In the blink of an eye, the fragmented Rain God Avatar was fully restored, its aura returning to its peak.
’So *that’s* what the Rain God Body Talent does?’
’Damn it. It can regenerate infinitely as long as there’s water? How cheap can you get?’
Shen Xing was speechless.
They had been fighting this Rain God Avatar for five minutes. In that time, they had focused their fire and completely obliterated it at least seven or eight times, even scattering its body into nothing.
But each time, just like moments ago, it would instantly reform, as good as new. It was practically immortal.
The other Lords were facing the same situation.
It was no longer a question of having enough damage output, but of how to kill the Rain God Avatar for good.
Even the formidable Lachlan had blasted the Rain God Avatar to pieces more than ten times, but he was helpless against its infinite regeneration.
This led to the awkward situation where, after five minutes, the Rain God Avatar’s total health bar was still at 100%.
Outside, the various forums had exploded, and comments were flying everywhere.
"This is insane! The Rain God Avatar is way too broken. It’s just unkillable."
"At this rate, I bet its health will still be at 100% an hour from now."
"That’s a definite possibility..."
Lords from every nation frowned, their eyes glued to the livestream.
Another minute passed in a tense stalemate.
Suddenly, someone cried out in surprise.
"Look! Dolores got a kill!"
At these words, everyone turned their gazes to a platform in the corner, one shrouded in blood-red water.
The Rain God Avatar there had dissolved into a puddle on the ground, showing no signs of reforming.
Her Soldier Types also solidified from their bat forms, turning back into ten handsome men and beautiful women.
"Holy crap, she actually killed it! How did she do that?"
"No idea. I just saw a swarm of bats surrounding the water on the platform and licking it all up like crazy, and then the Rain God Avatar died."
"Holy shit, does that mean the other Lords will have to lick the floor to kill their avatars?"
Although no one understood how, Dolores had indeed claimed the first kill.
And on the leaderboard to the side, a change appeared.
[First Place: Dolores Jones, Total Damage: 0.1%]
[Second Place: Shen Xing, Total Damage: 0%]
[Third Place...]
...
By killing one Rain God Avatar, Dolores had contributed 0.1% of the total damage.
By that calculation, each of the one hundred Lords would need to take down ten Rain God Avatars for the challenge to be considered a success.
But clearly, that was next to impossible.
Six minutes had already passed, and they hadn’t even killed one avatar, let alone ten.
The other Lords grew anxious and began unleashing their attacks even more frantically, nearly blasting the platforms beneath their feet to pieces.
Shen Xing, however, wasn’t worried. He continued to command Ember, his mount, to circle in mid-air.
He was observing the subtle changes in the Rain God Avatar each time it recovered, carefully analyzing the situation.
When Dolores had gotten the kill just now, they had been too far away to see clearly how she had done it.
But from watching the Rain God Avatar get scattered and reform time and time again, he had a faint inkling of what was going on.
It seemed something was the key to its infinite Rebirth.
But as for what that something was, or where it was, he had no clues.
"Inside its body," a cool, clear voice suddenly said beside his ear.
Shen Xing turned his head and saw that it was Reina who had spoken.
"Inside its body?"
"Yes."
The Red-haired Mage nodded lightly. "The first few times we scattered the avatar, I saw a transparent water droplet. That should be its core."
"But the droplet is very cunning and well-hidden. The instant it’s exposed, it merges back into the water, making it very difficult to find."
Hearing this, Shen Xing finally understood what he had been looking for.
Clearly, the water droplet Reina mentioned was the Rain God Avatar’s core.
Only by destroying it could they achieve a true kill.
Dolores had likely succeeded by sheer luck, using a saturation attack that covered the entire platform and inadvertently destroyed the target.
"Hellish Roar, use Blade Tornado Storm."
"Everyone else, follow my lead."
Shen Xing made his decision in an instant.
At the Lord’s command, Hellish Roar hefted his Black Water Axe and charged toward the newly reformed Rain God Avatar.
WHOOSH— WHOOSH—!
He began to spin at high speed, his giant bat-like wings kicking up blasts of fire, forming a Flaming Tornado that covered more than half the platform.
The Rain God Avatar faced this wide-area attack with perfect composure.
With a light spin of its umbrella, the transparent white canopy acted like a spiraling shield, blocking all the incoming flames.
"Blood Roar, Hei, attack its main body from the flanks," Shen Xing ordered again.
Hearing the command, the two Knights quickly changed their positions, closing in on the Rain God Avatar from the left and right.
Hei, wielding his Demon Shadow Sword, swung so fast his blade left afterimages, directly cutting more than a dozen cracks into the Rain God Avatar’s Umbrella Shield.
Blood Roar was even more spectacular.
The dark-red patterns on his body lit up, and the Flame Greatsword in his hand grew with the wind, transforming in the blink of an eye into a massive greatsword three to four meters long, as wide as a door!
"War Fire, burn everything to ash!"
Blood Roar raised his Greatsword high as dark-red flames erupted from it, forming a fiery serpent over ten meters long that lunged toward the target.
FWOOSH!
The dark-red fiery serpent coiled completely around the Rain God Avatar. A series of sizzling, Scorching sounds arose as the avatar’s body rapidly evaporated and shrank.
Shen Xing was satisfied. ’The current Blood Roar is insanely powerful.’
With a hidden class and an Epic Weapon, combined with the natural opposition of fire and water, he alone was enough to take down this Rain God Avatar.
As the fiery serpent continued to burn it, the Rain God Avatar finally couldn’t take it anymore and burst apart with a POP.
A spray of water droplets filled the air, each one nearly transparent, making it impossible to tell which was which.
Shen Xing’s eyes were locked on the droplets, as if time had slowed down, trying with all his might to track the movement of every single one.
Just then, one of the droplets suddenly twitched. Like a vortex, it rapidly absorbed the surrounding droplets, forming a larger puddle of water.
It splashed onto the platform with a SPLAT, merging with the other pools of water. Without looking closely, it was impossible to spot.
Not only that, but the puddle began to flow silently across the ground, sliding rapidly toward the edge of the platform.
"Black Arrow, the ground!"
The words had barely left his mouth when an Ice Arrow, which had been charged and waiting, shot out.
CRACK!
A bitter cold instantly erupted, freezing the entire platform, along with more than ten meters of the lake’s surface around it.
It was the Ice Burst Arrow!
"Now!"
"Hellish Roar, blow it to hell!"
At Shen Xing’s command, Hellish Roar, who was still spinning, suddenly flung his War Axe!
The Flaming Tornado Hurricane, which had been charging for several seconds, swept out with enough force to obliterate everything in its path.
And then, it exploded.
BOOM!!!
A pillar of fire shot into the sky, completely engulfing the platform.
When the smoke and dust cleared, clouds of mist rose from the platform. The water on the ground had vanished, seemingly evaporated completely by the blast.
’Did it work?’
Shen Xing felt a surge of joy and looked up at the leaderboard.
The total damage next to his name still read 0%!
His brow furrowed once more. This was getting tricky; the Rain God Avatar was ridiculously hard to kill.
Even a saturation attack of that intensity hadn’t been enough to finish it off.
Just then, a Longsword struck from the side, stabbing toward Hei with lightning speed.
Hei instinctively raised his own sword to block, only to realize the incoming Longsword wasn’t aimed at him, but at his shoulder.
With a soft POP!, it was as if something had burst right next to his ear.
A glob of transparent liquid was pierced by the tip of the sword, exploding into a fine mist.
And on the leaderboard, Shen Xing’s total damage finally jumped to 0.1%!
Everyone turned to see a graceful, red-haired figure standing beside Hei, slowly sheathing her sword.
It was Reina.
She had spotted the water droplet hidden on Hei’s shoulder and struck it true.
"Reina, nice work."
Shen Xing praised her, thinking, ’As expected of a Hero-class unit.’
Not only did she have a terrifying mastery of Fire Magic, but her Swordsmanship Talent was impressive as well.
Of course, her most important asset was her outstanding perception.
She had not only keenly identified the water droplet as the Rain God Avatar’s weak point, but had also managed to locate it amidst such chaos.
Reina nodded slightly, her expression as calm and unruffled as ever.
Just then, Dahou, standing to the side, raised his Dual Axes and exclaimed, "Hey! The platform’s cracking! We have to get out of here, fast!"
Shen Xing quickly looked down and saw that the stone platform beneath their feet was indeed covered in cracks and on the verge of collapsing.
It wasn’t just their platform; the previous platform where Dolores had fought, who had now killed two Rain God Avatars, had already crumbled.
’So that’s the mechanic.’
Shen Xing analyzed thoughtfully, "For every Rain God Avatar killed, a platform is destroyed. The further we get, the less room we’ll have to stand."
"Let’s go. To the platform up ahead on the left."
He quickly commanded Ember to lower its altitude and used his Void Hand to pull Reina up onto its back.
Immediately after, Dahou and Black Arrow also leaped onto Ember’s back.
As for the Great Demon and Hellish Roar, they both had wings and possessed a short-distance Flying Ability, so they didn’t need a ride from Shen Xing.
Hei and Blood Roar were both cavalry units; a single leap could cover dozens of meters, and they could even bound across the water’s surface several times without sinking.
The other Tier Two Extraordinary Beings could also walk on water; it was merely a question of how far they could go.
The whole team, some flying and some dashing, sped across several hundred meters and quickly arrived at the second platform.
In the center of this platform, a rotating ball of water droplets was suspended in the air.
The moment they stepped onto the platform, it instantly transformed into a humanoid creature made entirely of flowing water, wielding a greatsword of the same substance.
