Chapter 161: Chapter 119: Far Ahead, Teleportation Gate Evolution
Black Arrow had changed his class to a hidden one: Ice Bone Executioner, and his attacks had been converted to the Ice Attribute.
And ice happened to have a damage bonus against those Flame Attribute Hell Creatures.
"Yes... my Lord..."
Black Arrow slowly stood up and followed behind him with heavy steps.
Shen Xing pushed his wheelchair, leading the way out of the Volcanic Hot Spring and into the clearing outside.
Then, he took out a special megaphone and shouted, "All units, assemble!"
In an instant, the entire territory sprang into action once again.
In less than five minutes, all four hundred-plus combat units had finished assembling.
The two Beastman Generals, Hellish Roar and Dahou, stood at the very front of the formation, leading 120 Beastmen.
The towering Black Arrow, clad in Ice Blue Armor, led 110 Skeleton Archers in the rear.
Blood Roar and Hei each led 60 Wolf Cavalry and 14 Black Moon Knights, respectively, guarding the flanks of the formation.
Reina, meanwhile, continued to lead the Inferior Demons in defending the base.
Once all arrangements were complete, Shen Xing gave a grand wave of his hand. "Move out!"
The Horse Lantern was lit, its orange-yellow glow piercing the dense fog.
The force of nearly three hundred immediately set out, marching mightily into the pouring rain.
「Half an hour later.」
They arrived at the familiar underground Lava Cave.
Over the course of the night, the Hell Teleportation Gate had spit out a considerable number of new monsters.
But Shen Xing’s forces had also received a huge upgrade.
"For the glory of the Lord, kill!"
The Beastman Legion, wielding their Iron Axes, charged toward the Hell Legion with overwhelming momentum.
The two sides clashed in an instant.
In the very first exchange, they cut down large numbers of Hellish Imps and Hellhounds.
In the rear, over a hundred Skeleton Archers drew their bows in unison, loosing a volley of black and frost-blue arrows that rained down upon the monster horde.
In an instant, the Hell Creatures fell in droves.
On the leaderboard, Shen Xing’s points also began to increase at an astonishing rate.
...
...
「At this moment, on an artificial island overseas.」
Violent waves churned in the surrounding sea, and a torrential downpour lashed the surface as if the sky itself had ruptured.
The once-sunny and pleasant weather was gone, and the entire island felt like a lone outpost in the heart of the storm.
Even the handsome men and beautiful women who had been sunbathing earlier were forced to retreat into the main hall for shelter.
"Pride, that Shen Xing’s points are rising again," the tanned woman said, her expression worried. "He’s already surpassed Dolores, and the gap between you and him is closing fast."
The blue-haired man, Lachlan, shot her a cold glance. "I have eyes. I don’t need you to point it out."
The tanned woman’s expression stiffened, and she didn’t know how to respond.
"Rest assured, it’s impossible for him to take first place."
A cold smirk touched Lachlan’s lips. "Perhaps in a little while, you’ll see Shen Xing’s name disappear from the leaderboard forever."
The tanned woman’s pupils constricted as she seemed to realize something. "Don’t tell me... you had a Master Level expert from your family make a move?"
"After that incident twenty years ago, all nations signed a joint treaty stating that Master Level experts are forbidden from attacking other Lords."
"Aren’t you afraid of violating the international treaty and provoking retaliation from the Celestial Star Country?"
"Heh... What’s there to fear?" Lachlan said with disdain. "This Master Level is a Soldier Type our family has been secretly cultivating. It has never appeared in public before."
"When the time comes, as long as we refuse to admit it, what can those fools from the Celestial Star Country possibly do?"
He leaned back leisurely on the sofa, steepling his fingers before his chest, appearing perfectly composed.
The woman was silent for a moment but ultimately said nothing to dissuade him.
A few minutes later, something in his pocket vibrated lightly.
Lachlan took out a black phone and put it to his ear to answer.
"Lachlan, the operation is canceled," an aged voice announced.
Hearing this voice, the calm composure on his face vanished, replaced by confusion.
"Canceled? Why!?" he demanded, struggling to suppress his rage.
"Because the Celestial Star Country sent us a photograph," the voice on the other end replied calmly.
"A photograph?" Lachlan asked, bewildered. "What kind of photograph could scare you all so badly?"
"See for yourself."
The person on the other end hung up and then sent a photograph.
When Lachlan opened the message and saw its contents, his pupils contracted instantly.
The photo was taken from a high-altitude, bird’s-eye view, showing a vast expanse of ocean amidst a torrential thunderstorm.
In the middle of it, a lone island was clearly visible—the very artificial island where they were located.
Furthermore, the timestamp showed it was taken five minutes ago.
The photographer had also extended a middle finger, making a provocative gesture at the camera.
Lachlan was rendered speechless, and cold sweat beaded on his forehead.
...
...
「Meanwhile.」
The higher-ups of every major power had, one after another, received a photograph.
The angle was similar for all of them: a high-altitude, bird’s-eye view with a hand extended into the frame, giving the middle finger to the camera.
But the backgrounds were all different.
They included an ancient castle hidden within a forest, a military base concealed in the desert, and even a secret underwater facility.
And each photo came with a message: "You aren’t the only ones who can use these kinds of tactics. If you want to play, we’ll see this through to the end."
At that moment, every major power fell into a stunned silence.
...
...
「Time slowly ticked by.」
All over the world, countless pairs of eyes were fixed on the leaderboard, especially on the top three names.
Everyone could sense that the rate at which these top contenders were gaining points had clearly accelerated.
Previously, Lachlan and Dolores had been gaining about one hundred points per hour. Now, they were starting at a minimum of two hundred per hour.
