Chapter 128: Chapter 98: Bountiful Harvest, Seed of the Golden Ancient Tree
"Reina, get on." Shen Xing sat on the Horned Eagle’s back, patting the space behind him.
The Red-haired Mage faltered, her eyes filled with confusion and astonishment.
"There’s no one influential enough to guard the territory at the moment. We need to get back as soon as possible," Shen Xing explained.
Reina heard him and glanced at the Horned Eagle’s broad back, then back at the man.
After a moment’s hesitation, she leaped nimbly and landed behind him.
"Fried Chicken, take off."
At Shen Xing’s command, the Horned Eagle beat its wings and shot into the sky.
The creature shot straight up at high speed, nearly throwing Reina off its back.
In her panic, she instinctively wrapped her arms around Shen Xing’s waist, her body pressed tightly against his back.
Once Fried Chicken leveled out into a stable flight, Shen Xing glanced back and saw the woman’s cheeks were flushed crimson.
"S-Sorry..." Reina hastily released her grip, whispering, "I didn’t mean to offend you..."
Shen Xing glanced at her and said casually, "It’s nothing. Just hold on tight so you don’t fall."
Reina looked slightly taken aback, then gave a small nod.
She scooted back a little, gripping Fried Chicken’s Feathers tightly with both hands.
It was hard to tell if Fried Chicken was doing it on purpose or not, but the flight was anything but smooth.
With several sudden stops, sharp turns, and steep dives, Reina kept losing her balance and bumping hard against Shen Xing’s back.
Each time they made contact, the Red-haired Mage’s face grew redder, and her body temperature soared.
Shen Xing could feel the surprising heat radiating from behind him, along with the soft impact of each collision.
’He honestly had no such intentions, though.’
’He’d only let Reina ride with him to get back to the territory faster.’
’Was he, Grand Lord Shen, the type to abuse his power to get close to the women in his domain?’
’Obviously not.’
’Then again, this woman’s body is so warm. She’d be like a personal hot water bottle in the winter.’
After a "bumpy" journey of over ten minutes, they finally reached the vicinity of the territory.
Looking from a distance, they could see an orange glow that pushed back the dense fog, creating a world of its own.
It was encircled by a white stone wall, with numerous buildings inside and many Soldier Types on guard.
As the Horned Eagle flew into the radius of the light, waves of warmth washed over them, dispelling the chill of the rain.
Fried Chicken landed smoothly in the center of the territory, then turned its head to give Shen Xing a meaningful look.
It was as if to say, ’I did a pretty good job, right?’
Speechless, Shen Xing lightly bonked it on the head three times.
"Reina, we’re here," Shen Xing called out, glancing back.
But when he saw the Mage’s current state, his gaze flickered.
Reina’s Magic Robe was soaked through from the rain, the thin fabric clinging to her fair skin.
His eyes drifted upward to the faint outline of her fair bust, which stretched the fabric into a dramatic curve.
Shen Xing mused, ’So she’s this well-endowed.’
Reina snapped back to her senses. A wave of heat rose from her body, instantly vaporizing the moisture on her clothes and shrouding her in steam.
"I... I’ll get down now."
Flustered, she scrambled back a short distance, hopped off the bird’s back, and hurried toward a corner of the territory.
Shen Xing watched her retreating figure for a moment before looking away.
Then, he leisurely maneuvered his wheelchair and slid down from Fried Chicken’s back.
He first did a lap on the walls to check on the traps.
He discovered that another wave of monsters had attacked the territory while they were away.
But the defenders, working with the traps, had easily taken care of them.
After finishing his inspection, Shen Xing prepared to sort through his latest gains.
Just then, a dark silhouette emerged from a distant building and "swam" over.
The ground was left clean and tidy wherever the dark silhouette passed, and the faint sound of splashing water could be heard.
"Hu... Human..." Nimue said, propping up her upper body to look at the man in the wheelchair.
"Call me Lord."
"Huh?"
"Never mind. What is it?" Shen Xing asked with a wave of his hand.
"I made some bread... I was hoping you would try it..." Nimue said, her small hands clasped as she gazed at him with anticipation.
Shen Xing paused, recalling her Skills.
This Clam Maiden was a talent who possessed High-Level Cooking Mastery.
’Bread made by her should be quite good.’
"Alright. Take me there."
"Yes, Human... My Lord."
Nimue’s face lit up with joy. She started forward, dragging her pair of shiny black shells behind her.
The two of them arrived at the Food Processing Plant in the southern part of the territory.
A rich aroma of wheat wafted from inside. Just one sniff was enough to make one’s mouth water.
On a nearby rack sat trays of freshly baked bread, still steaming.
The tops were golden brown, while the bottoms looked plump and soft. They looked delicious at first glance.
Not only that, but the loaves were also exquisitely shaped, molded into various forms.
There were seashells, conches, and fish scales.
Compared to these, the bread Monday and the others made wasn’t even in the same league.
"Human... Please, try one," Nimue asked, her face full of anticipation.
Shen Xing nodded and casually picked up a seashell-shaped loaf.
