After wandering the streets of Las Vegas for a morning and having something to eat, Avery Jane returned to the hotel, followed by a few bodyguards. They were well-trained, split into two teams, and always stayed with her every step of the way.

But today, she was determined to shake off these people. She needed to go back and see what was really going on. She couldn’t sleep, as she would dream of Joshua Hughes holding another woman’s hand and walking into the hall whenever she closed her eyes. When she woke up from the dream, she was drenched in cold sweat, with a tingling sensation shooting up from the soles of her feet, making her almost unable to stand steadily.

She liked him, but would he like her as simply as she did? What if his affection came with too many conditions, too many restrictions, or too much deceit? Biting her lip, she suppressed the heartbeat that pounded in her chest and picked up a small bag, packing that maid outfit, her passport, her wallet, then walked out......

The bodyguards stood motionless, and no one could see the expressions behind their sunglasses. The elevator doors opened, and a cleaning staff came out, pushing a cart. Inside the large basket on the cart, there were clean white sheets. Now wasn’t the time to tidy the rooms, why was someone coming up? The bodyguards looked alertly, extending a hand to block the cleaning cart.

"The VIP here requested room service." The cleaning staff spoke cautiously, looking at the indifferent but murderous look of the bodyguards, hoping she wouldn’t cause any trouble for herself.

A bodyguard pressed the doorbell. The door opened, and Avery Jane looked at everything at the doorway, then leaned over and said a couple of apologetic words to the bodyguards at the door. The bodyguards hesitated for a moment, then awkwardly bowed their heads and stepped aside to let the cleaning staff push the cart inside.

"I’m not going out today. Don’t let anyone come to disturb me, and I’ll be turning off my phone. I want to have a good sleep, understand?" Avery Jane stood at the doorway, her face slightly pale, clearly showing signs of excessive blood loss. The bodyguards nodded in agreement; it’s best that this young lady doesn’t go out. Otherwise, they’d have to be ultra-vigilant while watching over her, and bumping or knocking into something would be their fault. It was best for her to obediently stay in the hotel.

After changing the bed sheets, the cleaning staff pushed out the cleaning cart, with the fluffy white sheets piled up inside the large basket. She closed the door casually and entered the elevator with the cleaning cart.

The elevator descended slowly, and someone emerged from the changed bed sheets—a neatly dressed person with a small bag. She stood in the elevator, put on large sunglasses that almost covered half of her small face, kept her head down, and walked out when the elevator stopped, her steps determined without looking back......

The cleaning staff took a deep breath, terrified—it made her so scared she could hardly breathe. What was this, a film shoot or something? Hopefully, this wouldn’t implicate her in anything. She was just following orders.

"Why is Miss Jane’s phone turned off? What is she up to?" Joshua Hughes finished signing the final document. He should return to the Hughes Family early today, but before getting in the car, he wanted to call her and ask if she was having fun. Earlier this morning, a bodyguard had reported that she went shopping and had some food, bought some small trinkets, seemed very happy, but now when he called, her phone was off. Her phone was fully charged yesterday, and she never turned it off.

"Miss Jane is sleeping. She’s, uh, it’s her time of the month. She requested room service to change the bed sheets. She said she’s a bit tired and asked us to make sure no one disturbs her." The bodyguard reported with some embarrassment.

Joshua Hughes slightly furrowed his eyebrows. Today? That seems about three to five days earlier than last month. Avery Jane’s body was still a bit frail, so when it’s that time of the month, she always wants to sleep in bed all day. Looks like his plan for having a child has failed again. The doctor said there’s nothing wrong with their bodies, so why is having a kid so difficult?

"Report any updates immediately." He hung up the phone, put on his suit, his expression cold and stern. This morning, during the board meeting, those old geezers had repeatedly brought up tonight’s banquet and kept instructing him to make a good choice. Continuing this way would only make outsiders think he’s using the Hughes Family customs as an excuse to play around with elite young ladies from all over the world, which would also negatively affect the Hughes Clan. This year’s selection must lead to marriage—everyone hinted at this but didn’t say it outright. In another month, you won’t even have the qualification to meet with me. A chilling and cruel smile hung on his thin lips. These people have used him for years to earn immeasurable wealth for the Hughes Clan, yet still pressure him like this, wanting to turn him into a complete puppet for their monetary gains, hoping to sit back and wait for hefty annual returns. Where in the world is there such an ideal situation?
