Time seemed to pass so slowly, yet for the first time, he felt his breathing was so heavy, heavy to the point he was about to collapse.

He remembered those brutal events, remembered how he treated her as if she was Lucas Yates’s urn, remembered her desperate look back then. All these images kept tearing at his heart. His arm rested on the car window, his eyes closed, his handsome face pale, letting the heartache surge over him like waves, one after another.

When Avery Jane walked out, gazing at the neon lights all over the street, her long lashes gently trembled under the prismatic lights. People are like this, wanting to seek the truth, yet afraid of being hurt by it. Should she try hard to forget what she heard today? Or should she gradually dig out everything? Her pale face was almost becoming translucent under the mystical lighting, standing in the spring night breeze like a white pear blossom blown away by the wind, elegant and melancholic....

Even though she had told herself beforehand to stand firm no matter what she heard. Yet a single conversation almost overwhelmed her. The human heart truly is so fragile, especially a woman’s heart.

Her mind was in turmoil, unwilling to think any further, slowly walking, along the bustling streets.....

Beckett Wright followed her at a distance, neither too close nor too far, silently accompanying her. He knew that today’s events had deeply disturbed her; he only wanted to ensure her safety and had no intention of interrupting her.

From the car parked by the roadside, under the street lamp’s light, her delicate and slender silhouette was clearly visible. Joshua Hughes clutched the steering wheel tightly, his face cold as frost. She still maintained that quiet demeanor, yet he could no longer know what was on her mind. His thin lips were slightly pale, watching her distant figure and the man silently following her.

Joshua knew Beckett liked her; he had known for a long time. But seeing such a scene today was still unbearable. His face was taut and pale; his profound gaze tightly focused on that tiny, delicate figure, while the car moved very slowly....

She walked ahead, with the gentlemanly man trailing behind like a gentle jade. This scene stimulated every nerve in him, causing his head to pound and ache, feeling very uncomfortable.

Everyone had left, Angela Scott gazing at the empty seat opposite, the waiter about to clear away the two unfinished cups of coffee. Angela Scott watched as the waiter was about to take Beckett’s cup; she pulled it towards her: "Leave this cup." In these times, everything is possible, and there’s nothing strange about it. The waiter promptly took away the other cup and withdrew politely.

Angela Scott picked up Beckett’s cup of coffee, already cold, her full lips slowly moving towards it, resting on the rim where he had drunk from. The cup seemed still to carry traces of his presence, clean and urbane, moving, matching the mark he left, as if her lips gently kissed his. She closed her eyes, tears glistening in them........

The odd imagery advanced like a movie in slow motion: the refined, slender, wind-like gentle man watched her as she walked into the top-tier community, like a wandering soul, drifting through the night, her hair brushed lightly by the evening breeze, strands reflecting in the moonlight. Or perhaps it was too much sorrow, even her glossy dark hair shone softly under the moonlight, as if shrouded by melancholy.

The contrast between the man’s focus and the woman’s vagueness stimulated the dark business car following them. The car’s dim lights accentuated the man’s profound and sharp gaze. Watching the scene before him, those unfamiliar might assume a lovers’ quarrel was happening due to the cold stare, with a smile slowly transforming into a chilling, daunting curl, his firm features appearing overly sharp even under such tender moonlight.....

Everyone harbored their own thoughts, traversing through the night.

Within the community, Beckett couldn’t enter the building without a card. He merely watched from afar as Avery Jane mechanically swiped the card and went inside. He looked up at the tall building; the top floor was pitch black. He wanted to see her safely return home before leaving. Actually, the area’s security had always been good; she wouldn’t encounter any trouble. Yet he wished to see the lights come on before departing. Standing under the tree, gazing up at the tall building top, he didn’t notice the black business car driving into the underground parking......
