Bride of Retribution: Aloof Billionaire's Dominant Game
Chapter 956 - 497: Dining Encounter, Tit for Tat
In the Western restaurant, the food on the plate was as exquisite as a piece of art. Avery Jane ate slowly and with great care.
The huge three-tiered crystal chandelier above cast shimmering light, the golden rays illuminating Joshua Hughes. His black suit, with its buttons reflecting a cold gleam, made him look at Avery Jane’s good appetite. Thankfully, her mood hadn’t affected her appetite recently.
"Would you like to try mine?" Joshua asked gently.
"No." Avery Jane glanced at his plate. The beef looked like it was still bloody, which seemed really disgusting. Yet, this man enjoyed eating it that way, almost like drinking blood.
Her tongue licked her lips as she asked softly, "If I eat another serving of foie gras, will people laugh at me?" The girls in the restaurant were dressed as if attending a party, while she wore her work clothes. Though she knew her clothes might be very expensive, they still seemed a bit plain. Her hair was unstyled, and she wore no makeup, feeling somewhat out of place here.
"Of course not." She was his woman, who could laugh at her?
Seeing her greedy look was so adorable, and the way she lightly licked her lips was irresistibly sensual and seductive. She had gradually grown from a young girl into a stunning woman any man would find hard to resist. Time, like the greatest magician, let her beauty seep through, now breathtakingly magnificent, full of charm in every gesture.
"I feel like we’re just like in those idol dramas, a poor girl with a rich young gentleman talking about love, then going to such a high-end restaurant, completely ignoring the romantic atmosphere, just wanting to fill up. Joshua Hughes, I’m actually not a big eater, but this serving is very small." Avery Jane explained shyly. The plate appeared large, but there wasn’t much on it.
"I love it when my Avery eats more and gains some weight." Her face was still small, making her crystal-like eyes even more captivating.
"Actually, I’m not that thin at all." Avery Jane rolled her eyes at Joshua Hughes. His meaning was that she was thin, but she considered herself the kind of person who looked slim in clothes but fit without them.
"I know. Avery has not lost out in areas where she should gain weight." Joshua’s gaze fell on her chest, where the enticing fullness was hidden beneath her shirt. Only he knew the intoxicating sensations and touch.
She looked at him, her eyes sparkling more charmingly than the expensive chandelier above. Unconsciously, a blush appeared on her clear, beautiful face, and her heart skipped a beat. His gaze always swept over her like a burning wave: "You, you..." She didn’t know what to say. The man opposite raised the corners of his mouth, enchantingly tempting, mesmerizing all...
"Were we always like this before? I mean when we first met?" Avery Jane looked at this man, who possessed enough charm to captivate any woman. But how was it when they first met? Was it like this too?
The question pricked Joshua Hughes’s heart again, his eyes glinting like a fleeting stream: "Why did you suddenly ask about our past?"
She paused, her long lashes fluttering like a butterfly flitting through flowers, her hesitant expression was so endearing.
Joshua Hughes’s elegant, well-built body leaned against the back of the chair, seeming sensually lazy, but no one knew his heartbeat raced, nearly ready to leap from his chest. She was indeed curious about his past.
When he focused on a person, it was as if he carried ten thousand volts of strong electricity. Avery Jane dared not meet his gaze under such lights.
"Can’t I be curious? Everyone’s curious about their own past." Avery Jane mumbled softly, her head down.
"Of course, you can, my beautiful sister-in-law." His words dispersed the sweet fragrance in the air.
Behind Joshua Hughes stood a man who bore some resemblance to him. Was it him? She had seen this man at the company, could he be Joshua Hughes’s younger brother?
