Brand New Life Online: Rise Of The Goddess Of Harvest

Chapter 1845: Divine Power

Chapter 1845: Divine Power

Suddenly, vegetation sprouted everywhere. Despairing people and the heavily wounded were gently wrapped in grass and branches. Slowly they healed as flowers bloomed over their bodies, infusing them with vibrant life force. In that moment the raw aggression everyone felt began to fade, though wariness lingered heavily in the air.

“W-Wha…?”

Ulric, Harumi, Berserker, and Assassin all stared upward. A gigantic tree had appeared out of nowhere, and atop it stood a woman who resembled a goddess, gazing down with absolute authority.

As they beheld this beautiful figure radiating divine power, shock gripped them. Was this truly a Heroic Spirit?

“Y-You’re…” Harumi muttered. The young Vampiress stood completely stunned.

“Hah… what… what the hell?” Ulric asked. His eyes widened; his wolf jaws parted in awe. “A-Ah…! D-Divinity?!”

Tears suddenly welled in his eyes. As someone half-beast, he felt a profound, inexplicable connection to this goddess—as though he were gazing at the mother who had died long ago.

The only time he had ever felt such overwhelming pressure was when he battled his elder brother, Beowulf, the current leader of the werewolf pack ruling Tokyo.

“Isn’t… Isn’t it forbidden to summon divine spirits?!” he asked, struggling against the divine authority that threatened to crush his will to fight.

“A-Ahh…!” The black samurai slowly rose, fully healed, and gazed up at the descended goddess. “She saved everyone…”

Berserker, however, remained silent for a moment, seemingly less affected than his master and the others. Then he spoke, voice low and venomous. “You… a false god… an heretic existence… a pagan deity…! There is only one god… the one who made everything. Who are you to speak as if you possess any of his authority? Usurper…!”

“…?” The goddess looked down at Berserker. Her green eyes narrowed slightly. “You’re the one—the Heroic Spirit filled with hatred toward all Creation. Just who are you?”

“Heh…” Berserker smiled creepily. “I am the First Sinner. Who else? I am forever cursed by God to wander the earth… But even after that, I accept my judgment. I deserve it after slaying my brother in cold blood. To repent, I will spread the word of the Lord and slay… the false gods raised by pagan cults.”

“You intend to fight me?” she asked calmly. “I came here to stop your battle. You are causing too much commotion. The great clans inhabiting this area will soon arrive to end it. The world is not your playground, Berserker.”

“Hah, and what gives you the authority to—Ngh?!” Berserker suddenly vomited blood. Countless plants pierced through his flesh and bloomed from his skin. “W-Wha…! Aaah…! Aaaaaaggghhh!”

Ulric watched in horror as Berserker screamed in torment. His entire body burned under the goddess’s radiance. Plant life erupted from his skin and muscles; his bones turned to fertilizer along with the rest of his organs. Blood streamed from his eyes as roses blossomed from them.

The Mother of Nature had transformed him into a living flowerpot.

With nothing more than a thought.

“Your ability grants you endless resurrection, correct?” she asked. “Unless certain conditions are met… But because it would be distasteful and I would never stoop to such cruelty, I will let you go. You—the werewolf—kneel.”

“Hyeee?!” Ulric cried out. He dropped to his knees without conscious thought. “Y-Yes, great goddess?”

“Take your Heroic Spirit and leave this place. Now,” she commanded. “The war will formally begin tomorrow. I would prefer we conduct it in less populated areas or within Domains. I could kill you right now if I wished, but I will not—out of mercy.”

“T-Thank you, oh great mother of life and nature…” Ulric muttered. Tears streamed down his face as he turned his Heroic Spirit into pure spirit energy, causing his body to vanish. Then he leaped away—fleeing as far from this monstrous spirit as possible.

Harumi watched in awe as the werewolf departed. Behind the incredible Heroic Spirit who had spread nature everywhere—spawning an entire forest in seconds—she noticed a young girl, likely the goddess’s master.

“Thank you… You saved me…” the young Dhampir sighed in relief. “I had no idea his Heroic Spirit possessed such a cheat-like ability… How can anyone defeat something that resurrects endlessly?”

“By slaying the master,” her Heroic Spirit answered with a sigh. He appeared before her. “Master, I believe we should leave for now.”

“Wait a moment, Assassin,” Harumi said. She stood fully healed and turned her gaze toward the goddess and her master. “Thank you for saving me. I owe you one.”

“I did what had to be done,” the goddess replied. “This battle was nothing but barbaric.” She paused, studying Harumi. “Dear, you’re a Vampire? No—a Dhampir. Within your veins flows the blood of ancient demons.”

“A-Ah, yes…” Harumi murmured. “I suppose I couldn’t keep my identity hidden. When I summoned Assassin, I immediately went after Berserker because he was nearby… but I really didn’t expect this. I thought we had won, but then that thing rose again, stronger than before…”

“My apologies,” her Heroic Spirit said. “I have only just been summoned. It is my fault I did not go all-out. Next time I will not be defeated so easily. I refrained from using my full power out of fear it would drain all your Magic and leave you defenseless against the werewolf…”

“So that’s why…” Harumi sighed. “I suppose I was the reckless one… I was wondering—what are your names?”

“I’m Elena…” The girl spoke softly. She looked a little shy at first, half-hiding behind her mother, but then she stepped forward, realizing she should not act timid in such a war. “I am Ruler’s master.” For now, she decided to play along.

“Ruler?” Harumi asked. Her eyes narrowed. “Such a Class of Heroic Spirit exists? Wait… I do remember hearing something, but do you know anything, Assassin?”

“Yes,” Assassin answered solemnly. His eyes narrowed as he gazed at Elena’s Heroic Spirit. “Rulers are the arbiters of the Holy War. They are not usually summoned to fight for the Grail, but to oversee it—to enforce the rules, prevent chaos, and punish those who twist the war into something beyond its purpose.”

Harumi’s eyes widened. “So… she’s not just another servant. She’s the one who decides the fate of the war itself? I had no idea such a thing existed.”

Elena’s mother—the Ruler-class Heroic Spirit—stood tall. Her divine aura softened slightly but never wavered. “That is correct. I was summoned not by chance, but by necessity. The balance of this war is already fracturing. The First Sinner’s presence alone proves it. If left unchecked, this war will consume far more than this country—it will consume the world itself.”

Assassin clenched his fists. Lightning flickered faintly around his arms. “Then… you are our judge. I sincerely apologize for causing so many disasters.”

Ruler’s gaze settled on him. Her eyes pierced deeply, yet they also carried a mother’s gentleness. “I am not here to judge blindly. I am here to protect the order of this war and ensure the Holy Grail fulfills its true purpose. But know this: if you or your master stray too far—if you bring ruin upon innocents—I will not hesitate to end your participation… ahead of time. Although I am a Ruler, I will also fight alongside my master to win this war.”
