Brand New Life Online: Rise Of The Goddess Of Harvest

Chapter 1834: Humilliation

Chapter 1834: Humilliation

—–

BOOOMMM!!!

The golem shielded the girls from the falling meteor as the massive explosion engulfed it. Its entire body crumbled into pieces and dissolved into particles of spiritual energy.

“Now, attack them! Don’t lose focus!”

Without wasting time, as a large cloud of dust rose, Tyr Valenhardt seized the opportunity. He conjured dozens of deadly spells alongside his sibling and his three cousins—who all resembled him with blonde hair and orange-red eyes.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Yet as their bombardment cleared the smoke, it revealed nothing but empty air. Their eyes widened when dozens of ghostly swords suddenly rushed toward them from every direction.

“That demon’s magic— Aaagh!”

Tyr Valenhardt was caught off-guard as three swords impaled his body at once. He vomited blood, feeling his soul and consciousness twist. His mana flow was interrupted as he fell from the air and crashed into the ground.

“Uuuggh…! D-Damn it!”

He staggered to his feet, using his many magic artifacts to heal. He heard Elena’s footsteps approaching through the smoke, her glowing red eyes fixed on him.

“Hah…! So you separated me from my family? And what makes you think I’m any weaker than them?! If anything, I’m the one carrying them!”

“I know. That’s why I separated you.”

“…?!”

Tyr Valenhardt’s eyes widened again. Amidst the skies, he saw his sibling and cousins being assaulted by dozens of spells from Elisa, Anna, and Monica’s wands.

“Aaaagh! Brother!”

His little brother cried out for help as dozens of ghostly, cursed chains conjured by Monica wrapped around his body. He vomited and convulsed in agony until he passed out.

“W-What’s happening?!”

“Damn it!”

“Our magic’s not working!”

The three cousins struggled against Elisa, who covered herself in a large barrier of golden dragon scales. At the same time, she conjured a giant golden dragon claw from above, swinging it down and slashing their bodies.

“Nngh!”

“How dare you!”

Resilient enough, they retaliated with giant pillars of holy fire and demonic winds. The third even summoned a giant black stone golem to fight back.

Anna, however, was already there. She summoned her Wind Wolf and Phoenix—both immune to winds and fire. They absorbed the spells and released them from their jaws as powerful beams of wind and thunder, bombarding the cousins as they desperately struggled. It did not look good.

“Tsk! I-It doesn’t matter!” Tyr Valenhardt roared. “You, a filthy demon, a demi-human, will never surpass us true magicians!”

With fury, all his magic artifacts activated—over a dozen equipped across his body. Strengthening spells made him physically more powerful; defense spells hardened his skin like steel. At the same time, two summoned creatures—a white dove and a black crow—constantly fired beams of holy light and abyssal void at Elena.

“Hey, isn’t this a bit too pay-to-win?! Damn cheater! You’re just using your family’s wealth!”

Elena complained as she dodged the spells and attacks. Tyr charged at her, swinging his fists and trying to land a punch.

“Hahahahaha! Is this your way of coping, you lowly demi-human? My family’s wealth IS my strength!”

Physical fighting was supposedly not allowed; Olivia had repeatedly told her never to fight like this.

“Hey! Isn’t this supposed to not be allowed?!”

“…”

“…”

“…”

“…”

“…”

Yet nobody said anything about Tyr’s fighting style, even though he was clearly violating the rules…

“I see how it is.”

She felt the sharp, intense gazes of the magicians and grandmasters. She realized how much they wanted her and her group gone.

Even the professors and grandmasters went out of their way to say nothing. She knew that if she dared use her swordsmanship, they would immediately blame her and expel her.

In the end, the Clock Tower was not regulated by any government or bound by world-wide standards. There were no human rights here—it was whatever the high families declared right.

Elena and her friends, backed by Olivia, had been walking a thin thread this entire time…

And this was the moment they were supposed to lose.

“Why do you keep running away?! Come and fight me, demon! Use your swordsmanship, use your supernatural abilities! Hehehehe…! HAHAHAHA!”

Tyr laughed, fully aware the entire fight was already in his favor. He had the backing of several families that ran the Clock Tower. Today the director was busy with field work dealing with the ever-expanding Necropolis, so he wasn’t around to supervise.

But Elena… didn’t care.

She stood tall and stopped running. Her wand glowed with curses as dozens of phantom swords materialized at once. Tyr laughed and charged, only to be impaled by them.

“With my reinforcement magic, your pitiful blades won’t work anymore! DIE!”

He laughed maliciously as his fists rushed down toward her… but Elena remained calm. She raised her wand, and her phantom swords turned pitch black.

From the darkness they generated, black knights emerged—wielding the swords and swinging them against him.

“Eh?”

Swordsmanship was unleashed. Dozens of powerful sword attacks loaded with sword magic struck him from every angle.

“W-What is this?! Are you cheating?!”

As he struggled, Elena smiled.

“Cheating? How could I? I merely summoned these new familiars. My newest spell—it’s called Shadow Knight Summon. Every knight is very weak, but they can wield swords. I simply give them mental commands, like any magician would do with their summons or spells.”

“…!”

Tyr clenched his teeth as the Shadow Knights swarmed him. Their phantom, cursed swords slowly broke through his hardened skin and barriers, impaling his body.

“Aaaaggghh! S-She’s cheating! She’s cheating! D-Do something! Big brother!”

His brother, Bernand, stood up to protest, but Olivia smiled at him.

“What do you think you’re doing, Bernand? So far as I can see, my student is just standing there waving her wand. What sort of cheating is there?”

“Y-You…! Olivia Coyett! What have you taught those monsters?!”

“Monsters?”

Olivia’s aura shifted. She suddenly became far more serious. A powerful formation manifested around her, elevating her magical power to overwhelming heights—vastly surpassing Bernand, the so-called “pedigree” of magician families.

“Care to say that again, dog of the Valenhardt family?” she asked with clear indignation.

He suddenly felt immense pressure. He tried to complain, but the professors and grand masters never intervened in disputes between fellow coworkers. They were adults, after all.

“Now stay there, on the floor, and watch how your beloved little brother loses pathetically.”

“T-Tyr! Forfeit! You’re going to die! TYR!”

There was no rule against killing—though it was generally advised against. Students had died in these tests before, and the victors never faced repercussions.

“Aaaahhh! Big brother! I-I…!” Tyr gritted his teeth as more swords pierced him. “I-I FORFEIT!! I…! I FORFEIT!” Between tears and snot dripping from his nose, the young heir of the Valenhardt family forfeited in utter humiliation.

“Oh, is that so?” Elena mused. She waved her wand, and her Shadow Knights halted. Tyr fell to the ground, barely alive.

“Medic! Send healers to—”

Before any medic could reach them, Elisa cast a powerful Holy Light Spell of Healing, restoring them quickly—further humiliating the Valenhardt family.

“Are you alright?” Elisa asked, extending a helping hand. “Come on… stand up.”

“G-Get away from me!” Tyr cried angrily. He stood and ran off in humiliation, tears streaming down his face. “Buaaaahhh! Daddyyyy do something!”

There was some awkward silence for a moment before the announcer finally continued.

“The victor of the first match is… Uh, it’s the Coyett Party! Congratulations! Yeah…”

Even the announcer seemed stunned by how everything unfolded—especially how Elena found a loophole to use her swordsmanship purely through conjuration and summoning magic.

“Well done, girls! You did it! Amazingly done!”

Olivia clapped. She summoned a formation where dozens of light clones applauded her students—even though literally 99% of the audience remained silent… except for Anna’s mother, who had just arrived and watched everything unfold at the edge of her seat.

“YEAH! THAT’S MY DAUGHTER! FUCK YEAAAAAAH—ah, s-sorry,” she quickly quieted down once she noticed the intense stares of the magicians.

After the prestigious noble family’s humiliation, Elena and her friends returned to the audience area. They had a warm conversation with their master and Anna’s mother, who had arrived midway through the fight.

“That’s my Anna! That’s my daughter! Hahaha!” she laughed and hugged her dear daughter tightly. “Oh man, so much has happened… but I’m glad I still have you, dear.”

“Me too, Mom…” Anna smiled, hugging her mother back with equal warmth.

Elena gave a light smile as she watched them together, happy despite how much had changed in the last year. But then she felt a pang of loneliness. She looked down in silence.
