Chapter 1815: Descending Further Into The Dungeon

“The deeper you go, the more monsters there are,” Blank said. “Come, I know a way down.”

Blank led them to stairs descending into the mountain’s roots. Everyone felt a flicker of nervousness but stepped forward into the darker depths of the caverns.

The light grew scarce here, with glowing crystals and mushrooms becoming rare. Mark and Elayne solved that problem easily; both of their auras shone like lampposts, illuminating the path ahead.

“This is the Dark Mountain Root Caverns,” Blank explained.

“The monsties here are strong. There are no Tier 1s, so be careful— Ah, here they come,” Chalk said.

RUMBLE!

From the distance, a series of bioluminescent lights appeared, approaching swiftly. When Elayne and Mark brightened their auras, the group stared in awe at more than twelve giant insect-like monsters oozing cursed energy. Behind them loomed an even larger creature commanding the horde.

They resembled grotesque hybrids of fat caterpillars, millipedes, and spiders. The larger Tier 2 ones carried castles of white stone atop their shells.

“The strongest ones look quite tough. Let’s handle them, Mark!” Elayne said. “You guys take care of the smaller ones with your strength. Yaga, please support us with spells like before!”

“Tsk, you’re always pushing this old lady,” Yaga sighed, nodding as she opened three grimoires at once. They floated around her aura, which shifted into dozens of ghostly blue goblins assisting her. “All right, children, time to work!”

Yaga conjured a barrage of spells in an instant: Nether Ghostly Armor, Phantom Senses, Obsidian Bones, Miasma Boost, Elemental Burst, and more. Lisette raised Colorless Walls to shove the smaller Tier 2 monsters away, preventing them from overwhelming the group and separating them from the Tier 3s.

Seizing the moment, Elayne and Mark sprang into action. Blank and Chalk watched from above, shifting into their complete ghostly forms.

“Is it really fine for us not to intervene at all?” Blank wondered.

“It seems these foes are truly tough, but she said she didn’t need our help,” Chalk sighed. “I guess if we help too much, it might earn them less merit with the system and less Experience?”

“Perhaps, but I think they want these life-and-death situations to help them grow as well,” Blank replied. “Nonetheless…!”

Though they preferred to stand back, another monster slowly crept in from behind: a nightmarish aberration of countless limbs, heads, eyes, and screaming mouths, groaning aberrantly and radiating a terrifying aura.

It moved with deliberate slowness, but the two White Ghosts recognized it immediately. They summoned their White Void Weapons and pointed them at the approaching horror.

“GROOOOHHHHH!”

It was a Tier 4 monster, forcing Chalk and Blank to get serious for the first time.

The creature looked like an amalgamation of fused bodies—various beasts, undead, and even some noble races—melted together within pulsating purple goo.

“A Corpse Eater, and a big one at Tier 4, brother!” Chalk said.

“Yes, this one is worthy of our time,” Blank smiled. “Let’s hunt it! A Tier 4 Heart would be a great gift to Elayne!”

“…Again with that?” Chalk sighed as she clashed against the Corpse Eater alongside her brother.

Meanwhile, Elayne and Mark engaged the five Tier 3 monsters. Their fortress shells proved incredibly resilient, used both to shield themselves and to launch fierce attacks.

These creatures wielded long scythe-like front arms that could slice through prey in an instant. Elayne and Mark understood that a single direct hit meant death, so they poured everything into evading or parrying.

Each missed strike carved into walls or ceilings, sending boulders crashing down and momentarily confusing the monsters.

“I guess it’s time I use some of this too.”

Elayne pressed her bare feet to the floor and infused her Nature Soul into the stone. Roots spread through the rock as mushrooms, moss, and withered trees sprouted everywhere, bearing red fruits shaped like screaming faces.

She had held back most of this power until now, focusing on polishing her physical abilities and swordsmanship. But with the situation demanding it, she unleashed what she had been saving and refining.

“Netherworld Farming Arts – Farming Terrain Expansion: Netherworld Garden!”

As her Terrain spread, the plants she had cultivated in her Domain materialized around her. New seeds she had assimilated into her body burst forth and grew almost instantly. Spores erupted into giant mushrooms and more.

Mark watched in amazement. The plants—carefully modified by Elayne to be harmless and edible—now unleashed their untamed primal power. They attacked the monsters relentlessly: sharp vines wrapped around them, explosive bombs detonated against their bodies, life was sucked from flesh and bones, and blood drained from every wound.

“Gyyaaaaahhh!”

“Gryaaaeerrgh?!”

“Shyaaaeeegh!”

“Gyyyyyhhh!”

The monsters recoiled in utter shock as Mother Nature herself rose against them in a realm and plane where she should not even exist. Elayne controlled the plants as extensions of her own body. Her Nature Soul expanded like roots in every direction, forming her own Spirit Veins.

“SHYAAAAAHH!”

Yet the monsters were naturally resilient. Three of the five broke free and charged Elayne, swinging their massive scythes. Mark roared and swung his blazing sword, summoning dozens of Totem Spirits forged from his Soul Flames: Blazing Sunlight Lions, Fire Birds, Lava Sharks, Magma Bats, and more swarmed the attackers.

“Mark, don’t overdo it…!” Elayne called, worry flashing in her voice.

“Don’t worry! I’ve been letting my Soul burn through a lot of fuel, so I’m more than ready!” Mark roared back. Soul flames blazed endlessly around him as he shaped them into giant blazing swords, spears, axes, and hammers.

“Blazing Soul Spirit Armory!”

Conjuring a new Spell on the spot, Mark unleashed a tempest of soul-flame weapons. They impaled the beasts and detonated, rapidly weakening the super-tough foes until they finally began to slow.

“It’s working—they’re getting slower! Let’s press on!” Mark shouted.

“Okay!” Elayne roared in response. She swung Asteria, dodging a scythe and slicing through it cleanly. She seized the severed limb, a faint memory of Morpheus flickering through her mind, then gripped it with a third spiritual arm. Her second hand held her Nether Soil-Shaping Ghostly Bones Hoe: Bianca, which aided in Terrain Modification and more.

Channeling both swordsmanship and farming techniques, Elayne sprouted a pair of wings from withered branches, black leaves, red roses, thorny vines, and mushrooms. She flew toward her foe and struck with all three weapons at once.

SLASH! SLASH! SLASH! CLASH! CLASH! CLASH!

“Gyyaaaarrr!”

The Tier 3 monster writhed in agony. Elayne roared back fiercely, harnessing her full power and releasing it in a single devastating swing forward.
