Brand New Life Online: Rise Of The Goddess Of Harvest

Chapter 1584: Planes And So On

Then there was the Mortal Plane, where the world as everyone know it exists, the entirety of earth. It is also often referred as the “Physical Plane” where the laws of physics as we know them apply completely. Both the Physical Plane and the Mortal Plane are interchangeable terms and everyone most of the time use both to refer to the same thing.

In this Plane is where humanity was born, interactions with the other two Planes, the Realms, and more is what creates “Mystery” and “Magic” as everyone knows it. Mana leaks naturally from these two Planes and their Realms, through what some might refer as the Fourth Layer, which encompasses all others the “Mana Fog Layer” where Mana flows freely across dimensions.

From what Elayne has learned, in the past the Planes were much more connected, and the Physical Plane tended to have many more interactions with the other two Planes and their developing Realms. To the point it felt like all three Planes were almost the same world.

But over time, as humanity advanced, and they began pushing back magic and mystery, and deeming it a “taboo” to protect themselves from the “unknown”, these Planes gained a greater separation. Perhaps by the will of the Gods, Divinities created by Human belief and faith, or other things entirely, who knows.

The fact remained, as the world itself continued becoming drier of mana, and mystery became much rarer. 99% of the population had no idea magic existed, they had no idea of magus families, monsters, or realms at all. And like this, the great Magus Families kept the world at peace and balance, even if the normal people fought each other in wars, most of this was of no consequence to Magus Families, who lived outside of all of this, some even timeless.

That is, until the First Contact happened, and the Physical or Mortal Plane came into contact with another world entirely, outside of Earth, the other Realms, and the Planes, a world that even now, the Magus Families are still investigating, an “alien world” that filled the Mortal Plane with so much Mana that it could be said it is almost as comparable as the other two!

Elayne knew that some speculate that a second “Age of the Gods” was coming, the last that ended over eight hundred years ago… Or well, she didn’t quite know this, it was information she gained from devouring the soul of Nakuna, providing her with a lot of knowledge.

And lastly, without further delay, the third Layer, it was the “Hell Layer”, the “Underworld Layer” or sometimes even referred as “The After Life” and such. This was the lowest of the three Planes, the closest to the void of darkness. This is where Hell existed, where Demons came from, and where various Underworld Realms also existed, where many souls went to rest, or where they were brought to reincarnate and move back to the Mortal Plane as new lives.

Although the war between Heaven and Hell has been as old as time immemorial, before the First Contact, their battles were at a much lesser scale within the Mortal Plane, to the point there was relative peace with this big wall known as the Physical Plane stopping them from directly engaging.

However, like in the Age of the Gods and Ancient Times, as the Physical or Mortal Plane is filled with more Mana, the “wall” between Planes is loosened, and the laws of physics are warped, allowing the beings from such Realms and Planes to step into the Physical/Mortal Plane, the “battlefield” where Heaven and Hell battle for supremacy of the entire World.

And this “battlefield” was becoming larger with each day, as the Mana spread through the globe, as “Gates” or “Dungeons” appeared, and as otherworldly monsters emerged and brought more Mana to this world, the power that the Heaven and the Hell Plane could exert into the Mortal Plane increased rapidly.

The Demons were going crazy, and the Black Hand saw a great opportunity to grow stronger, steal resources, and destroy the annoying Magus Family Alliances across the world…

This was perhaps one of the reasons why Elayne meet Gabriel and Demons in the Physical Plane so openly, something impossible before the First Contact… It wasn’t that these things started only happening to her, but in general, they became much more common recently!

Elayne continued chatting with Mark and Gabriel about these things, explaining to them the great knowledge she had learned from Nakuna’s memories.

“A-Are you sure you’re okay though? This knowledge is amazing, yeah, but his personality is not…?” Mark naturally became worried.

“Ah, don’t worry, he’s not like alive inside of me, his personality is gone, all his memories were stored inside my soul like some sort of library of knowledge,” Elayne explained. “I can imagine the library inside of me… quite easily, and whenever I want to know information, one of the books automatically reads everything for me… there’s another part of the library for Nakuna’s personal life and his personal memories, but for now I ignored that one, although it would only feel like I’m reading his biography rather than feel like he was possessing me or something.”

“Whew, that’s a relief then,” Mark nodded, smiling. “Anyway, it’s really amazing that you know this much… I think I can finally see things clearer… And wait, the Dream Realm is also just a Realm?”

“It’s technically part of the Fourth Layer, it occupies the same space as the Mana Fog, they’re two different things but occupy the same space,” Elayne explained. “This might be the reason why the Dream Realm/Plane is so useful; it connects all three Planes and possibly all of the Realms. You could imagine it as a big hub area in a video game that connects you to every other stage.”

“Oh yeah, it sounds amazing, so investing into adapting and being able to survive here was the wise choice then!” Mark nodded happily. “Alright then, shall we go eat something though? I’m kind of starving myself.”

“Sure!” Elayne nodded. “Let’s cook some of those Dream Spirit Beasts we hunted recently!”
