Bonding System: I Grow Stronger by Taming My Sect Elders
Chapter 21: Gift from Eleanor
Veyron was surprised. His mother had had a beautiful goddess like this as a friend. Eleanor shook her head.
"I am nothing compared to her. She gave up everything for her love and for you. Her sacrifice is the greatest. You should be proud to be her son... Disciple Veyron."
As she spoke, the strictness on her face turned a little gloomy. Veyron was about to ask something. His aunt had told him very little about his mother. Aveline cut him off before he could.
"Now, what are you going to do about the outer court?"
Eleanor saw the change of subject. She understood, and went with it. "I will handle it myself. And if I deem anyone worthy, I’ll hand the position to them."
"And don’t worry. I won’t make the same mistake again," she added, her voice resolute.
Veyron watched them shift the topic. He understood he would not be getting the full history of his parents any time soon. He did not force it.
Eleanor looked at Veyron again. "I won’t ask how you got your spirit veins repaired, but it’s good to know you’ll be able to cultivate again."
Of course she would wonder how he had managed it. She knew the condition his veins had been in, and how hard it was to repair something like that.
Even Aveline did not know what to say about it. Veyron decided to stay silent. He knew his aunt would handle this.
"Still, I want to remind you of something. I’ve come to know you’re quite hot-tempered, so you should try ignoring people sometimes.
Not everything is under my control, even if I am the leader of the disciplinary hall. And of course, it comes down to power and influence. You’re weak now. Keep your profile low. When you have enough strength, you can challenge whoever you want."
Veyron smiled and bowed. "I’ll keep the words of Grand Elder Eleanor in my mind."
"Hmm... good." Something appeared in Eleanor’s hand. A small box. Aveline’s eyes widened slightly when she saw it. Eleanor continued.
"This is a small gift from me. It will help you increase your cultivation quickly. I hear you’re trying to break through to the Spirit Adept realm in three months. It’s going to be very hard, if not impossible. It depends on your hardwork and talent"
Veyron was surprised. The box floated into his hands. When he opened it, his eyes widened.
Inside were five grade-three pills. These were only given to core disciples. He had seen them with his senior sister Xialyn, and they were far greater than the useless grade-one pills he had received before.
Although his aunt had given him grade-three pills a few times, and he had used them, it had not mattered. His crippled veins had wasted all of them.
Aveline did not have them in abundance either. She needed to share them with her disciples as well.
And sometimes, when she did give one to Veyron, he would pass it to his senior sister Xialyn instead. It would have been a waste on him. So he had only depended on grade-one pills, and sometimes grade-two pills.
But now, these would be a great help in speeding up his cultivation. He immediately thanked her. "Thank you very much, Grand Elder, for such a generous gift."
"Hmm... it’s fine. Work hard, and don’t let your aunt down again." Eleanor did not smile, but her face was no longer strict. It was calm.
Inwardly, Veyron thought there was no way in hell she was going to end up in a random slot. She would definitely be joining his harem. He glanced at his aunt, who gave him a small nod, silently telling him that accepting was the right choice.
He understood. Eleanor was his mother’s friend, and a grand elder on top of that. Even so, it did not mean she had an abundance of grade-three pills. They were precious. This was genuinely a great gift.
"Alright. You may go back now and start cultivating. You shouldn’t waste any more time. I’ll be talking to your aunt for a while, so you can go alone."
Veyron nodded. Aveline said, "Go now. I’ll come back soon." With that, he left the disciplinary hall and made his way back toward Jade Mist Peak.
....
At the entrance of Jade Mist Peak...
Benny, Jack, and Will stood waiting for Veyron. Half an hour had already passed. They had heard Elder Ren’s announcement—Elder Beric’s crimes, and the leader of the disciplinary hall herself stripping him of his position.
The news had stirred the whole sect. Outer, inner, and even core regions were talking about it. Something like this had not happened in a long time.
When the reason spread, people were stunned that the vice leader of the disciplinary hall had done such a thing.
Many praised Veyron for facing justice head-on instead of fearing the consequences, and Grand Elder Eleanor for making a fair decision on the spot.
Not everyone was pleased, of course. Those who supported the Ignis clan, or belonged to it, showed their displeasure. They had known about Elder Beric.
People were still surprised that a cripple like Veyron had shown such bravery. But another rumor was already moving through the sect. His spirit veins had been repaired, and he could cultivate properly now.
"It’s great. That motherfucker Elder Beric got what he deserved," Benny said, anger still in his voice.
"Yeah... I feel so much better now. Satisfied. And it’s all because of Veyron. If he hadn’t done what he did today..." Will replied.
"But don’t you guys think he seemed a bit different today? Is the rumor true? Did he really get his spirit veins repaired?"
"He does seem a little different. Who knows, maybe it’s true. We’ll ask him when he comes back." Benny sat down, tired from all the running.
"Ask what?"
A familiar voice came from behind them. They had been facing the stairs of Jade Mist Peak. When they turned, Veyron was already standing there. None of them had sensed him arrive.
When did he get here?
"Brother Veyron, you’re back!!" Benny shot to his feet and lunged to hug him. Veyron stepped aside. Benny hit the ground on his stomach.
"Don’t hug me, you bastard. I only take hugs from women." Veyron’s voice was full of disgust. Jack and Will laughed as Benny stayed down.
"Anyways... what are you guys doing here?" Veyron asked.
"We’re waiting for you." Benny pushed himself up, rubbing his nose. It had gone red from the fall.
"How did it go? We heard the announcement," Jack said.
"Yes, tell us everything," Will added, eyes bright.
Veyron sighed. "Sigh... alright..."
He told them what had happened in the main hall of the disciplinary department. As they listened, their eyes widened again and again. When he finished, the three of them stayed quiet for a few seconds.
Then Benny spoke. "Damn! Bro... you’re on fire today. And damn, you lucky bastard!!"
Veyron rolled his eyes. "Yeah, you could say that. I’m not going to deny it."
"Anyway, is it true? Did you really get your spirit veins repaired?" Will asked.
Veyron answered at once. He told them the same story he had told his aunt.
"Fuck. You met an old sage and didn’t even beg him to take you as his disciple?" Benny said, realizing it too late.
Veyron rolled his eyes again. "Alright. With this, I want to tell you guys something. You won’t be seeing me for three months. I’m going into closed-door cultivation."
"What!?"
All three reacted at once.
"I want to break through to the Spirit Adept realm," Veyron said. "And I’ll be participating in the inner court disciple selection."
"Really? But is it even possible to break through six realms when you don’t have a good cultivation technique?" Will asked.
Veyron smiled. "We’ll just have to see about that."
After talking with his friends for a while longer and discussing various things, Veyron climbed the stairs of Jade Mist Peak.
As he reached the top and made his way toward his house, he spotted his senior sister, Xialyn, standing outside with her arms folded, seemingly as though she had been waiting for someone for quite some time.
The moment she saw him, she said, "You’re back!"
