Chapter 13: Joining Jade mist Peak

She locked an arm around his neck. It looked more funny than dangerous, the kind of scuffle they had fallen into a hundred times, her strength held carefully back so she would not actually hurt him.

"Fuck... let me go!" Veyron defended himself, pushing at her arm.

Aveline watched their usual display of love and sighed. "Alright, alright... stop, you two. Sigh... are you still kids? Come on, let’s go out. Today the other disciples have already been waiting for a long time."

"Vey, you also come with us."

"Yes, Master."

"Alright, Aunt."

With that, all three of them left the house and made their way toward the peak hall of Jade Mist Peak.

All the grand elders had their own peaks, where they taught their disciples personally. They could accept disciples from the outer, inner, and core places of the sect, but the choice was never casual.

Those disciples had to be exceptionally talented for a grand elder to accept them onto their peak. Not every disciple got the chance to join a peak of the sect. Outer and inner disciples rarely did.

The path was narrow, and most never reached it. Core disciples were fewer, so they were able to join peaks more easily. Becoming a core disciple already proved they were very talented.

Apart from that, any elder could accept a disciple. It was not reserved only for grand elders. What made the difference was standing.

Disciples accepted by elders were not valued as highly as disciples accepted by grand elders. The name behind a disciple mattered, and a grand elder’s name carried further than most.

And the most valued of all were the personal disciples accepted by grand elders. There could be one, or more than one. They were taught directly, kept close, and watched by the rest of the sect. Xialyn was the personal disciple of Aveline.

Coming through to the present, the three of them reached the peak hall soon, as it was not far from Aveline’s residence.

Veyron saw a total of twenty girls standing there. Most of them wore sect uniforms. More were yellow, which meant they were inner court disciples.

Only two of them wore white robes, which meant they were outer disciples, and more than five were core disciples wearing grey.

And all of them were females, breathtaking beauties. Though they were not on the same level as Veyron’s aunt and Xialyn, they were still exceptional beauties.

Aveline only accepted female disciples, and taught them techniques related to illusion and charm, and other battle techniques that were not barbaric, but elegant, yet very lethal in combat.

"WE GREET THE GRAND ELDER AVELINE — JADE ENCHANTRESS!"

"Oh, come on. Didn’t I tell you girls not to call me that always?"

Aveline said, shaking her head at being called by that title every time. Aveline had been given a title by everyone, and she was referred to as the Jade Enchantress because of her exceptional beauty and power.

"Why not aunt? It suits you perfectly," Veyron said with a wink.

"Shut up, Vey, and call me Grand Elder now. No Aunt here!"

"Sigh... alright," Veyron said in defeat.

Xialyn reached the girls as they began to whisper among each other.

"Are my eyes seeing things, or is that Junior Brother Veyron?"

"No, you are not seeing things... it’s him... but he looks so different today."

"Oh... gosh... look how handsome he looks in those robes, and his hair tied behind like a prince."

"Other than that, something about him looks more different... but I don’t know what."

Seeing the murmurs among the girls, Xialyn sighed as she waited for her master to quiet them and make an announcement. She saw Veyron standing there and drooling over these girls behind her.

That little brat... he needs more beating, she thought.

Though she could not understand it, did getting his spirit veins repaired make him this much more open? She sighed inwardly and thought she would teach him a lesson later.

"Alright, alright... girls, enough discussion..." Aveline said, amplifying her voice with spirit energy and getting everyone’s attention. The girls paid their attention to the grand elder.

"Before we start today’s lesson, I have an announcement to make... and that is regarding your fellow junior disciple, Veyron."

They all grew quite curious about what this was about, and they were slightly surprised to see Veyron here today, as he never took lessons with them. This must be fairly important.

Although Aveline was not a blood-related aunt of Veyron, she treated him with more love than a real aunt, or some could say she was like a mother to him.

And this fact was known to almost everyone in Skyreach City, if not to many in the whole Sunmoon Empire. Although he was ridiculed by many for being useless, he had an important standing for that reason.

Other than that, Aveline’s disciples, though not all of them thought positively of him, mostly empathized with his condition and liked him.

So now that Aveline brought up an announcement related to her nephew Veyron, as she had never done that, they all grew quite curious.

"It’s a rather good announcement, or better to call it good news, as my Vey’s spirit veins have finally been repaired, and he will be able to cultivate like all of you now, and he will be joining our peak today." Aveline’s voice was blooming with happiness as she told her disciples this news.

They all looked surprised, but then they realized the grand elder must have finally been able to find some treasure which did the trick, as there was no other explanation. Many of them happily congratulated Veyron.

"Congratulations, Junior Brother Veyron!"

"Congratulations, Junior Brother."

"Congratulations, Senior Brother Veyron."

The outer sect girls called him senior brother, as they were younger than him. He was already twenty, and they were only eighteen.

"But Aun—! I mean, Grand Elder, how will I join your peak? It’s only for girls. Will it be useful for me to learn these techniques?" Veyron asked.

Many of the girls agreed with his words. Grand Elder Aveline had never accepted a male disciple. Even though he was her closest one, she could not break the terms.

They knew he was not talented enough. He had only just gotten his veins repaired, which did not give him the qualification to join their peak. Their peak was ranked second, and you had to be very talented to be able to join it.

Veyron understood it, and so did the girls, which was why they all agreed with his words. Xialyn did not understand why her master was doing this.

"I understand what you mean, Vey, but it’s not official. It will only be temporary. Studying with them, you will be able to learn quickly, as there are only three months left before the selection of inner court disciples begins."

"I know it’s hard to break through to the sixth realm in such an amount of time, but you can at least work hard and learn from them, as they are all exceptionally talented."

So that’s what she means. Veyron understood.

[She is right....And it’s working in your favor. You will get to be with this many beauties. You can bond with them, and if they have good aspects, you can share them.]

Veyron also understood, and yeah, it was a great offer. It was not the time to think about the rules and such. Sometimes his previous memories took over him.

"Alright, Grand Elder. I’ll join Jade Mist Peak temporarily."

Aveline’s smile widened as she heard her baby’s answer. It would help him more, and she would be able to spend more time with him.

"Yay... we have our first male disciple, Junior Brother Veyron!"

The girls became excited. They came forward, surrounded him, and started asking all sorts of questions, as they all wanted to get close to him. And some of them were teasing him.

Xialyn’s and Aveline’s eyebrows twitched as they saw the scene. Aveline quickly shouted, "Quickly, everyone, get back to your places. Leave him."

They could not disregard her command. Soon they left and got back to their places, but Veyron was filled with bonding system notifications.
