[BL]The Matchmaker Guide Doesn't Want Love

Chapter 200: Ch 200: Sudden Fever - Part 1

  • Next Chapter

Noah spent the next four days relaxed in his bed, but he kept waiting for the bomb to drop. After all, he had no idea why Alan and Daniel were being so patient with him when they had no reason to be.

They should start asking him questions sooner or later.

But they did not ask anything for the next four days. It was a blissful four days where he was never alone. ℯℓ.

The second he found himself alone, Daniel or Alan swooped in and talked with him until he stopped feeling lonely. He could even go as far as to say that he was happy.

But all good things needed to come to an end, and he knew that Alan and Daniel could not possibly stay here forever. And since they showed no signs of leaving themselves, it felt like it was his duty to ask.

"Excuse me, but how long are you going to be staying here for? Are you sure you can take such a long leave from your work? Isn’t the department worried about you?"

Noah had not seen a single call come for the pair after the first day, which was already suspicious enough. But he had also not seen the pair mention anything about heading back.

Alan smiled at him when he asked this question, and he could already predict the response he was about to get.

"Don’t worry about it. Both of us applied for paid leave, and we will stay with you as long as you need us for. Now, stop thinking about useless things and relax." 𝐟𝑟ⅇ

Alan patted Noah’s head with a reassuring smile on his face, but that did not feel right to Noah.

He liked the fact that the pair was with him, but he also knew that someone else was picking up the slack for them. Moreover...

’Aren’t these two finally together? But so far, all they do is argue and stay away from each other. My presence must be ruining their relationship.’

Considering that this would not be the first time this was happening, Noah let out a sigh and decided to bring this topic up again and often.

After all, the more he brought it up, the more he was sure that Alan and Daniel would act on it.

...

Noah decided to bring up the topic about them going back during lunch that day again. The second Alan’s phone lit up, he decided to bring up the topic of them heading back.

"Is this from your work? Are they in need of you? Then you should head back, right?"

Noah asked, causing Alan to look at him and chuckle.

"Ah, this is just a scam message. I have been getting them a lot for the past few days. It’s not from work, I promise. See!"

To prove his point, Alan unlocked his phone and showed it to Daniel.

Daniel grabbed the phone, and after checking it, it was truly a spam message that asked Alan to subscribe to an app.

Once that was confirmed, Noah handed the phone back to Alan. But he still did not feel reassured that this was right. He suddenly felt like he had been duped.

He looked at Alan again, but the esper just smiled back at him with that same innocent expression on his face.

That was when Noah knew that there was no point in asking him anymore. Alan was not going to tell him anything.

’So I should go to Daniel. He is much more lenient, and he might slip up faster.’

After lunch, he looked up the stairs before he started climbing them.

Daniel had been feeling a little off today, so he had decided not to join them for breakfast. And that had worried Noah a little, so he wanted to check up on Daniel as well.

He opened Daniel’s door before he remembered his manners and knocked first.

There was no reply for a minute, which worried him, and Noah quickly slammed the door open, causing the door to bang loudly.

Daniel’s sleeping body shot up on the bed, and he looked shocked at Noah’s entry. His flushed face and startled expression made him look fragile, and it made Noah feel sorry for him, so he quickly took a step back and bowed in apology.

"I am sorry. I should not have slammed the door open like this. I was just worried—"

"Ah, it’s fine. I am not angry. My sleep was shallow, so I was almost awake when you knocked on the door. Is there anything you need from me?"

Daniel asked as he panted, and he looked up with his flushed eyes filled with fever.

His condition looked bad, especially given the fact that he could not even look where Noah was standing properly.

Noah felt sorry for Daniel, and he forgot all about finding the truth. Instead, he wanted to help Daniel out.

Daniel’s fever-filled eyes looked at Noah, and he tried to flash a smile at him. But his body lost all power, and he went flying backwards, causing Noah to feel worried.

"Hey, are you alright? Daniel—"

The second Noah touched Daniel’s body, he felt his own power weakening. It was as if his guiding was flowing out towards Daniel, and it made him pant.

’What is... going on here...?’

He wanted to ask, but his mouth refused to work properly. Instead, he kept a tight grip on Daniel as his own body started to behave strangely.

He could tell that he was guiding Daniel, but that should not be possible. Daniel was a fellow guide and a highest-grade one at that. There was no need for Noah to guide him.

"Noah, let go of me. Hey, what are you doing? Noah—"

Daniel asked in a panicked voice, suddenly having recovered, and all Noah could do was flash a smile at him.

"I-It is fine... I can handle it... just fine..."

He promised, but it was likely not fine at all. His body felt like it was breaking apart.
