[BL]The Matchmaker Guide Doesn't Want Love
Chapter 156: Ch 156: A Familiar Sight
Noah tried to keep his voice calm, but the slight tremble betrayed how uncomfortable he was becoming. The teacher only laughed as though Noah had said something amusing.
"You are being too sensitive. I am simply telling you the truth."
The teacher stepped closer again, and Noah instinctively moved backwards until his back nearly touched the desk behind him.
"I said no."
For once, Noah’s voice came out much firmer than he expected. His guiding continued to leak from his body, but instead of reaching towards the teacher, it seemed to recoil from him as though even his own power disliked the situation.
The teacher’s smile disappeared for a moment.
Then, almost immediately, it returned.
"Very well. You do not have to decide right now. I will get Student Daniel to sign it—"
He reached towards the contract, but Noah pulled it away before he could take it.
"I will read it first."
Noah folded the contract and placed it inside his bag, refusing to let the teacher see how badly his hands were shaking. He was not happy, but he could not allow Daniel to get involved in this.
He had already learned that accepting something without understanding it was dangerous, especially when the person offering it seemed far too interested in his guiding.
The teacher watched him carefully before finally stepping aside.
"Of course. Take your time, Student Noah. I hope you will come to the right conclusion."
Something about those words made Noah feel even more uneasy. Was he truly making the right decision?
That piece of paper he put in his bag felt like a ticking time bomb. It had the Labs written all over it, and Noah wanted to ignore it this time as well.
But unfortunately, there was no way out of this dangerous situation for him. Mostly because he knew that if it was not him, then it would be Alan or Daniel. And he refused to let them get involved.
"I will be going now."
Noah did not linger around after this and headed outside. He looked around for Alan or Daniel, but the pair was nowhere to be found.
It left Noah with a bitter taste in his mouth, and he could not help but complain about the situation to himself.
"Those two promised that they would wait for me outside and come running if I needed help. But where did they go?"
It was clear that neither Daniel nor Alan had stuck around for long. They had likely left to do something important. Otherwise, they would not have left him alone.
But knowing this in his mind and his heart was different. Noah could not help but feel a sense of loss at being left all alone.
SLAP
"This is enough. Stop moping around. You knew this was going to happen sooner or later. For now, I better go and visit Erin. He might be sicker than I expected."
Noah’s heart felt heavy after seeing that Alan and Daniel were not around and that they had not waited for him. But there was no time to feel sorry for himself when he had so much work left to do.
...
Meanwhile, the duo that had been waiting for Noah to come out was busy tracking down their professor, who had rushed past them quickly.
He had been in such a hurry that he did not even notice Alan or Daniel, who noticed the panic in his expression.
"Daniel, I have a feeling this professor knows something. We should follow him."
Alan whispered as his eyes narrowed. Daniel understood why he was saying this since he got the same feeling from their professor...
But Noah was still inside, and he did not want to leave him alone. What if Noah needed help?
His eyes unconsciously looked at the door with a sour expression, causing Alan to let out a sigh of regret.
"I understand how you feel. Then, how about we do this separately? You wait here for Noah, and I will head to that teacher and have a ’chat’ with him?"
Alan asked, but Daniel’s instincts told him not to leave Alan alone either. He was caught between a sense of duty and his instincts.
"I don’t think we should chase after that teacher. Let’s wait for Noah here and spend some time together..."
But as soon as Alan said that, he watched another teacher walk past him in the same manner, and then another.
It became evidently clear that something big was going on here.
"You still have no desire to check out what is happening?"
Alan asked, and Daniel let out a frustrated sigh. Even he was starting to think that they should look into this matter a little more.
"Fine! Let me send Noah a text telling him where we are and what we are doing."
He let out a frustrated sigh before shooting Noah a message about their future tasks. He sent it and then followed after Alan.
But Daniel’s message was never sent out due to the interference in the signal inside the academy.
What they did not realise was the fact that an experiment had already started. The Labs had already made their move.
Unknowingly, the pair rushed after their professors and headed towards the underground semi-constructed lab.
The walls were covered in high-class test-tube chambers, with a lot of computers monitoring the progress inside those empty tube chambers.
It did not look familiar, but it felt familiar.
Both Daniel and Alan were hit with a sense of déjà vu as soon as they stepped inside, and they clutched their heads.
"What is going on? My head feels like it’s on fire..."
Daniel complained as he felt his mind trying to flash memories across his mind. But those memories slipped away as soon as he tried to access them.
Alan was in the same boat.
"This place feels familiar. Is this...the lab?"
He asked as he looked around with an unsteady gaze. He did not want to recall the memories that were flashing inside his mind since they made him feel sick.
"We...need to get out of here before we get even sicker—"
But the door opened, and someone entered before Alan could finish speaking.
