Chapter 140: Ch 140: A Sweet Smell

Daniel usually did not pick up Alan’s phone, but this time his instincts told him that he should. So he reached out to take his ringing phone.

"Hello—"

"Noah needs you in the medical wing, so hurry up and come here."

Alan’s voice sounded calm and business-like for the most part, but there was a hint of panic in it that made Daniel hurry up as well.

He changed his clothes and forwent his bath to get to the medical wing. All this time, he could not help but think just what kind of emergency was taking place for Alan to call him of all people.

’Oh no! Has something happened to Noah? Is he alright? I better go and check up on him—’

Daniel quickly reached the medical wing, and the first thing he noticed was the sweet smell coming from inside. It was so intoxicating that it even made him lose his mind.

By the time he realized what was happening, he had already stepped inside, and he was looking at his surroundings with a shocked expression.

Alan was leaning against the bathroom door, half out of his mind.

"What is going on—"

"It’s Noah. Something is wrong with him. His guiding is out of control, and I cannot control myself around him. So I need you to take care of him right now."

Alan gritted his teeth as he said that. The poor esper was red in the face because of trying to control himself.

Daniel understood his discomfort. If he could sense the guiding in the air as a guide, then he did not want to think how bad it was for an esper to sense it and not be able to do anything.

But Alan had too much patience as he somehow managed to regain his control and speak even in such a condition where all he wanted to do was break down the door in front of him and get to Noah.

"I... understand. I will take care of this. You should get out of here before you suffer anymore."

Daniel pointed out, and Alan nodded. But when he tried to move, his legs gave out, and he fell flat on his ass.

He seemed to be having a hard time moving, but he still somehow made it across the medical wing on shaky legs. He also grabbed Professor Riku and took him out.

"I will keep everyone else away, so make sure you stay with Noah. He must be just as shocked and confused as you are feeling right now."

Alan pointed out, and with a tense mouth, he dragged the professor out as well.

Daniel locked the door as soon as the two exited, and then he turned towards the bathroom door and knocked softly.

"Noah, are you in there? Can you talk to me? I need to know that you are fine."

Daniel asked as he tried to check up on Noah. But Noah gave him no answers, which worried him.

Was the other guide even fine inside?

"Noah—"

He tried again, and this time, there was a small sound of pain.

"I... am fine... I think... this will... pass..."

Noah’s voice was so soft that it was a miracle he was even able to hear anything. But he was beyond grateful to know that Noah was alive at least.

Daniel pressed his back against the door and let out a sigh.

"That’s good. But if you need me, then I am here. So rely on me—"

The door opened a little, and Noah looked at Daniel’s face before throwing his body against the other guide.

Daniel was caught off guard, but he quickly spread his arms around to catch Noah.

"Noah—"

"I am sorry, but can you hold me for just a minute? This will pass soon. But I just need someone to keep me grounded for a minute." ℯ

He told Daniel, who nodded at him and tightened his arms around Noah’s body.

Despite the circumstances, Daniel could not help but take advantage of the situation. He was even enjoying this a little.

’This is so messed up. Here Noah is suffering, and I cannot help but enjoy it. I have such a dirty mind.’

But despite Daniel’s complaints, he could feel Noah pressing closer to him, and it was starting to get him excited. But alas, Noah pulled away before anything could happen.

Noah could feel Daniel’s growing excitement, which made him sigh and pull away. He could feel the overwhelming feeling slowly dying down from inside, and his fever was starting to break as well.

It finally seemed like the effects of the drug that had been given to him were starting to fade. His body finally started to feel lighter, and he let out a sigh.

"Noah, are you feeling better now?"

Daniel asked in a nervous voice, and Noah nodded at him.

"Yes, I am fine. You can let me go now."

Noah pushed a little against Daniel’s chest to indicate that he was ready to be let go, but Daniel did not let him go.

Instead, he pulled Noah’s head tighter against his chest.

"It is fine. You can rest a little more against me. I don’t mind."

He reassured Noah, who was too tired to say anything to him. All he could do was close his eyes and let his body rest.

Noah did not mean to fall asleep, but after what happened, his body just needed some rest and recovery time. So he closed his eyes and fell asleep.

But this time, it was a peaceful sleep, which made Daniel let out a chuckle.

"That’s good. You should rest after what happened. Hopefully, this will be a good sign of things to come."

Daniel whispered with a lighter heart as he put Noah back on the bed.

Like this, Noah looked so innocent. It almost looked like nothing could touch him or cause him harm. But Daniel knew that it was not true. Things could cause Noah harm, and it was up to him to help keep Noah safe.

But he was not the only one with this mindset. In Erin’s room, he was dealing with his own circumstances.
