Chapter 137 - 137: Snake Queen Event

It is known that dungeons are locations that do not change, each time you enter a dungeon you will see the same events with some smaller dungeons known to start you in the same location every single time.

The only time a dungeon might differ from the norm would be when a powerful creature's behavior changes in a drastic way.

Sometimes a creature such as a miniboss or a boss of a dungeon will act according to instincts rather than their standard behavior set by the dungeon, these are called dungeon events.

There is no way to predict a dungeon event nor is there a way to predict the rewards until the dungeon event is near completion.

If you are confident in your knowledge of a dungeon creature and what behavior may change during an event, feel free to push your luck!

Each leap and slide around the snake kept Ezekiel watching the beast for the right opening to launch all of his floating needles while he attacked it from the front.

Some attacks would nick the scales of the creature but the agility and flexibility of this snake was just too high for his attack speed.

When he saw the snake was surrounded by the needles and pinned down by his attacks he finally unleashed his spells.

The snake was forced to avoid the spells from the front while trying to twist enough to avoid the other needles, the blows that landed cut away large chunks of HP until he saw the perfect chance.

The snake hissing in pain twisted to snap at the snakes around itself and try to consome, this moment had opened a blind spot for him to dash forward and slash the serpent across the back of the neck before it had the chance to move away.

When he finally killed the snake and gained a large amount of progress he lept into the air to continue following the snakes.

As he was flying above the snakes and picking off the weaker ones just like before Ezekiel kept his eyes in the direction of the horde movement.

The area the snakes had been heading towards appeared to be a massive, fog covered lake of potent poison mana.

He did not recognize this lake compared to the location of the boss but he got curious as he saw more of the lake.

When seeing the snakes swarming more than before as the whole ground was carpeted by them he grinned, the area was so heavily infested that he started to throw Frenzied Void Novas.

Dozens of snakes were slain all at once while he made a note of every high progress snake in the area.

The snakes kept their distance from their high progress brethren but he saw the low progress snakes still fighting one another like a ravenous horde of starving beasts.

The poison mana in their bodies grew with each absorption until he noticed the elites with nearly full progress bars were growing even more potent than the lake itself.

'Is this why they did this whole swarm? They're growing so rapidly.'

As he hit the seventy-five percent stage he realized that snakes below the fifty percent mark could not give him any additional progress.

He targeted the elite enemies from so far above that he worried his accuracy would suffer, he aimed at fighting snakes and launched Novas below while absorbing mana at a ravenous rate to keep up with my void mana consumption.

His blasts weakened each snake in their fights while he allowed the shadow fire to spread across the weak snakes.

His progress climbed higher and higher with each snake above the fifty percent mark granting him an additional percent until he reached the ninety percent mark.

When his progress hit ninety he saw a total end of growth with every elite giving him nothing until he spotted a coiled up snake with the same milestone.

This elite was massive compared to the rest, massive and full of potent poison mana that made it glow in his mana sight.

With a cast of Frenzied Void Star the snake was damaged so heavily that it died from damage over time but the consequence was thay his mana had drained almost completely.

His progress grew by another one percent from this kill and when flying to the next creature he saw he made sure to absorb as much mana as possible.

The next elite he saw was very similar to a cobra as long and thick as a pine tree, a tree that was fighting with another snake just like the previous coiled one.

He hovered high above to make sure he was out of reach while absorbing mana as quickly as he could and during this time he observed the fight.

The cobra mixed venom spray attacks and magical spells like a strange chain spell that kept the other snake restricted in movement until it broke free.

He saw that the locations the chains had dug into the snake had burned deep grooves across it's sizzling flesh as the beast shrieked with rage before attacking the cobra.

With his mana nearing full he began to cast a Frenzied Void Star to take both out at once.

'I almost feel bad butting in on their brutal duel... eh they're just snakes why am I kidding myself.'

He let the star fall upon those targets while forcefully drawing mana back to himself to recover from it just like before.

The star fell between them just as the cobra moved to avoid a strike from the scarred snake, the snake itself practically catching the star on it's own head when it blew the whole area apart.

The cobra had been heavily damaged and the other snake died almost instantly due to how the snake was struck, he used nova spells to whittle away the HP of the cobra but now that the creature only had the mage to battle it cast spells targeting him in the air.

He was able to avoid the projectiles and he flew so far that he assumed he was out of range of the Poison chains.

That was until he felt the burning pain of chains around his wings which kept his moment heavily restricted and only his mana boosted flight allowing him to stay above.

He created over a dozen needles in a single volley while he kept launching novas until he was using mana faster than he was absorbing it.

The poison spells started to hit him due to how slow he had become from the poison chains and his claws desperately slashed at the chains to destroy them.

His wing membranes were melting slowly which only made him more desperate from the pain.

When looking back down at the cobra he saw it was very low, nearly dead.

Nearly dead but the natural regeneration of it's body was starting to repair the damage of the burn effect.

His HP was draining below half while the spells he used on the cobra were just to prevent it from killing him.

'This was reckless, I need to keep the fights going between other snakes until I can kill them both in one star.'

His spells finally killed the cobra with nearly all of his hp gone.

He flew higher into the air and allowed his regeneration to slowly restore his HP as his mana regenerated in a very slow way.

The next battle he saw was between a cobra and some strange viper with horns above it's eyes.

The two beasts launched strange spells and snapped at eachother like they were truly starving for the mana of the other.

Hisses and bites snapping loudly like a cracking tree, spells that melted the nearby plants and ground into a slurry of toxic sludge.

The viper covered it's body in razor sharp mana constructs like blades, the tail slashing at the body of the cobra while the cobra cast multiple chains to restrict the viper.

'Those chains are very useful, I know that if I were to use a spell like that the Frenzied Void element would melt through targets far faster.'

When he finally looked to other snakes nearby he realized that there were more who had gotten to the ninety percent milestone as well as many going beyond his ninety-two percent.

He saw his mana and HP nearing full due to staying out of combat so he got ready to swipe the kills of the cobra and viper.

With a charged cast of Frenzied Void Star dropped between the two snapping beasts his progress grew to ninety-four percent.

'If these creatures weren't so desperate to beat one another I might have been in much more danger than before.'

The next targets were getting just as low as the previous, two massive constrictors trying to squeeze eachother to death but tangling into a ball instead while they bit into eachother with savage hatred.

He watched them fight as he regenerated until he saw another snake nearly maxing out their bar and this made him hurry to slay that beast.
