Bloodbound Codex: I Grow Stronger in Secret
Chapter 351: Extremely Simple
Atlas went silent after hearing her words, his expression remaining calm as he looked at Seraphiel’s embarrassed face. A small smile formed on his lips as he watched her struggle to maintain her composure, and he spoke after a brief moment, "I love you, Sera."
The moment those words reached her ears, Seraphiel felt as though an invisible arrow had pierced her heart, filling it with a warmth that spread throughout her chest. Her cheeks flushed even more as she looked at Atlas’s smiling face, finding it difficult to contain the happiness she felt.
’H-He finally said it!!’ Seraphiel screamed in her mind before moving instinctively, pressing her lips against Atlas’s without giving herself any time to think. Atlas raised an eyebrow slightly at her sudden reaction, but he soon closed his eyes and reciprocated her kiss, holding her close as he kissed her deeply.
Seraphiel’s eyes widened when she felt his response, but she soon relaxed and returned his kiss, keeping her arms around his neck as she stayed close to him.
For a long moment, the two remained like that high up in the sky, neither of them showing any intention of separating from the other. Only after about five whole minutes did they finally pull away, and Seraphiel looked at Atlas with an excited expression before speaking, "A-Atlas, with this we are not just a couple anymore! We are now Fiancé and Fiancée!"
Atlas looked at her enthusiasm and smiled even more, finding her reaction amusing as he replied, "You mean we are one stage away from marriage now?"
Seraphiel nodded hurriedly, her hands still wrapped around his neck while his arms remained around her back and waist. The two fell silent again as they continued looking into each other’s eyes, their smiles remaining as they enjoyed the moment together.
After a while, Atlas finally broke the silence and asked, "It is your Birthday right? First let me give you a birthday gift, Sera." Seraphiel raised an eyebrow at his words before responding in a slightly embarrassed voice, "N-No, You don’t have to do that, I already recieved the best gift-"
Before she could finish her sentence, Atlas interrupted her, his smile remaining as he explained, "I want to give you a gift other than our engagement which would have happened regardless." As he finished speaking, he removed his right hand from her waist and raised it in front of them.
In the next moment, he snapped his fingers, and a small white feather appeared in his hand, its appearance almost identical to the feathers of Seraphiel’s wings.
"When I had first realized that I really loved you, I had thought of your beautiful appearance to be your own as I had nothing to compare it to anything." Atlas paused for a moment before extending his hand toward Seraphiel’s hair, causing her to look at him with a curious expression. He then continued, "And just now when I thought of what to give you as a gift, it occurred to me that it should be something that reminds me of you."
"But...that’s not all it should be, should it? That’s why I thought it should be also something that is already a part of you. After all, only then could it remind me of you right?" Atlas finished, looking at Seraphiel with a small smile as he held the feather in his hand. He waited for her reaction, allowing her to look at the gift before explaining anything further.
Seraphiel blinked as she looked at the small white feather resting in Atlas’s hand, noticing how closely its color resembled the feathers of her wings. There was nothing particularly special about its appearance, and it looked extremely simple for a gift.
However, knowing that Atlas had chosen it specifically for her made her heart beat faster, and she continued looking at it for a moment before slowly raising her eyes to meet his.
"Should I put it here?" Atlas asked, raising his hand toward the left side of her head, just above her blue floral ornament. Seraphiel’s cheeks flushed again as she understood what he meant, and she nodded without saying anything, unable to hide the smile forming on her face.
Atlas gently moved a few strands of her silver hair aside before carefully tucking the feather into place, taking care not to disturb the ornament that was already in her hair.
After finishing, Atlas moved his hand away and looked at her for a moment, checking how the feather looked against her silver hair. "Hmm, It looks good on you!" Seraphiel instinctively raised her hand to touch the feather, her fingertips brushing against its soft surface as she felt another wave of happiness.
A smile slowly spread across her face, and she looked back at Atlas with her blue eyes filled with joy before leaning forward and hugging him tightly, wrapping her arms around him again.
After a moment, Seraphiel pulled away as something came to her mind, and she looked at Atlas with a smile. "Atlas, as you said that we will celebrate our birthday together on this same day, how about I give you a gift as well? Hehe."
Atlas looked at her smiling face and nodded immediately, accepting her offer without hesitation. "Alright," he replied, waiting to see what she had prepared for him.
Seraphiel removed both her hands from his neck and brought them closer to her chest before closing her eyes. "Do you know something Atlas? When I first realized that I loved you, I had thought of what to give you as a gift if possible from that same moment."
She paused as a faint glow appeared around both her hands, and after a brief moment, her right eye snapped open, causing the symbols carved inside her pupils to glow along with it. Atlas watched her movements quietly, waiting for her to finish preparing whatever she intended to give him.
"And when I put my thought into it carefully, I realized I don’t need to give you a relic, an Artifact or the likes. I realized that If I can give you the gift from the bottom of my heart, that will be the best decision." Seraphiel paused again, and the glow surrounding her hands and eye gradually vanished as she finished speaking.
She then opened both her eyes and extended her hands toward Atlas, revealing a white ribbon resting in her palms as she looked at him with a happy expression.
"I wanted to put a ribbon on you which will always remind you of me, while this feather reminds me of you." Atlas looked at the white ribbon in her hands and nodded as he understood the meaning behind her gift. "I see, I never thought about it that way but its an excellent idea and..."
He paused as he carefully examined the ribbon she had prepared for him, taking a moment to appreciate its appearance before continuing, "...It is beautiful."
Atlas immediately extended the back of his left hand toward her, allowing her to tie the ribbon around his wrist herself. Seraphiel smiled as she began tying it, her cheeks flushing red again as she carefully wrapped the ribbon around his wrist and secured it in place.
Once she finished, she removed her hands, and both of them looked at the ribbon for a moment before nodding in satisfaction. They then moved closer and hugged each other again, keeping their arms around one another as they remained together in the sky.
