Chapter 505: The Parasitic Thermodynamics

The Category 5 monsoon continued to violently assault the invisible electromagnetic perimeter of the Pacific atoll. Outside the Baffle Dome, the world was a deafening, apocalyptic wasteland of roaring, hundred-and-sixty-mile-per-hour winds and towering rogue waves that shattered against the coral reef.

Inside the dome, it was a perfectly curated, softly lit spring evening. The lethal sheets of rain were electronically atomized into a gentle, cinematic mist that drifted lazily through the open-air mahogany lounge, while the catastrophic gale was baffled into a cool, refreshing breeze.

In the center of the sprawling pavilion, the Maestro of Momentum lay perfectly horizontal on the massive, suspended sea-silk daybed. Alex Turner was swathed in a loose, deep-indigo bamboo-fiber tunic and flowing linen trousers. His impenetrable stare was fixed lazily on the violent storm raging just fifty yards away, completely insulated from the chaos.

Because the ambient temperature of the lounge had naturally dropped to accommodate the mist, a predictable, highly biological phenomenon had occurred.

The Harem Council had instinctively migrated.

Like glamorous, highly insured reptiles seeking a heat lamp, the women had abandoned their individual cabanas and clustered tightly around Alex. Jennifer Aniston was curled against his left side, her blonde hair resting on his collarbone. Angelina Jolie was draped across his right arm, while Salma Hayek and Shakira had successfully tangled their legs over his calves. It was a dense, overlapping puzzle of sheer resort wear and seeking limbs.

For forty-five minutes, the arrangement functioned as a flawless, silent ecosystem.

Then, the psychological friction of the Hollywood elite flared to life.

Angelina opened one eye, her sharp, calculating gaze drifting from the terrifying storm outside to the utterly unbothered billionaire she was currently using as a pillow. A wicked, rebellious spark ignited in her chest.

"We are enabling him," Angelina whispered into the quiet, mist-kissed air.

Jennifer shifted slightly, keeping her eyes closed. "Do not start a revolution, Angie. I am perfectly comfortable, and I refuse to move."

"Think about it, Jen," Angelina purred, gracefully unspooling her legs and sitting up, instantly breaking the thermal seal. "He refused to evacuate to a bunker. He refused to acknowledge the hurricane. And now, because the Baffle Dome has chilled the air, we have voluntarily formed a human blanket over him. We are actively subsidizing his body heat. We are rewarding his laziness with our own thermal output."

Salma blinked, sitting up and pulling her crimson wrap tighter around her shoulders as a cool breeze drifted over the deck. "Wait. She is right. We are acting as his insulation! He is using us to avoid asking Elias for a heavier duvet!"

Alex did not turn his head. He let out a slow, resonant exhale that carried the profound spiritual fatigue of a man forced to explain basic biology to a room full of dramatic artists.

"Insulation implies that I require external assistance to maintain my core temperature, Salma," Alex drawled softly, his deep baritone harmonizing with the distant, muffled thunder. "That is a fundamental misunderstanding of mammalian thermodynamics."

"You cannot logic your way out of this one, Mr. CEO," Angelina declared, her competitive instincts fully engaged. She looked at the other women. "I am proposing a localized strike. The Thermal Boycott. We withdraw our body heat. We retreat to our own loungers. If he wants to stay warm in this mist, he has to physically stand up, walk to the master suite, and fetch his own blanket."

"A mutiny!" Shakira cheered, immediately scrambling off Alex’s legs and shivering slightly as the cool air hit her bare skin. "Yes! We starve him of warmth until he performs manual labor!"

Gillian Anderson, who had been lounging on a nearby ottoman, let out a husky, breathless laugh. "You are playing a very dangerous game with a man who considers walking to be an orthopedic tragedy."

"Join the strike, Gillian!" Courteney Cox urged, pulling Jennifer away from Alex’s side despite the blonde actress’s protests.

Within seconds, the Maestro of Momentum was left entirely, horribly isolated in the center of the massive daybed. The cool, atomized mist drifted over his exposed bamboo-fiber tunic.

The women stood in a semicircle a few feet away, crossing their arms and shivering slightly in their thin silk wraps, waiting for the inevitable moment when the billionaire would be forced to concede to the cold and stand up.

Alex lay perfectly still. His midnight irises locked onto the vaulted ceiling. He did not shiver. He did not frown. He simply steepled his fingers over his stomach.

"A boycott," Alex lectured seamlessly, his voice a flat, unyielding drone of pure peace, "requires the withholding of a necessary resource. You are operating under the delusion that you are the radiator. You are not the radiator. You are the thermal parasites."

Angelina’s jaw dropped. "Parasites?!"

"Let us examine the physics of the human metabolism," Alex continued, utterly unfazed by the icy glares directed at him. "My physical mass is significantly greater than yours. Furthermore, my biological engine recently processed a highly concentrated payload of molecular Wagyu marrow and Beluga caviar. My digestive system is currently torching those complex lipids, converting them directly into a massive, internal furnace of clean kinetic energy. I am a walking, or rather, a resting, thermal reactor."

"You are just saying big words to hide the fact that you are cold," Salma accused, her teeth chattering very faintly.

"I am perfectly regulated," Alex countered flawlessly. "You, however, possess lower body mass and are currently wearing sheer, breathable silk designed for a tropical afternoon, not a monsoon-chilled evening. You did not cluster around me to keep me warm. You clustered around me because you were freezing, and you subconsciously migrated toward the nearest, most efficient heat source."

"He’s bluffing," Shakira whispered to Jennifer, rubbing her own arms. "Do not break the line."

"If you believe I am bluffing," Alex murmured, a slow, predatory smirk pulling at the corners of his mouth. He didn’t even raise his voice. "Elias."

Commander Thorne stepped instantly from the shadows of the service corridor, his posture immaculate in his dark slate tactical turtleneck. "Sir."

"The Council believes they possess thermal leverage," Alex dictated softly. "They require a practical demonstration of their own vulnerability. Override the ambient climate control. Drop the temperature within the Baffle Dome by an additional five degrees."

Thorne did not hesitate. He tapped his telemetry pad. "Executing thermal drop, sir."

Instantly, the gentle, refreshing breeze sweeping through the pavilion turned distinctly, undeniably frigid. The atomized mist from the monsoon outside suddenly felt like a damp, icy fog.

The women gasped collectively.

"Are you insane?!" Courteney shrieked, wrapping her arms tightly around her torso as goosebumps erupted across her skin. "It’s freezing!"

"I am merely letting the atmosphere serve as the judge, Court," Alex reasoned smoothly. He lay perfectly relaxed, his optimized metabolic furnace easily repelling the ambient chill. He didn’t even pull his collar closed. "You initiated a strike. I am simply raising the stakes. You may stand there in the cold and preserve your pride, or you may accept your biological reality, return to the Prime Meridian, and harvest my body heat."

"Do not move!" Angelina ordered through chattering teeth, glaring at the other women. "If we go back, he wins forever! He will never fetch a blanket again!"

"He has never fetched a blanket in his entire life, Angie," Gillian pointed out, her husky voice trembling slightly from the cold.

They lasted exactly forty-two seconds.

Jennifer Aniston broke first. "I don’t care about the revolution," she whimpered, practically diving across the teakwood deck. She scrambled back onto the sea-silk daybed, desperately wedging herself directly under Alex’s left arm, instantly pressing her freezing cheek against the warm, solid heat of his chest. "Oh my god, you are a furnace. I surrender. I completely surrender."

"Traitor!" Salma yelled, but the sight of Jennifer instantly thawing out completely shattered her resolve. Salma abandoned her post, lunging onto the mattress and frantically wrapping herself around Alex’s legs. "Move over, Jen! I need access to his calves!"

Within moments, the entire thermal strike collapsed in a spectacular, humiliating cascade of shivering divas. Shakira, Courteney, and Monica scrambled back onto the bed, shamelessly fighting for proximity to his torso.

Angelina was the last one standing. She stood at the edge of the mattress, shivering violently in her sheer wrap, glaring down at the utterly relaxed billionaire who was now, once again, entirely buried under a mountain of beautiful women.

"You weaponized your own metabolism," Angelina accused, her voice shaking with cold and profound, defeated amusement.

"I simply allowed physics to dictate the terms of the negotiation, Angie," Alex murmured, his impenetrable stare meeting hers. "Pride is a terrible insulator. Come down here before you catch a chill. Shivering is a tragic expenditure of caloric energy."

Angelina let out a sharp, breathless laugh, admitting total defeat. She dropped onto the mattress, seamlessly sliding into the narrow space on his right side, instantly sighing as the intense, radiating heat of his optimized biology warmed her freezing skin.

"Commander," Alex drawled lazily into the quiet, mist-filled pavilion. "The mutiny has been pacified. Restore the ambient temperature to a civilized sixty-eight degrees."

"Right away, sir," Thorne replied, tapping his pad before retreating back into the shadows.

Surrounded by the heavily defeated, fiercely clinging members of his inner circle, the Maestro of Momentum sank deeper into the plush daybed. The monsoon raged fruitlessly against the invisible dome outside, but inside, the ecosystem had returned to absolute, unyielding harmony. He had crushed a labor strike, re-established his dominance, and secured his human insulation, all without ever lifting his head from the pillow.
