Chapter 447: Rogue Mixology Orb

"Victory through attrition, Gillian," Alex murmured, finally allowing a slow, victorious smirk to pull at his lips beneath the absurd ruffled collar. "Now, please refrain from further physical hostility. My scheduled afternoon stasis is long overdue, and I refuse to argue with the laws of physics."

Gillian rolled her eyes, tapping Angelina’s arm to signal a tactical retreat.

Before the room could fully settle back into silence, a sharp, erratic buzzing sound echoed from the hallway. The spherical, silver mixology drone zipped back into the living area, but its previously smooth, majestic flight path was completely gone. It was currently zigzagging through the air, executing aggressive, completely unnecessary barrel rolls.

"Nephew," Snoop warned, taking a very slow, deliberate step backward. "I think the machine got into its own inventory."

Jennifer sank lower, hiding half her face behind a throw pillow. "I installed a software patch ten minutes ago," she confessed, trying and failing to suppress a giggle. "I wanted it to learn flair bartending. You know, flipping bottles, catching shakers behind the back. I uploaded a digital package of Tom Cruise from Cocktail."

Alex sighed, the sound echoing hollowly under his wide-brimmed hat. "Injecting the chaotic, performative desperation of a flair bartender into a precision machine is a catastrophic error in judgment, Jen. Flair bartending is just juggling with a high probability of property damage."

The drone whirred aggressively, halting in mid-air. It aimed its sterilized nozzle directly at Courteney and fired a rapid-burst, chaotic stream of iced margarita.

Courteney shrieked, rolling frantically to her left. The liquid splashed harmlessly against the floor where she had just been lying. "Turn it off! It’s hostile!"

"I can’t!" Jennifer laughed, ducking to avoid a rogue, high-velocity squirt of cranberry juice that shot over her head. "It’s programmed to maximize entertainment value before dispensing!"

The erratic sphere spun around, its internal sensors locking onto the center of the room. It calculated its trajectory.

"Alex, move!" Angelina yelled, scrambling to put Keanu between herself and the rogue machine. Keanu, for his part, did not flinch, simply watching the drone with deep, philosophical interest.

Alex remained perfectly still. He did not brace himself. He did not flinch.

"Evasion is a concession to fear," Alex stated calmly, his voice a flat, unyielding monotone. "If I dodge, I validate the machine’s aggressive behavior. Furthermore, rolling out of the way requires a sudden, violent contraction of the abdominal muscles. I will not perform a crunch to avoid a beverage."

The drone fired a high-pressure, continuous stream of iced mojito directly at his face.

The liquid hit the wide straw brim of the sombrero perfectly, cascading off the woven edges like a miniature waterfall, spilling onto the floor and entirely missing his skin.

Alex lay motionless beneath the deluge.

"As I previously stated," Alex murmured, his voice echoing dryly from within the sanctuary of the hat, "this accessory provides excellent environmental shielding. I am entirely impervious to your automated cocktail assault."

Monica burst into laughter, clapping her hands together. "You are utilizing a prank hat as a tactical umbrella. That is peak shamelessness."

"It is basic fluid dynamics, Monica," Alex corrected. "The slope of the brim mathematically diverts the liquid away from my face. I am completely dry, and I burned zero calories achieving this victory."

The drone, seemingly confused by the lack of a successful delivery, hovered in place, emitting a low, frustrated electronic beep.

Keanu stepped forward slowly, raising a hand toward the hovering sphere in a gesture of profound peace. "It just wants to serve, Alex. It is burdened by the glorious purpose of hospitality, but it lacks an audience willing to receive its gifts."

"Then redirect its purpose, Keanu," Alex instructed. "Give it a target that requires hydration but cannot run away."

Keanu nodded wisely. He pointed toward a large, decorative potted fern resting in the corner of the patio. "Vanguard AI. Reroute target. The fern requires a double shot of sparkling water. Heavy on the lime."

The drone whirred, recalibrated its sensors, and zoomed over to the fern, immediately dousing the soil with a flawless, arching stream of water, finishing the pour with a celebratory mid-air flip.

"Look at that," Snoop chuckled, nodding in approval. "We got a robotic gardener now. The ecosystem is healing."

"Crisis averted," Jennifer sighed, finally lowering her pillow. "I will delete the Tom Cruise patch immediately."

"Please do," Alex replied. "His entire cinematic identity is built on unnecessary sprinting and frantic arm movements. Uploading his methodology into our infrastructure is treason."

Gillian leaned over, inspecting the completely dry space under Alex’s hat. "You really didn’t get a single drop on you. I was hoping the ruffles would get soaked so you’d be forced to take them off."

"Spite is a powerful motivator, Gillian, but it cannot overcome the structural integrity of a highly starched collar," Alex pointed out. "Now, since the threat of airborne tequila has been neutralized, I expect absolute silence for the next forty-five minutes."

"Not going to happen," Mariah chimed in, scrolling rapidly through the tactical tablet. "Because while you were fighting off a rogue bartender, I accessed the AI’s audio synthesis module. I decided we needed a new soundtrack for the afternoon."

"Mary, if you play anything that exceeds sixty beats per minute, I will personally deduct it from your next album’s marketing budget," Alex threatened mildly.

"Relax, it’s highly educational," Mariah grinned, tapping the screen.

Suddenly, a smooth, heavily synthesized voice echoed through the room’s speakers. It was a flawless replication of a famously intense, highly aggressive British celebrity chef’s voice, but the volume was locked at a gentle, soothing murmur.

"Listen to me," the digital chef whispered tenderly. "You are doing an absolutely phenomenal job. You haven’t moved your legs in three hours. That takes sheer, unadulterated commitment. Do not let anyone tell you to stand up. You are a masterpiece of inertia."

Angelina clutched her stomach, howling with laughter. "You made him record affirmations?!"

"He used to scream at people for undercooking scallops," Mariah laughed proudly. "Now he just whispers validations about how good we are at doing nothing."

"Look at that posture," the digital voice continued to murmur softly. "Absolutely brilliant lack of spinal engagement. Ten out of ten. Do not reach for the remote. Let the universe handle it."

Alex let out a low, satisfied hum. "Finally, a culinary professional who understands the assignment. Leave the broadcast on, Mary. It is highly encouraging."
