Blood on the Canvas, Gold on the Screen
Chapter 429: Cashmere Car Wash
Chapter 426 : Cashmere Car Wash
The Slacker King sank deeper into the espresso linen, entirely content to let the world continue awarding his absolute inertia.
For a man who had systematically dismantled the global entertainment industry without ever elevating his heart rate, the passage of time inside the Trousdale Estates fortress had become beautifully, delightfully irrelevant. The afternoon simply melted into a deep, cinematic twilight, undisturbed by call sheets, paparazzi flashes, or the frantic, desperate clamor of Hollywood egos.
The profound silence of the living room was eventually broken by a soft, synchronized, magnetic hum drifting down the teakwood hallway.
The heavy, soundproof double doors slid open with a gentle pneumatic hiss.
Returning from their maiden voyage through the ’Horizontal Wardrobe Conveyor’ were Angelina Jolie and Mariah Carey. They were not walking. They were gliding in on the massive, low-profile magnetic levitation cushions that Snoop Dogg and Keanu Reeves had commandeered earlier that morning.
However, their physical states had been entirely transformed. They were completely, flawlessly swathed from neck to toe in thick, heated, brilliantly white Loro Piana cashmere towels. The robotic arms in the West Wing had wrapped them so securely and so perfectly that they resembled a pair of impossibly glamorous, highly sedated caterpillars. Only their faces and bare toes were visible.
Angelina steered her hover-cushion with a small joystick held precariously between her thumb and index finger—the only digits she had allowed to escape the cashmere cocoon. She executed a slow, lazy arc across the pristine terrazzo floor, parking her levitating bed directly parallel to the edge of the fourteen-by-fourteen-foot espresso linen megalith.
"Alex," Angelina breathed, her dark eyes wide with a mixture of sheer disbelief and absolute, chemically pure euphoria. She didn’t attempt to sit up. She didn’t even attempt to free her arms. "I am never using my limbs again. The era of the upper body is officially over."
Alex did not open his obsidian eyes. He simply let out a low, resonant hum of approval.
"The human arm is a flawed, inefficient lever system, Angie," Alex drawled lazily, his head resting comfortably against Gillian Anderson’s thigh. "It requires the constant engagement of the rotator cuff to combat gravity. By allowing the machine to swaddle you in heated fabric, you have achieved a state of absolute, frictionless bliss. Welcome to the baseline."
Mariah Carey glided her cushion to a halt on the opposite side of the pit, letting out a long, theatrical sigh. "The steam tunnel smelled like crushed eucalyptus and billionaire apathy. I literally fell asleep on the conveyor belt and woke up dressed. If Tommy Mottola knew this technology existed, he would cry himself to sleep."
Gillian Anderson, looking down at Alex from her incredibly comfortable vantage point, let out a soft, husky laugh. She had spent the last twenty-four hours marveling at the utter absurdity of her new reality. She gently ran her fingers through Alex’s dark hair, completely indifferent to the fact that her critically acclaimed television show had just been algorithmically overwritten by a digital rendering of herself.
"So, Angie," Gillian purred, her eyes dancing with shameless amusement. "You’re permanently wrapped in a luxury towel. How exactly do you plan on seducing the CEO of Tyrant Group if you refuse to engage your upper body?"
Angelina blinked, her fierce, captivating features shifting into a pout of pure, unadulterated laziness. She looked at Alex, who was perfectly nestled between Gillian, Jennifer Aniston, and Monica Bellucci.
"That is a severe logistical flaw in my current stasis," Angelina admitted, her voice dropping into a sultry, teasing whisper. "Alex. I demand a zero-exertion romantic protocol. I want to kiss you, but leaning my torso forward off this hover-pad requires engaging my abdominal core. Abdominal crunches are a tragedy. How do we solve this without breaking a sweat?"
Alex finally opened his dark eyes, shifting his gaze toward the levitating, cashmere-wrapped actress.
"Leaning forward implies a gravitational struggle, Angie. A sovereign does not struggle," Alex lectured smoothly, a slow, predatory smirk pulling at the corners of his mouth. "We simply manipulate the architecture to accommodate our desires."
Without lifting his head, Alex reached out his right hand, extending his index finger exactly three inches to tap a hidden, biometric control panel seamlessly integrated into the armrest of the linen megalith.
Instantly, the floor beneath Angelina’s magnetic levitation cushion emitted a faint, futuristic hum. The proprietary Vanguard mechanics engaged, and the entire hover-pad slowly, flawlessly tilted forward at a mathematically precise fifteen-degree angle.
Gravity did the rest.
Angelina, still perfectly wrapped in her cashmere cocoon, slowly slid off the hovering cushion like a glamorous, heavily sedated avalanche, tumbling gently and flawlessly directly into the espresso linen pit. She landed perfectly flush against Alex’s chest, her lips crashing into his in a lazy, entirely gravity-assisted kiss.
She didn’t have to lift a finger. She didn’t have to engage her core. The architecture had quite literally thrown her into his arms.
When she finally pulled back, a breathless, triumphant laugh escaped her lips. "You engineered the floor to dump me on top of you."
"I merely optimized your trajectory," Alex murmured, his hands lazily wrapping around her cashmere-swaddled waist to anchor her against him. "Effort is the enemy of romance, Angie. True intimacy should feel exactly like falling asleep."
Monica Bellucci, lounging elegantly at the foot of the sofa, watched the entire exchange with a deeply amused, shamelessly flirtatious smile. She took a slow sip from a crystal tumbler of cucumber-infused water.
"He is corrupting you, Angelina," Monica purred, her Italian accent thick and musical. "Before you arrived, you were the wildest rebel in Hollywood. Now, you are asking the floorboards to do your flirting for you. You have been completely domesticated by the void."
"The void is incredibly soft, Monica," Angelina countered, burying her face happily into Alex’s neck. "And it doesn’t ask me to memorize scripts or wear leather pants in the middle of summer. I belong to the cushions now."
On the massive sixty-inch Pioneer rear-projection monitor at the edge of the patio, the entertainment industry’s total capitulation was currently playing out in glorious, high-definition silence.
The Trans-Atlantic Sports Network (TSN) was broadcasting the highly anticipated prime-time press conference featuring Don King. However, true to the Slacker King’s ruthless algorithmic mandate, the audio had been entirely overwritten. On the screen, the legendary boxing promoter was sweating profusely, his face contorted in rage, aggressively waving the Heavyweight Championship belt in the air. His veins were popping, his mouth moving in rapid, furious screams.
But the only sound coming from the television speakers was a soothing, ASMR-level whisper of an elderly Japanese botanist softly explaining the optimal soil drainage required to maintain a five-hundred-year-old Juniper Bonsai tree.
"Notice the delicate curvature of the primary branch," the synthesized whisper narrated calmly, just as Don King violently smashed his fist onto the podium on the screen. "It requires absolutely no sudden movements. Pruning must be done with quiet, deliberate intention..."
Keanu Reeves, who was still sitting in a full lotus position on his own hover-cushion near the zero-edge pool, pointed at the television.
"It’s a masterpiece of aggressive pacification, Alex," Keanu breathed in profound awe. "He’s screaming at the top of his lungs, and all I feel is a deep, overwhelming urge to water a plant."
"Anger is an auditory pollutant, Keanu," Alex stated seamlessly, not taking his eyes off the ceiling. "By replacing his vocal friction with botanical facts, we have mathematically neutralized his leverage. The public is currently falling asleep to his threats. He is fighting a war against horticulture, and he is losing."
Snoop Dogg, lounging in the oversized armchair, let out a booming laugh, blowing a perfectly round smoke ring into the air. "The man is literally throwing a tantrum on national TV, and the subtitles at the bottom of the screen are explaining how to mix fertilizer. You didn’t just silence him, King. You turned him into a gardening show."
Before the Brotherhood could further analyze the complete, humiliating destruction of the combat sports industry, the heavy Motorola brick phone—resting dangerously close to the edge of the reclaimed teakwood table—emitted its silent, red visual strobe alert.
Alex let out a low, resonant groan of profound spiritual suffering.
"The universe possesses a terrifying, catastrophic inability to process its own irrelevance," Alex complained blindly. "Why does a piece of plastic require my attention on a Saturday evening?"
Jennifer Aniston, sighing softly, gracefully unspooled herself from the cushions. She picked up the heavy receiver, extended the thick black antenna, and pressed it to her ear.
"Tyrant Group, Executive Office," Jennifer answered, her tone flawless and impenetrable.
She paused, listening intently for five seconds. A look of sheer, incredulous bewilderment washed over her face. She slowly lowered the phone, her hand covering the mouthpiece.
"Alex," Jennifer whispered, her voice trembling with suppressed laughter. "It’s Richard Vance Jr."
"Inform Richard that his continued survival is entirely dependent on the quality of his punchline," Alex commanded lazily, his fingers continuing to gently trace the fabric of Angelina’s cashmere cocoon.
"He says he’s violating the weekend blackout because the Screen Actors Guild just formally capitulated," Jennifer relayed, biting her lip. "But they didn’t send a contract. They sent... a surrender tribute."
Alex opened one obsidian eye. "A tribute? If they sent an actor to my gate to beg for a job, instruct Vanguard to hose them down with the agricultural sprinklers."
"No, Alex. It’s not an actor," Jennifer giggled, completely losing her professional composure. "Richard says the President of SAG sent a convoy of flatbed trucks to the Vanguard checkpoint. They are offering you one hundred and fifty custom-built, orthopedic memory-foam mattresses. They literally bought out a luxury bedding company to offer you the ’ultimate surface for horizontal sovereignty.’ They just want you to stop automating their background extras."
The living room fell into a stunned, highly amused silence.
Gillian Anderson threw her head back and let out a breathless shriek of laughter. "They are trying to bribe you with mattresses! The most powerful labor union in Hollywood is literally sending you beds to stop you from stealing their jobs!"
Alex took a slow, deliberate breath, his analytical mind completely unfazed by the absurdity of the extortion.
"Mattresses are a highly functional currency," Alex reasoned flawlessly. "However, one hundred and fifty mattresses require massive spatial storage. Stacking mattresses is manual labor. Tell Richard to accept the tribute, but redirect the trucks to the empty soundstages at Paramount Pictures. We will use them to line the floors of the Sanctuary Cinemas."
"Genius," Snoop Dogg nodded approvingly from his corner. "You’re making the union pay for the upholstery of the theaters you evicted the studios from."
"Efficiency through absence, Snoop," Alex smiled lazily. "Jen, hang up the phone. The comedy has been adequately delivered."
Jennifer clicked the antenna down and tossed the phone away. The crisis of the outside world had been instantly repurposed into luxury seating, handled entirely without the CEO ever sitting upright.
The heavy, oceanic wave of the [Aura of Tranquility] pressed against the vast room, solidifying the absolute, unbroken peace of the fortress. Outside the gates, unions were surrendering mattresses, promoters were being dubbed over by botanists, and the global elite were desperately trying to copy the aesthetic of the void.
But inside the espresso linen pit, there was no friction. There was only the quiet, steady hum of the climate control, the warmth of the Harem Council, and the flawless, frictionless gravity of absolute dominance. Alex let his eyelids flutter shut, sinking deeper into the cushions, perfectly content to let the world continue to sedate itself in his honor.
