Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Give Him Back To Me

Outside the illusion, the Qingmei demon finally pinpointed the person she had been searching for. Her gaze swept across the ruined buildings before settling on a young man lying motionless inside one of the broken structures.

She recognized him immediately.

It was the same young man who had managed to fight her on equal footing despite being only a Golden Core cultivator.

Thinking back to their earlier battle, a trace of surprise flashed through her eyes. Such strength at such a young age was extremely rare. Even among the famous young cultivators from the major sects, there were probably very few who could compare to him.

The Qingmei demon’s eyes gradually turned red as a cold killing intent emerged within them.

A talent like this could not be allowed to grow.

If he continued cultivating at this rate, there was no telling how powerful he would become in the future. Once he reached a higher realm, he could very well become an obstacle to their demon realm.

Fortunately, she had discovered him early.

As long as she killed him now, before he had the chance to grow stronger, she could eliminate this potential threat once and for all.

The Qingmei demon’s gaze remained fixed on the unconscious young man. Without wasting any more time, she reached into her storage ring and pulled out her weapon—a long black whip.

She gripped the whip tightly and infused it with demonic energy. The weapon immediately began to tremble, its tip carrying a terrifying force as she raised her arm and swung it toward the ruined building.

The whip lashed through the air with a sharp crack.

Again.

And again.

Each strike landed directly on the broken structure where the young man lay. The surrounding ground shook from the impact, sending chunks of stone flying as thick clouds of dust rapidly rose into the air and completely obscured the area.

The Qingmei demon continued attacking for several more strikes before finally stopping.

She stared at the dense cloud of dust with a satisfied smile.

With that many attacks landing directly on him, even a Golden Core cultivator should not have been able to survive.

"Surely that should be enough..." A hint of smugness appeared in her eyes. But before she could enjoy her victory, a sharp bloodlust suddenly burst from within the dust.

The Qingmei demon’s expression changed. In the next instant, a terrifying sword intent tore through the cloud of dust and shot directly toward her.

She barely had time to think before her body twisted to the side, narrowly avoiding the sword intent as it passed by her face. Even so, she was not completely unharmed as a thin line of blood appeared across her cheek and several strands of her hair drifted down through the air, cleanly severed by the sword intent.

The Qingmei demon’s expression immediately darkened.

She raised a hand and touched the cut on her cheek, staring at the blood on her fingertips.

The smugness from moments ago had completely disappeared.

However, what she saw next made her stop and a bit delighted.

Because as the dust finally began to settle, a familiar and powerful demonic energy suddenly filled the air. The Qingmei demon’s eyes narrowed as she turned toward the source of the aura.

From within the dissipating dust, the young man she had just attacked slowly emerged.

He was no longer unconscious.

His figure floated in midair, his sword already back in his hand. At first glance, he looked almost the same as before, but the Qingmei demon could clearly sense the dark demonic energy surrounding his body and his glowing red eyes was unmistakeable. It was not the aura of an ordinary human cultivator.

A smile immediately appeared on her lips.

So he was a demon.

That explained his extraordinary strength despite being only a Golden Core cultivator.

More importantly, if they were of the same kind, then perhaps they could communicate. Although demons like them were all despicable, they all had the same hatred for other races, so there was no reason for them to fight each other when they could simply work together against the humans.

The Qingmei demon had just begun to relax when another sword strike suddenly tore through the air toward her.

Seeing this, her expression changed again, and she quickly dodged to the side.

"Fellow demon, why do you continue attacking me?" she asked, trying to maintain a calm tone. "We are of the same kin. There is no reason for us to fight each other. Why don’t we work together and deal with these humans first?"

She had barely finished speaking when another sword intent shot toward her.

The Qingmei demon hurriedly raised her whip to block it, but the force of the attack still sent her several steps backward.

Her expression finally turned grim.

Something was wrong.

Why was this fellow demon completely ignoring her words?

More importantly, why did he seem even more determined to kill her than before?

The Qingmei demon tightened her grip on the whip, a bad feeling slowly settling in her heart.

The sword strikes grew stronger with each exchange. Although the Qingmei demon had initially held the advantage, she was gradually being forced backward, her movements becoming increasingly difficult to maintain as she was overwhelmed by the sheer power of the other party.

How could he be this strong?

He had not even officially broken through to the Nascent Soul stage, yet he was already capable of suppressing her. The thought sent a chill through her heart. If he could possess this level of strength before breaking through, how terrifying would he become once he successfully reached the Nascent Soul stage?

The Qingmei demon’s thoughts became increasingly distracted as she tried to figure out what was happening.

And that moment of distraction was enough for Yizhou, because her movements faltered, leaving a brief opening in her defense.

The next instant, a terrifying sword intent shot straight toward her.

Its killing intent was so overwhelming that there was no room for hesitation. The attack was aimed directly at her chest, leaving her with nowhere to escape.

The Qingmei demon’s pupils contracted.

But then—

The sword’s intent stopped.

It halted just inches from her chest, the terrifying edge of the attack hovering in front of her without advancing another inch.

The Qingmei demon froze where she stood, completely unable to understand why the attack had suddenly stopped.

Then she slowly raised her head.

What greeted her was a face far different from the one she had seen earlier.

The young man’s features were strikingly handsome, with sharp and well-defined lines that gave him an entirely different presence from the ordinary-looking face he had worn before. The Qingmei demon immediately realized that the face she had seen earlier had only been a disguise.

This was his true appearance.

But it was his eyes that made her heart tremble.

A pair of brilliant scarlet pupils stared directly at her, cold and merciless, carrying a terrifying killing intent that sent a shiver down her spine.

Then she heard a hoarse voice.

"Give him back to me."
