Chapter 690: Ignoring the elephant in the room

Lucian came back before the dusk had truly started to set. Cass didn’t need to ask if it was him, a knowing in his core turning to look towards the window before the bellow even rang out.

"How are you able to do that?" Edgar finally asked, curious, and Cass gave him a confused look from his desk.

"What do you mean?" He asked, meeting Edgar’s curious blue gaze. Edgar shifted on the couch, resting his arm on the back of it as he turned his body until his legs were up on the couch near the armrest, his knee digging into the back cushions, and his other hand was firmly planted on the armrest.

"Well, you’ve done that a couple of times. You’ve been able to sense Lucy from miles away and I’ve never been able to catch it. How do you do it?" He asked. Cass blinked, staring at the other man in confusion. He glanced down at his work, putting the pen to the side so he didn’t stain anything he was working on as he spoke to him.

"I don’t even think it’s intentional." Cass admitted. "I just...know he’s there." Cass said. It was as simple as that for him. Edgar stared at him, his expression remaining the same as he scanned Cass from lower stomach to the top of his head and then down again. He let out a grunt, surprising Cass, before he leaned forward, resting his chin on the edge of the couch.

"Do you think it’s because you guys bonded before?" He asked. Cass stared at him, his eyes fluttering slightly as he processed what Edgar had said.

"Is it because..." Cass mumbled, the words stuck in his brain for a moment before he grunted himself. "Huh. Maybe. I hadn’t really considered it. There was maybe a small part of me that wondered if it was because he was a magical being entering ’my area’ but you know what? That makes way more sense, Eddie." Cass told him and Edgar gave him a grin.

"Right? I mean, what you thought could also be it, or it could be a bit of both. We both know that Lucy wants to mark you again and forever this time, so there is a chance his dragon soul is calling out to yours before he even opens his mouth, but who am I to say?" Edgar shrugged. Cass had a feeling that the mage and vampire had a lot he could say. His suggestion wasn’t made without experience and Cass took a moment to truly consider it.

Was it the former connection between them? Was it magical? Cass wasn’t sure, and with how his body was so mixed up right now, he wasn’t sure.

"I don’t think I can give you a true answer until after my condition has finally stablised." Cass said and Edgar nodded, his chin not leaving the edge of the couch.

"That’s fair. It could also be playing a role in this." Edgar suggested and Cass couldn’t argue with him about it. "Either way, Lucy’s back, he’s probably brought enough meat to feed the whole mansion, and I think you need to prepare yourself for what might come." Edgar said. Cass blinked, glancing towards the window again before he slid his gaze towards Ember who was keeping her mouth shut. He looked back at Edgar.

"What do you mean?" Cass asked and Edgar stared at him for a moment.

"Cass, you and I both know what kind of dragon Lucy is. What kind of person Giddy is. The doctor gave us a solution to help you, potentially, get better. Do you honestly think that tonight is going to be normal?" Edgar suggested carefully. Cass swallowed.

Edgar was right to call him out like this. Cass had been ignoring it, if he was honest with himself. Shoving it down deep so that he didn’t have to look at it, not have to consider it. He didn’t want to face the fact that Lucian and Gideon were going to force the issue, and it wasn’t because they wanted to have sex with him in his, uh, other hole. It was because Cass wanted to speed up his change.

They would be doing it for him. Very selfless. Very reasonable.

Edgar watched as Cass swallowed, his hands fisting on top of his desk.

"I, uh, wasn’t-" Cass started and Edgar softened.

"It’s okay if you don’t want to do it, but you need to let them know now. Otherwise, they’re going to nudge you towards it. Not maliciously, but..." Edgar trailed off and Cass nodded. He was right. They would be horrified if they thought that they were forcing him. Lucian would probably offer Cass to cut off his dicks. Or maybe his least favourite dick.

"I...I’ll think about it." Cass told him and Edgar nodded.

"Okay." Edgar said, watching him. "If you don’t want to, let me know. I can help." Edgar offered. Cass nodded, thankful.

"Thanks Eddie." Cass murmured and Edgar grinned.

"Of course. Anything for my sweet, loveable Cass." Edgar told him just as a loud knock sounded at the door and then Lucian shoved the door open without waiting. Gideon was behind him, shaking his head as Lucian stomped in, his eyes bright.

"I’ve returned from my hunt!" He declared and Cass shook his head. Good for him.

"Was it successful?" Cass asked and got a scoff and an eyeroll in return. Lucian marched over to Cass, leaning over and pressing his face against Cass’ shoulder and throat, inhaling his scent and rubbing himself against him like he was scent marking him.

"As if I would dare return emptyhanded, especially after you asked me to hunt. I’m not that bad of a mate."

"I’m rich enough that you probably don’t need to hunt." Cass offered and Lucia jerked back, his face pulled back in a look of disgust. He placed a hand over his bulging pecs, drawing Cass’ attention to them as he patted his chest.

"I have my honour as a mate and man, Cass. I would never leave the providing just to you. If I am in charge of feeding you in any aspect, I am in charge of feeding you in all aspects. The quality of your food matters, and it was only recently that the maids here provided you decent meals." Lucian reminded him.

Cass had honestly forgotten that aspect.

Cass turned to Ember, giving her a smile.

"You’re dismissed for the day, Ember, and let Sage know as well." Sage had been running around trying to get everything sorted for Gideon’s refurbishment of the basement/dungeon below Cass’ office. Ember smiled, nodding, and bowing to the group before she left.

It was just the boys then and Cass watched as Lucian’s eyes lit up.

"Shall we go look at my new addition?" He asked and Cass could feel the softness and affection in the room. He took a deep breath in.

"Can we...talk about what the doctor suggested first?" Cass asked and Lucian, able to sense the shift, dropped his excitement immediately to focus his dragon-like eyes on him. The pupils scanned Cass’ face, the slits shifting from side to side.

"Is something wrong?" He asked, immediately concerned and Cass swallowed.

"I’m scared." The words tumbled out of Cass’ mouth before he could stop them. Lucian was on his knees before him between one breath and the next. He placed his hands on Cass’ knees, his eyes staring up into Cass’ red eyes.

"Oh sweetness, my lovely fairy, that’s okay." Cass nodded at his sweet words, glancing towards Gideon as he approached, his own face suffused with understanding and compassion.

"What part scares you, love?" Gideon asked and Cass swallowed. He slid his hands to Lucian’s on his knees, swallowing again as he squeezed them.

"All of it. I...I don’t think you understand how overwhelming it is to feel...to use that part of me. It’s so foreign and strange. At least when we have sex with me, I’d prepared myself mentally long before I met any of you for the potential I’d do that. At least once, just to try it." Cass mumbled. "But this is a whole new part of me."

"Do you want to watch us touch you? Like what we did before?" Lucian offered and Cass felt his whole face warm.

"I...I barely paid attention to that, Lucy. Be honest, neither of us did." Cass mumbled and Lucian rumbled, purring.

"I beg to differ. I was very much paying attention. It was tantalizing for me to watch your fingers tease this new part of yourself, but if you yourself didn’t watch much of it, maybe you do need to see it again. This time, maybe in the new bathroom?" Lucian suggested. "Of course, if you’re opposed, I won’t bring it up again if you’re against it. It’s just...our penises are rather exposed at all times. We know how they work. I just don’t want you to be afraid of a part of you that is probably going to be with you for the rest of your life." Lucian said.

Everything he was saying was said because he cared. He wasn’t trying to upset Cass or make his chest grow tight with panic.

"I...I’m still scared. Can I call a stop to it if I’m too scared?" Cass asked. Lucian’s eyes melted into pools of orange sympathy.

"Of course, sweetness." Lucian said. Gideon came around the side of the desk, following behind Lucian and when Cass met his gaze he looked so sad.

"We would rather die than force you into this. It is what the doctor suggested, but I would never, ever want you to feel forced to make love with us." Gideon swore. Lucian glanced back at him before he nodded, turning back to Cass.

"Exactly, and as we kind of agreed that I would be the only one entering you for now there, at least with my cock, it’s not as if we can rush it. We all know how big my cocks are and how small that hole is. No matter what, or how much it stretches, it will not be happening tonight, Cass. Remember that." Cass let out a slow, measured breath.

"Okay." Cass breathed. Lucian smiled softly.

"Okay." He agreed, squeezing Cass’ hands. Cass jumped as Edgar placed his hands on Cass’ shoulders, giving them a squeeze.

"Whatever you decide, we’re here for you." Edgar told him, soothing him, and Cass felt his eyes prickle. Lucian’s eyes widened as Cass sniffed, nodding as he dropped his head.

"I’m sorry I’m so emotional all the time." Cass whispered and Lucian squeezed his knees.

"Oh no. Don’t cry, sweetness." Lucian begged and Cass tried his best. He really did, but they were being so sweet to him. He shouldn’t have the nickname, they should.
