Chapter 188: 188: YOUR FAULT

Mr Watt was on his knees, surrounded by several government authorities. The authorities were about to take him away, but he remained there, unwilling to leave.

And that was what caused the commotion. Students had gathered around the scene to witness what was happening, and June and his team soon joined them, watching from the crowd.

"I don’t deserve this... I... I didn’t do anything!" Mr Watt defended himself.

But the authorities were already working to pick him up and drag him away without listening to whatever he had to say.

June stood there, listening as he tried to understand what was happening. He soon overheard two girls nearby gossiping about everything.

"But did he really not do anything? If he didn’t do anything, why is he being kicked out? Because he sided with Mr Kevin?" the first girl inquired.

The second girl explained, "Well, partially. But he didn’t only side with him. Rumour has it that he did a lot of things for Mr Kevin at the academy too..."

"Oh? Is that so? Things like what?" The first girl was curious.

"I heard that he was involved in manipulating a lot of results and stealing academy data and personal information for Mr Kevin. And he also did a lot of messed-up things for him, like secretly joining forces to kidnap students for Mr Kevin’s disturbing experiments..."

The first girl felt shivers run down her spine. "Oh, that’s scary... I can’t even imagine he would do that..."

The second girl nodded. "True. And he dares to claim innocence? What a joke... He belongs behind bars."

"I also heard that the Principal will be sent out too..." A third girl joined in. "Is this also for the same reason?"

The second girl nodded firmly. "Yes. His own is pretty much certain at this point. Rumours of his corrupt acts have been going on for a while now, and I think this is the peak of it..."

She explained further, "It’s said that he aided Mr Kevin heavily and helped him do all the shitty things he wanted to do in this academy... including kidnapping people for their experiments too. They’re all allies at this point."

The third girl shook her head. "Woah, that’s really disturbing. I’m already getting shivers from all this. I wonder what more they’ve done all this while..."

The second girl folded her arms. "And that’s why they’re catching them all. Serious investigations have been going on since the death of Mr Kevin, and the academy is in the limelight now..."

"They’re catching everyone involved with Mr Kevin and sending them off. It’s really shocking... I wonder how many people I don’t know will be caught."

"What about the Chancellor? Did he also get caught?" the first girl inquired.

"Nothing has been said yet. Maybe he’s not part of it... or maybe he is. We don’t know yet," the second girl explained.

The girls stood there staring at the scene, sharing their speculations, while June stared at Mr Watt.

Now, he pretty much understood what was happening.

And he understood better how the system worked. That was probably how they had wanted to kidnap Nyx as well, or perhaps how they had already done it.

They had all been working together back then, and the Cosmic Dungeon had been part of the plan... a plan to either kidnap Nyx or get him out of the picture to facilitate whatever they were trying to accomplish.

June didn’t know which one it was, but he was certain that one of them had been the case.

June was still standing there in thought when he suddenly heard someone call out loudly.

"You! You bastard!"

At first, June didn’t look up. He didn’t realize the man was calling him until people around him began shifting their attention, turning to stare at him as the muttering intensified.

And then June slowly looked up, meeting the vicious gaze of Mr Watt.

"You... this is all your fault! You always have to ruin everything for me! You bastard! It’s always you!" Mr Watt snapped.

But June stood there staring at him. He said nothing and simply watched.

"You... for how long do you wish to keep messing with me, huh? For how long do you want to keep interfering?! Because of your privileged ass, my son couldn’t get into the academy! It’s all because of you! And here you are..." He gasped. "How dare you..."

June stood there as another realization came to him.

Maybe that was why Mr Watt hated him so much.

His son probably hadn’t made the cut because of people like June—privileged people who got into the academy because of their wealth or connections.

And June guessed he hated him even more because of how nonchalant he had been after getting the position in the academy instead of his son.

"Why does it have to be you? You’re just a worthless F-rank... What’s so special about that?" Mr Watt snapped. "You... I hate you! All this happened because of you! It’s all your fault!"

But June said nothing. He had nothing to say.

He simply stood there, staring at Mr Watt as the man poured out his bitter words.

"And now I have to also lose everything because of the likes of you! You already have it all! Why then are you messing everything up for me, you bastard?!"

He snapped at the top of his voice, while June remained there, staring at him without a word.

As Mr Watt continued ranting, everyone turned to stare at June, who stood there without showing any emotion.

The authorities moved to hold Mr Watt firmly and drag him away.

But just then, Mr Watt broke free from their grip.

To their surprise, he struggled back onto his feet. He didn’t try to run away, though.

Instead, Mr Watt suddenly charged toward June.

He moved so quickly that June’s mind went numb with confusion and surprise. Everything happened so fast that June didn’t even know how to react.

And as Mr Watt closed the distance between them, he suddenly pulled a dagger from his side.

He was coming straight for June.
