Chapter 333 - 331: Some Truths
Chapter 331: Some Truths
He halted his action and furrowed. "Don’t use such tricks against this fight!"
She laughs in mockery. "Oh, why wouldn’t I? I’m not such a saint to fight with clean hands."
His eyes darken. "Release him."
Her eyes sharpened. "No." She also tightened his grip on Yin’s neck easily after she forced the man to kneel. The farce around them also stopped and everyone quickly went to him.
"No. 444, we must not allow her to escape." A senior said and he understood that it was also to tell him that even if something will happen to Yin, he won’t do anything.
His grip on his sword tightened. "Senior, I cannot—"
"Why? He’s just a devil." Another senior also interrupted and looked at him coldly. "No matter what, he’s not part of us."
"He helped us." He tried to reason out yet in the next second, they mercilessly pointed out something that he has been avoiding since.
"Help us? I think he’s just trying to lure us here for himself. Didn’t all of us see what happened earlier? No. 444, we are not blind." The senior scoffed in contempt. "You saw him. He was trying to gather dark energy from the enemies that we killed. Isn’t it for himself? To get his strength back?"
"...."
He did. He saw it while he was fighting. He saw Yin just standing in the corner and watched them fight, then he would go close towards the dead demons and absorb the dark energy on corpses.
At that moment, he indeed felt angry. How could he not? Yin always said he will not do anything and would just wait for him to fulfill the wish so he can get back his strength again. Doing this was like letting him see that he could not wait any longer for that wish.
But why the rush? What’s his purpose? Didn’t he say not to cause any trouble?
His eyes landed on the devil kneeling and saw the guilt flashed on Yin’s eyes and he was already subtly looking away from his gaze.
He pursed his lips.
"Senior, the Judge put a restriction on him. He can’t have his abilities back." He pointed out. He turned his head towards Yin. "He won’t betray me."
"!!!" He saw a surprise flashed on the devil’s face after hearing those words.
He won’t betray?
Then what was he doing? No. 444 couldn’t even believe how he was able to say those words without hesitation. It shows how much he trusted Yin, by intentionally gaslighting everything.
He didn’t expect how deep a connection was formed. Who would really expect how a grim reaper like him would develop friendship and companionship with a devil?
"Then how sure are you that he cannot fight a way to break that restriction? Even if he says he won’t, can you really trust a devil?"
He didn’t answer anymore, or rather he just could not find any words to refute. Not because he did not trust him, but the words that they say are the truth.
Yue laughed at what she heard and quickly started sowing discord openly. "Look at this, Yin. They don’t want to save nor believe you, so why are you complacent that they are on your side?"
Yin didn’t answer. He was also just staring silently at him.
"Restriction? Do you also think that that grim reaper would help you? Why would he, when he knew that devils like us will only cause troubles to the humans that they cared the most? Do you think that he will choose you?"
"...." Mentioning the last words finally made Yin react a little. He remembered the things that he’s been quietly doing in the back and met Si’s eyes again.
His body froze. It was an eye that was looking directly at him.
As if telling him that he knew everything.
Yin’s face darken. "You knew it." His words were like statements and it also stopped the farce around them.
Yue’s grip on him isn’t actually that tight after she senses the atmosphere between him and the other side so when he roughly threw her hands away, he was freed immediately. The she-devil took a step back and her face grinned to show her fun watching.
"It was you." No. 444 didn’t back down. His face instead turned cold and Yin saw the anger on his eyes. "It was you who spread dark energy to the human world to entice souls to devour their own resentment."
It is.
....
"Ahhh! Stop! Stop!" A scream from a soul echoed in a dark alley as that woman clutched her head and screamed in agony. A large amount of resentment suddenly rushed on her soul and she could feel something was pulling her out of control of her body.
As if that force wanted to control her body.
Unbenknownst to her, someone was just right in front of her. It was a man who was looking indifferently at her suffering, as if even watching her despair gives satisfaction.
Yin watched the resentment devour the soul and turn her into an evil spirit. After that, he only lets her leave without even caring if she’s planning to harm others.
He didn’t care, and even felt that they deserved it anyway. That woman was also not a good human, he believes that No. 444 must never meet her so he won’t be deceived again. This time, he will just cut off possibilities of these souls to hurt Ah Si.
A sharp glint flashed on his eyes, his lips curled up coldly.
Unfortunately, he also failed to notice a presence a distance away from him.
It was No. 444 himself, watching in disbelief about this betrayal.
....
From the moment a hatred starts to grow inside his heart towards humans who only knew how to be greedy and selfish, he decided to create more chaos for them. Using his dark energy, the souls— especially those who died with injustice and desperately seek for revenge, he used it to crumble the last sanity on their heads so the resentment in their souls would devour them.
Making souls turned into evil spirits and causing havoc in the human world so they would lose any chance for reincarnation. To prevent Si from giving his merits away.
Yin thought it angrily about how dare those mere souls take advantage of him? Why would he always give in when he could see how they are? Why would he always give them a chance to repent and in turn they just cruelly hurt him?
Every time he watched the man cough blood or show weakness that he never had in the past, the hatred only grew. He knew that he could no longer fulfill that promise not to cause trouble after gaining back his strength. If Si knew, he was afraid that he knew who’ll he choose.
He knew who he chose and it wasn’t him.
