Chapter 288: Seeker, Mourning King Warrior

Chapter 288: Chapter 191: Seeker, Mourning King Warrior

The Mad Biter had now completely taken on the shape of that wind instrument, looking like an oversized seashell.

“DOOOO—”

Its transformation complete, the Mad Biter opened its gaping, slobbery maw and let out a horrifying, resonant sound.

Though Li Miao had been prepared, raising his Law Knight’s Shield and igniting his Warfire ahead of time, he was still significantly affected.

His health was dropping continuously, and the progress of the Madness affliction was also rising sharply.

Thankfully, the Mad Biter wasn’t so overpowered that it could insta-kill him with a single roar.

Li Miao created some distance and quickly consumed two Recovery Wax Blocks to get his stats back up.

But the situation was looking grim.

Because this Mad Biter seemed to have set its sights on him.

It ignored the nearby Seeker, instead attacking Li Miao with frantic bites, refusing to let up.

And the Seeker, for its part, was acting just as absurdly.

‘It was fucking zoning out in the middle of a fight!’

At first, he’d thought the thing was in a wind-up animation for a powerful Skill.

But after an attack from the frenzied maw snapped the creature out of it, he realized it had simply been spacing out in mid-air!

‘Son of a bitch!’

‘Fuck! I’m up here fighting this big-mouthed Mad Biter for my life, and you’re in the back, pecking away at a bunch of weak-ass mobs like a chicken, and you’re fucking slacking off on top of it all!’

It made Li Miao want to kill the thing right then and there.

‘Did I help the wrong one?’

‘If I’d known, I should’ve just helped the Mad Biter kill this thing.’

But, frustrated as he was, what was done was done. Li Miao could only rack his brain for a way to handle the Mad Biter.

First of all, the monster was undeniably strong.

Its wide-area sonic attack had a fast start-up and a huge range, and it also built up the Madness status effect.

Second, after entering this form, its Defense Power had skyrocketed. Even Li Miao’s Frost Piercing struggled to break through its defenses, dealing limited damage.

However, it wasn’t without its weaknesses.

Its main weakness was that it wasn’t fast and seemed to lack any mobility Skills.

‘After all, it didn’t even have legs…’

This allowed Li Miao, a tanky Knight not known for his agility, to actually kite it, which was frankly a bit ridiculous.

Furthermore, after exchanging a few more blows, Li Miao quickly discovered its weakness.

CLANG—

The Frost Riding Spear once again struck the creature’s hard shell, and a numbing jolt shot through Li Miao’s hands.

Without hesitation, the Mad Biter opened its gaping maw and lunged at Li Miao.

‘If that bite connects, I’ll be black and blue for sure.’

WHOOSH—

Just then, a streak of red light shot out, landing right in the Mad Biter’s open mouth.

The next moment, its mouth erupted in a violent explosion, spraying blood and gore everywhere.

Li Miao turned his head and saw that the slacking Seeker had finally broken free from the mob of minions. ‘Took it long enough!’ he thought.

“ARGH! AHH—”

The Mad Biter extended the tiny, almost invisible hands from its underside, trying to slap at its burning mouth, but its arms were too short, making the attempt look ridiculous.

‘Looks like the inside of its hard-shelled mouth—that fragile oral cavity—is its weak spot!’

‘Perfect chance!’

Li Miao’s eyes narrowed. He raised his great Lance and braced himself.

A white light flashed. The Mad Biter’s body was instantly covered in frost and frozen in place, but blood continued to gush from its mouth.

Seeing his opponent stunned, Li Miao didn’t hold back, immediately using Lethal Strike.

He planted one foot on its lower jaw, used a hand to prop open its upper jaw, and raised the Lance high in his right hand as Warfire blazed around it.

SPLURCH!

The Mad Biter’s mouth was torn asunder. It frantically tried to cover the gushing wound, but could only let out a series of wails as its life slowly faded.

THUD!

The Mad Biter’s corpse fell to the ground.

[You have slain the Mad Biter]

Li Miao didn’t immediately collect the Wax Oil and other drops. Instead, he turned to face the crimson figure behind him, tightening his grip on his Frost Riding Spear.

“Who are you?”

Li Miao narrowed his eyes.

Based on the designation provided by his Spirit Candle, it seemed to be some kind of NPC, but that didn’t mean it was trustworthy.

“…”

The Seeker didn’t respond to Li Miao’s question. It just flew over at high speed.

Li Miao didn’t move, because its target wasn’t him.

He turned to watch as the Seeker arrived beside the Mad Biter’s corpse.

The Seeker began to absorb something from the Mad Biter, and the crimson area around its mouth twisted and warped.

Before long, an organ resembling an eyeball began to materialize on its mouth.

‘Interesting…’

Li Miao’s eyes narrowed. He walked over to the side and picked up his loot.

[Acquired: Wax Oil ×63]

[Acquired: Magic·Frenzy Chapter]

[Acquired: Big Mouth Head Cover (Excellent)]

‘As for the loot… I guess you can’t say it’s completely useless. It’s just… fucking useless.’

But Li Miao didn’t have time to worry about that. His attention was fixed on what was happening nearby.

The Seeker showed no intention of attacking him; it just kept absorbing on its own.

Soon, the Mad Biter’s corpse dissipated into the air.

The Seeker stopped as well.

The next moment, it suddenly clutched its head. Its form began to distort as ripples emanated from its body.

A piercing shriek followed.

“Holy shit!”

The sudden shriek naturally dealt damage. Caught off guard, Li Miao scrambled to raise his Law Knight’s Shield to block. It was the only thing that saved him from being killed on the spot.

VROOOM—

As the shriek spread, the surrounding crimson hue began to fade, and the fountain that had been gushing blood receded, returning to its original state.
